You're right about the credit checks but for people that already have a credit card they could simply charge your credit card $32 a month. Amazon can already do this. For people with good credit and people that already have credit cards this would be great.
Also if MS's marketing team is smart, they would get all the stores in on it too. Imagine Best Buy, Target, Walmart all making this offer public. Even if they have to make it $35 a month and let the stores keep the $3 a month. This is a damn good deal.
I think this could have mild success in the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
It's a good option/deal but again I say most that would wanna go that route likely wouldn't have good enough credit.
All these companies should offer these options though.

14tf dev kit would indicate a 12tf consumer console. Do any of the PC enthusiast guys here know what kind of GPU the 14tf dev kit would be using? I didn’t know there was a 14tf GPU out in early 2019.

On the AMD side? Radeon Instinct mi60. Nothing released on the consumer side has that much horse power in AMDs current portfolio

If MS really wants to make a dent in market share I don't think having two SKUs is enough. They have to just take it on the chin with the console prices and have Series X at $499 and Lockhart at $299. Take a loss on the consoles and make it up in software sales/Gamepass/Live. They could also offset it in the long run by delaying any console price drops.

If series X has a 56 CU GPU i don't see there being any way they could possibly price it under 500 dollars. Realistically I think series X is going to be 600, and even at 600 they would still be losing significant money on each console. The bigger a chip is the more it costs, at the same time the higher clock speeds the more heat it's going to produce.

I know this isn’t X related, but for anyone still thinking 2 SKUs will be confusing:

What's with the Hello My Name is sticker format?

I think he’s based in China or Japan. Very accurate leaker in the past, and I think he just deleted his Twitter. He’s active (rarely) on Era, and he’s just using that site to answer questions anonymously.

I’m wondering if back at E3 when all the news that the PS5 was stronger than the next Xbox if it was because studios had the Lockhart devkits? We get reports of 2 sku Xbox being dead because studios only have one devkit and information on one Xbox. We then get another report about the 2 sku Xbox being alive most likely because actual devkits for Series X starts arriving at 3rd party studios. Then we hear around this time from Tom Warren that most places don’t have Anaconda (Series X) devkits and then all of a sudden we get the media blitz of the next Xbox and the Series X reveal a few weeks later.

I truly believe that those summer reports are based off of a Lockhart devkit.

I would think the power gap between the Lockhart and PS5 dev kits would be too large for anyone to make that mistake?

No idea where they got all this info from...? Maybe speculation from the ‘leaks?’

The Xbox Series X GPU will be a graphics card by AMD, that is expected to launch in 2020. Built on the 7 nm process, and based on the Scarlett graphics processor, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The Scarlett graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 350 mm² and 14,500 million transistors. It features 3584 shading units, 224 texture mapping units and 64 ROPs. AMD has placed 12,288 MB GDDR6 memory on the card, which are connected using a 384-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 1700 MHz, memory is running at 1750 MHz.
Being a igp card, its power draw is rated at 180 W maximum. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it.

It could be MS dropping fake numbers them self.

My guess those rumors reinforced themself as a result of echo chamber talk. A few people were saying the same thing with nothing firm behind it. The Reiner tweet is the most laughable. He posted that just before the Scarlet reveal at E3. Knowing what we know now about lack of dev kits, he basically threw that out there hoping it sticks. Other rumors were phrased as “whispers” or I know someone else who knows. I guess we will see in the end.

XSX will smoke these so called PC mock up systems and for a fraction of the cost.

If priced at the alleged $499.99, IMO there isn't a pc build right now that could match the price per performance ratio of the XSX. Hell, its hard now to make a $500 PC to match the XB1X.

5700XT is still at least 350.00 at a quick glance and it doesn't do that tracing.

Nothing is confirmed until Sony and MS officially put out their specs.

While that is true, and I’m sure these aren’t exact, if there are any major differences, both companies must be exceptional at hiding it. There is no data at all that leads me to believe there can possibly be something hugely different from what has been leaked.

Because besides the occasional ‘forum insider’ claiming ‘I know someone who’ and ‘just wait, you’ll be surprised’, almost the others bits of info that have come forth all line up.

My only questions left are about final clock speeds for both systems, whether the X will have full RDNA 2.0, and exactly how the PS5 will do RT. I know Cerny said HW RT, but the info doesn’t quite add up for that. Not full HW RT anyways.

Otherwise I’m betting the leaked stuff for both to be >90% accurate.
