Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

I would get the Sony but that’s a tough call. OLEDs are amazing but the potential for burn in would freak me out also.

Unless you do something weird, I doubt burn in is an issue.

I have a 5-6 year old Panny plasma and these kinds of tvs are supposed to be the worst for burn in. Never got it.

What is your definition of weird? I consider off the wall occurrences as part of everyday life. I rarely fall asleep with the TV on but it happens. Just like I don’t leave the lights on when I go to work but it sure as hell happens sometimes. My personal opinion if you are paying a premium then the hassle free, no worry experience is better.

I've had the tv on for long durations, and even on news tv channels that have graphic/border bars on them. Never had burn in.

My reco for any electronics is buy it at Costco.

- 2 year standard warranty (1 from maker, and Costco adds 1 year on their own)
- Concierge repair pick up and drop off service
- Multi year warranty add-on is cheap
- If you have to refund it, Costco is 90 days and no stupid stuff like restocking fees

As long as you don’t leave a static logo on the screen for days you are good. I game, watch movies with bars etc. on my OLED for the last year and a half and not a hint of burn in. Wouldn’t trade it for any other tv. Well besides a newer bigger OLED of course.

I’ve been doing research on OLEDs now that they are within my price range. It’s really interesting to read comments and see the tests from the different sites. In general, the tests from sites seem to indicate that OLEDs won’t suffer permanent damage even from really high use. Then comments from consumers state otherwise. This means either:

- Not all OLEDs are created equal. It’s a luck of the draw whether one tv gets burn-in compared to another.
- Comments are fake news.

Which is more likely?

Glad I didn’t believe the FUD. As rtings tests shows it took weeks of the same logo to even show signs of burn in.

Until the OLED makers offer a guarantee of no burn in I would be highly skeptical that’s it’s not a potential issue. Samsung offers one on their QLEDs.

QLED barely beat the TCL in the TV shootouts, better off getting a regular LED instead of that overpriced set.
The whole burn in FUD is just like the crap people spread about plasmas. Glad it’s not working though OLED sales continue to increase every year.:bang:

Let me add...Samsung who makes the AMOLED tech has spoken on not supporting OLED in the TV's because of the Organics Ageing.

So what's deal on these curved TVs for gaming? I want a 4k ultra QLED (or LED) about 48" and I was looking at the Samsung curved 49" tv.

(Or tell me what tv I SHOULD get if you have an opinion.)

IMO and others here and over the web you can't make a costly mistake picking up the TCL P605 or 607. Just $600 (650 for 607) it rivals sets costing 2 to 3x the price. Just got mine today and the picture and blacks are real impressive. Roku TV HDR10 and Dolby vision with low input lag in hdr....

I'm not sure about objective measures, but I absolutely prefer a curved screen. Love mine.

I have the Samsung Q7F it isn’t curved but I can tell you it’s a pretty awesome TV I love mine. I been using 4k on Netflix and YouTube and I have yet to be disappointed. Can’t wait to hook the X up to it on Tuesday. I been using my regular box on it and games like destiny and nhl look fantastic on it and it handles motion very well. Couple that with it’s low input lag it’s pretty damn solid.

I'm thinking about getting the sony xbr 900e my question to you guys is I run my xbox soon to be xbox one x and ps4 pro through my receiver which is a Yamaha receiver. I have read that I cant do 4k like that do any of you know if that's true.

Thanks for the links. They are telling me I need to go grab that LG though! :hehe:
For a bargain I would maybe go with last years models of the name brand TVs.

Am I the only one who doesn't like playing games on huge 55"+ screens? I feel like 48" is about perfect unless you sit 30 feet away from your TV it becomes counterproductive, imo.

I believe earlier in this thread I was all over the lg sj8000/8500. Before that the sony 900e...

I second that. Got an old Panny plasma i used for gaming. No burn in.

My decision will be based on the sales during Black Friday. I’m still considering options from TCL 55” to Oled 65”. Sony 900E is a sweet spot but waiting to see if any crazy deals come along for the upper and mid tier quality TVs. I’m kind of regretting not jumping on the 65” refurbished B7 Oled on Amazon for $2049. It’s back up in price now.

I tried some calibration videos on YouTube and wasn't too impressed I think I'm just going to leave the settings mostly at default and change picture modes if I need to.
