Lockhart confirmed :’(

I don’t have time to watch that, can you give me the Cliff Notes?

Also, there are still some rumors floating around that Lockhart might be portable, like the Switch....? Hmmmm.

Hi everybody! I'm with team Val's analysis on the upcoming... "Console War!!!!"

Im just flabbergasted at how every year we have people predicting $600 for a console after the PS3. No one in their right mind would charge that price again for a console. Not a chance. I mean, how many times do we have to be proven wrong on this thing. It's literally $499 or bust!

Absolutely agree.

Exactly what I've been saying all along. CPU and storage will have the most impact.
All this 'Lockhart is going to hold back the Series X' talk is from people who don't know how engines scale and what they scale most on.

I stated the same thing a couple of months ago but most everyone here disagreed.

As long as Lock hart targets a 1080P resolution it should be fine because everything else is mostly the same. CPU & BW need to have the same speeds or ratio of speed per flop as the more powerful console.

As I've said in other threads, I don't think power is going to play as a significant part in the console war between MS and Sony as everyone thinks. Content and experiences will. While imo Sony has a significant leg up with their 1st party offering and 3rd part relationships ( specifically devs in Japan), MS's game-pass has the potential to change the landscape dramatically, especially if they can get some more big name AAA games and indies on the service.
It wouldn't surprise me if the XBSX has a month of gamepass bundled in with every system.

In a perfect world the system would be $499.99 at most but with the leaked/rumored specs, I'm fearing/preparing for $550-599.

You might be right, but I saw Matt from resetera post about data that was taken that says power played a huge part this past generation when deciding which console to buy.

My thing has always been this. The more advantages Microsoft can have it will only be better for them.....obviously.

If it turns out to be 9 vs 12 that’s a pretty big deal.

We have never got a console anything like the XSX.
When have you seen a console built into a mini PC Tower?
When has a console ever reached 300 watts?
When has a console out performed a high end GPU?
When has a console had an SSD tied directly into the mother board?
When has a console had a desk top level CPU? Closest was the Cell and that did launch at $600.

I agree but not as big as $499 vs $599.
I personally don't care about price if it's packed full of power but I'm hardcore.

If it's 12, then it's 600, imo

14tf dev kit would indicate a 12tf consumer console. Do any of the PC enthusiast guys here know what kind of GPU the 14tf dev kit would be using? I didn’t know there was a 14tf GPU out in early 2019.

Or they are not done with the specs, they really don't want it to go in the wild yet.

How about if its 12 TF's at $32 a month for 36 months?
$32 a month gets you an XSX, Game Pass and Xbox Live.
There are literally 100's of games on GP and every 1st party game day one.

It would "help" a bit.
Doing payments requires credit checks etc..
That would likely alienate most that would go that route no?

Remember Dev kits are going to be higher spec...

The 14TF dev kit is the Final SOC with all CU's activated.
Agree
The fact they are telling us that the Dev Kit are 14TF's is to reaffirm everyone that the console will in fact be 12TF's.
The other thing I find interesting is that its going to be 12TF + Ray Tracing not 12 TF's then when activating Ray Tracing it will perform half as fast. Sounds Amazing...

You're right about the credit checks but for people that already have a credit card they could simply charge your credit card $32 a month. Amazon can already do this. For people with good credit and people that already have credit cards this would be great.
Also if MS's marketing team is smart, they would get all the stores in on it too. Imagine Best Buy, Target, Walmart all making this offer public. Even if they have to make it $35 a month and let the stores keep the $3 a month. This is a damn good deal.
I think this could have mild success in the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
