4.5 on the Xbox side... waiting on word for ps5
Yeah...which is a hefty chunk of memory. Leaves only a little for CPU before you're moving into the fast memory pool where speed matters for GPU and less for CPU and OS.
If someone is going to point to a memory bottleneck on Series X, first they have to acknowledge the impact the decompression block and SSD acting as an extension of memory and its impact on the ratio of memory needed compared to today's architecture. I don't believe anyone has even tried to guesstimate that yet. Theres too much missing info there.
Then they need to address how much memory is going to be occupied by OS and CPU on average. If OS uses a lot more memory on Series X and hardly any on PS5, there's your potential advantage. Not the speed. The slow memory is being fully used by tasks that don't benefit from high speed.
Instead we just get circular logic. Videos referring to videos referring to websites that refer to videos that started it all....that all say the same thing. PS5 can use all 16GB for graphics.
Its not downplaying PS5 to ask where the OS and CPU usage go when that happens?
