Who is Ibert? MS isn't going to be making 5 AAA games a year when they've already said they'll be doing mostly high end AA games. Also again the Bethesda acquisition didn't get xbox owners any new games every single one of those games was coming to xbox anyway all it did was take them away from other platforms. You aren't getting anything extra because of that deal other than spending more money long term on a sub service than you would be buying the games individually especially once the pricing goes up with it undoubtedly will.

Jaffe doesn't know s***, the guy is wrong almost every time he speaks he's just a bitter fool who made poor choice after poor choice once he moved on from God of War. He's been railing against AAA games for years now, he had to show a game he was working on at an E3 interview one time and just before he came on the show aired a trailer for Battlefield and he was like "how can we compete with that" he couldn't just talk up his project he had to whine and cry that something that looked better was shown first, the guy is a tool.

His point is bulls*** too, there isn't something great from MS 1st party hitting gamepass every few weeks wtf is he on? what was the last AAA game they even released? Gears and that was last year and there won't be a single one this year lol MS has had like 2 AAA games in 3 years so I don't know WTF he's talking about, hell in just the last couple of months Sony had TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima plus they get smaller games like dreams etc, his point is totally backwards and he is completely uninformed and trying to make facts fit his wish for how things are vs the facts actually proving him wrong.

Bethesda won't have any of their big games ready for years yet, Starfield is at best a late 2021 game but more than likely 2022 and ES6 is probably 2023 at the earliest. What are they going to do with the other studios? Another Doom? Another wolfenstein? we've just had a couple of those in a fairly short timeframe is there really a huge appetite for sequels? the last game in each of those series underperformed as well. Don't get me wrong losing ES6 sucks, we have no clue about Starfield yet since we haven't seen it and Bethesdas last game was pretty awful unless you were already a bit fallout fan.
He be talking about the future. They have vastly more studios now which should mean more games per year. Looking at purchases and dev time, announcements, 2022 could have 7 first party games.

4 to 5 games per year makes sense for tge GP focus too.

Sony is going to look small with their first party output compared to MS. It’s stunning how quickly that has turned and that sort of massive investment was always Sony’s worst fear.

Maybe in 2-3 years when some of these xbox games start coming out it'll look better for MS but don't forget Sony didn't just buy Insomniac last year (working on more than one game at a time) they've also expanded some studios to two teams, San Diego now works on MLB as well as what sounds like another Uncharted (I wish it was something else) GG has two teams and Horizon isn't all they are working on etc and I'm sure they'll be picking up another developer or two.

There was some rumor going around that they are going to try to pick up Ubisoft but I hope that's not true, leave the big publishers multiplatform, their value drops considerably when you remove a large percentage of their potential customer base plus it's just harder to do with a publicly traded company than it was with Bethesda which was a privately held company.

If these larger companies start buying up publishers though Sony will have no choice but to at least attempt to pick up one or two themselves but I really hope that's not where the industry is headed. If that's the case Google, Amazon and MS will end up being our only choices after a while.

Microsoft is scaling up and imagine if Sony wants to go big game hunting on an acquisition then financing that will force them to commit 100% first party to PC.

I'd rather have had something like that too, I wonder how the PS5 would look without the big white plastic pieces on it?
Like a s***ty box. They are all crap looking. PS5 and XSS look worse because they are white. Does anybody have anything white outside of consoles in their entertainment set up?

Say what you want about him personally, but your opinions don’t change what he said.

Feel free to debate his point, though. And I’ll leave this here, again. And all these games will be on GP.

If its just 1 game then yeah I'm fine with it and I would say good for you Sony but if TLOU 2 gets announced for PS5 with some kind of fee or sneakily bundled with its multiplayer what do we say then? Its only 2 games?

Who cares? Even if they did give a full remaster for free, that’s just something nice they did. you should never expect people to work for free.

It is funny, cause Sony are usually slow starters but not this time. This time MS is a slow starter. The Xbox seems like it will come on strong in 2022 and beyond.

Although. I fully expect 1 or 2 of Hellblade 2, Everwild, Forza 8 to come in 2021.

I have always hated white consoles, I was so happy when they made the black 360 lol. White consoles always look like toys, even a console that has a more toy like design like the OG xbox looked good because it was all black, the top of that thing with that cheap looking green plastic disk was ugly but from the front it looked like a powerful piece of equipment, it's still one of my favorite console designs of all time. If they would just make that plastic shell on the PS5 smaller so the ends are even with the middle section of the console and made them black it would look 100X better than the thing they have now. Right now it looks like a marmite sandwich with white bread lol but I will say the digital one does look better than the one with the disc drive.

PSX looks awesome today, DC looks great, SNES (EU, not your amerikan abomination) looks great, Sega Genesis model 1 looks great... and that's about it lol.

Also, I still think the launch PS3 looks great.

I would agree on Everwild if they actually knew what kind of game they were making, the fact that they haven't settled on anything yet after all this time leads me to believe it's 2022 at the earliest. Hellblade still has no gameplay to show and it took them 3 years to make the last one, it seems like development really just started within the last year on the sequel so it's likely 2022 as well.

I really don't get how they have so few games for the first year plus lined up, it's not like they didn't know they were making a new console to be released in 2020 and it's also not like they've had a ton of output from their first party studios over the past couple of years. I know their 2nd biggest one just did Gears so it'll be a long time before they have anything ready to go again but 343, RARE, Turn 10 etc all totally absent from not only launch but likely the first year or two when they haven't released anything of consequence in a couple of years seems odd. I know 343 is because of a delay but still that's not good planning. I never expected the newer studios they bought to have anything ready in the first two years, several had just finished or still needed to finish products for other companies before they moved on to working on exclusive xbox games.

I had to look up the EU SNES I didn't know there was any difference between yours and ours and I have to agree the EU version looks better although I'll always have a nice nostalgic feeling for ours as well. I think they look ugly by modern standards but to be fair they basically were toys back then so the look fits.

I liked the DC but I hated the color, I would have liked that in all black as well. It looks like there was an all black special edition in Japan.

I still don't get why anyone wants flight sim that stuff is boring as hell, "hey look I can fly over my house" ok and then what? lol Do they let you empty the frozen toilet waste over the homes of people that you hate? lol

Four to five games yes but not four to five AAA games, the guy who's in charge of their studios even said they'd be focusing more on AA games with AAA production values. They'll be smaller in scope/scale so people who expect 5 big AAA games per year are going to be let down, hopefully most people don't believe the fud that guy was spreading in the tweet that Rollins posted whoever he is.

We need to see the quality. Just labelling something AA because it has a lower budget doesn't mean much. I mean on Xbox one of their best games this gen was Ori 2, a frickin indie game. I had more fun and enjoyed it far more than AAA games like Gears 5, Forza 7, Quantum Break. Fallout 4 feels AA cause it lacks the visual clout and polish one expects from a AAA game.

Just need to see them. Quality matters more than a label. I'd take more Hellblade quality games than Forza 7 quality games.

Are you technically right? Most likely.

Plus the tweet I was responding to specifically said AAA :) I loved both Ori games as well so I agree quality before labels but I also have to say I wouldn't buy a $500 console just to play Ori either I'd need something bigger in scale and scope to justify the purchase.

Doesn't mean it is worth it, though.

AA games are usually dubbed so because of budget and production value. A AA game with AAA production values isn't AA anymore. What is weird is production value suffers because of the lower budget. So, are we really going to notice if they are AA or AAA when playing? That obviously assumes they can do AAA production value on smaller budgets.

They will be doing mostly AAA games out of their studios.

That is generally assumed - especially amongst those on the competing platform because that is something Microsoft does with their IPs. Sony's focus is to sell hardware first as they are a hardware firm. By relinquishing all of their IPs on to PC, that slows down them selling their hardware. I don't see that happening. Although the PC will get releases, it won't nearly be on the same scale as Sony's own platform.

In addition to that, Sony doesn't have to aquire some conglomerate studio to compete. The gaming industry is vast enough where talent is constantly moving about. This is how Hideo Kojima ended up making his own studio. This is also how Ready At Dawn was aquired by Google for their Stadia platform, and those guys were from Sony's Santa Monica Studio. Sony has a lot of lean studios under their belt, and this is all they are on the lookout for to expand Sony WWS, not necessarily size.
