I think this whole conversation is dumb, but The Spidey upgrades are work they already had to do with the Miles Moralis game. It's the same bloody city. MM isnt a from scratch game either. Saying it's less meaningful because they are "just" bringing over PC assets is silly and is pretty much the same thing.

That said, these upgrades are perks and are not owed to consumers. It takes more work and man hours to implement the upgrades. These should be seen as perks.

If they put in more time and effort to improve something, they have every right to charge for it. Free upgrades are used to entice people to their platform. If sony doesn't want to do that it's their business.

They are upgrading the character models from the original game as well and scanned the actors again etc it's not just the city that got the extra work. You are right about them having the right to ask people to pay for it, they give people the option of only buying the miles morales story at $50 or paying full 1st party price to get that AND the remastered version of the original game which is not unfair. They easily could have just made the Miles Morales game $70 and added that as a bonus but they are giving people the option.

From Jaffe himself:

Which reminds me of this:

He's an idiot who only likes indie games now a days, he hasn't made anything of a decent quality since the first god of war and people like him because he cusses, the guy is a joke. He tried to start up his own studio and it failed miserably. He said he thinks the PS5 will sell Gamecube numbers, that's how out of touch with reality he is.

How much extra stuff do you think they are adding to the witcher? all they have announced is adding RT and faster load times, they aren't doing upgraded character models, new hair tech, lighting, new assets etc they are adding RT anything else is probably just things carried over from the work they have already done on PC. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they are doing it and it's nice that it's free but I don't expect anywhere near as many visual upgrades to be made. As far as owning the IP the author turned down any royalties when they signed the original deal for the games because he's a moron, since then they've renegotiated but they never said if he just got another lump sum or if he's getting royalties and if so how much, I highly doubt he's as aggressive a negotiator as Disney/Marvel would be.

They aren't carrying over what they've already done for PC; they are actually doing this new for PC and the next gen boxes. Well, they aren't, they are paying for it to be done. But if you think so little of Sony that being asked to pay for an upgrade they are already doing isn't a disappointment, it's not my job to make you think they're for the gamers. At least they believe in generations (* offer void when it comes to anything other than a cheap shot at MS).

Say what you want about him personally, but your opinions don’t change what he said.

Feel free to debate his point, though. And I’ll leave this here, again. And all these games will be on GP.

Who is Ibert? MS isn't going to be making 5 AAA games a year when they've already said they'll be doing mostly high end AA games. Also again the Bethesda acquisition didn't get xbox owners any new games every single one of those games was coming to xbox anyway all it did was take them away from other platforms. You aren't getting anything extra because of that deal other than spending more money long term on a sub service than you would be buying the games individually especially once the pricing goes up with it undoubtedly will.

Jaffe doesn't know s***, the guy is wrong almost every time he speaks he's just a bitter fool who made poor choice after poor choice once he moved on from God of War. He's been railing against AAA games for years now, he had to show a game he was working on at an E3 interview one time and just before he came on the show aired a trailer for Battlefield and he was like "how can we compete with that" he couldn't just talk up his project he had to whine and cry that something that looked better was shown first, the guy is a tool.

His point is bulls*** too, there isn't something great from MS 1st party hitting gamepass every few weeks wtf is he on? what was the last AAA game they even released? Gears and that was last year and there won't be a single one this year lol MS has had like 2 AAA games in 3 years so I don't know WTF he's talking about, hell in just the last couple of months Sony had TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima plus they get smaller games like dreams etc, his point is totally backwards and he is completely uninformed and trying to make facts fit his wish for how things are vs the facts actually proving him wrong.

Bethesda won't have any of their big games ready for years yet, Starfield is at best a late 2021 game but more than likely 2022 and ES6 is probably 2023 at the earliest. What are they going to do with the other studios? Another Doom? Another wolfenstein? we've just had a couple of those in a fairly short timeframe is there really a huge appetite for sequels? the last game in each of those series underperformed as well. Don't get me wrong losing ES6 sucks, we have no clue about Starfield yet since we haven't seen it and Bethesdas last game was pretty awful unless you were already a bit fallout fan.

Cheap shot as MS who also misrepresented what they are doing? the vast majority of their announced games are still years away and not coming to X1, you know announcing games too far in advance the thing you've accused Sony of doing many times yet completely ignore how MS does the same thing.

They are NOT remaking the Witcher 3 lol they are adding RT and probably doing something to help better leverage the SSD's and probably tinkering with a few things here and there, they have not said anything about specific upgrades other than RT and faster loading times. They can't do it internally because they are obviously very busy with another project right now.

I never asked you to try to convince me that Sony is for the gamers lol Sony is in business to make money just as MS is, MS the company who also are not doing anything as a favor to anyone, if they are giving anything away it's to try to win some good will which they desperately need. When you have no AAA 1st party launch titles or can't even promise more than 1 in the first year and BC is still one of your biggest selling points yeah you probably are better off making some upgrades to the console version of a game that came out a year prior.

But this is why Microsoft's games are released on everything date and date or why Xbox as a console, from now on, won't have any exclusives. Sony and Nintendo aren't in this boat, so hardware will always matter to them, which means unique experiences and exclusives.

As such, its approach to cloud gaming is much more similar to Xbox Game Pass and xCloud than Goolge Stadia.

When it's in early access, Amazon Luna users will have to subscribe to Luna+ for $5.99 a month or the Ubisoft channel for a currently undisclosed price. Luna+ comes with 1080p/60 FPS gaming as, with 4K planned for the future. It also includes the aforementioned list of games, and it can be streamed on two devices at once. The Ubisoft channel is mostly similar, though it can only play Ubisoft games and is limited to just one device at a time.

At launch, Amazon Luna will work on PC, Amazon Fire TV, Mac, and iOS. While Google Stadia and xCloud are struggling to get on Apple devices, Amazon is circumventing the issue by making Amazon Luna web-based on Apple platforms instead of going through the app store. An Android version of Amazon Luna is also in development, but it is simply labeled as "coming soon" after the platform's launch.

Sony is going to look small with their first party output compared to MS. It’s stunning how quickly that has turned and that sort of massive investment was always Sony’s worst fear.

Where that works in their favor is quality and unique experiences. It's like comparing a Lamborghini to Mustang. Sony is growing their internal studios on a quality level rather than a quantity level, and their hardware will revolve around all of this (DualSense/VR/immersion), which will separate itself from the traditional way of gaming or what I'd like to call static gameplay. You can't do this if your experience and developers are aimed at every single device. This is what I've been saying from the start.

It doesn't matter how many internal studios Microsoft aquires, at the end of the day, Sony will still benefit from them while engraving their own mark on their own experiences.
