are they not talking about Spider-Man Miles Morales expansion not Spider-Man Or the remaster?
The two are a abundled package is all it is. You can get the full package, which is the Ultimate Edition/remastered Spider-Man added in or you can skip it. Whatever works best.

Here's one, and they aren't going to charge more.

As part of the big drop of Xbox Series X information today, Xbox and The Coalition revealed new information on exactly how Gears 5 will benefit from the new hardware. For starters, Gears 5 on Xbox Series X uses the full slate of PC Ultra settings, which had to be pared back on Xbox One X. This means things like better textures, better fog and increased particle counts.
The campaign cutscenes, which run at 30 frames per second (FPS) on Xbox One X, now run at 60FPS on Xbox Series X. Load times are also heavily decreased and The Coalition told Digital Foundry that the game will feature ray-traced screen space global illumination. You can click the images below for an early technical comparison.

The improvements don't stop there, as The Coalition also mentioned on Xbox Wire that Gears 5 runs at over 100FPS on Xbox Series X and the team is actively looking at 120FPS for the multiplayer modes. Gears 5 supports Smart Delivery, so these upgrades will all be free for Xbox Series X owners.

3 pages of battery discussion might be the most random thing I've ever seen
wait, gears 5 is coming to ps5?

A game that's a year newer that MS owns the IP for? Sony doens't own the Spider-Man IP they'll have to pay Marvel a fee also more work had to be done for Spider-Man there was no PC version where they could just bring assets over they've actually scanned actors again, reworked things like hair and a ton of other assets along with adding RT and a performance mode.

I'd love if were a free upgrade but I don't expect it to be and I don't think $20 is an unfair asking price especially when you can just play the version you already own without these upgrades, TLOU remastered came out a year after the PS3 launch of the game and had less work done on it than Spider-Man and it wasn't free. Halo MCC wasn't free for people who owned the older games etc. Honestly MS needs Gears to be upgraded they have NO AAA exclusives at launch, even if Halo would have been on time it would have been a very thin line up and they are pushing BC like crazy.

Spidey Remaster is offering way more than Xbox's Smart Delivery system and 2.
it's only 1 game..
The smart delivery system just makes sure you have the right version a game for your system, what that version consists off has nothing to do smart delivery.

Well Maneater is getting 4K/60fps and RT upgrades for PS5 and XSX at their launches and some graphical/performance enhancements for the XSs as well. Sorry if someone else posted this already, it's a goofy game but also a lot of fun.

Don't forget the FH4 upgrade which will look absolutely insane. Can't wait for the upgraded games on both systems since we're not getting any new games (except for third party)

Witcher Iii then? They are having to have Saber add the same next gen stuff and they're adding the features to PC as well, they don't own the character, the game is older, and they're charging zero.

If its just 1 game then yeah I'm fine with it and I would say good for you Sony but if TLOU 2 gets announced for PS5 with some kind of fee or sneakily bundled with its multiplayer what do we say then? Its only 2 games?

How much extra stuff do you think they are adding to the witcher? all they have announced is adding RT and faster load times, they aren't doing upgraded character models, new hair tech, lighting, new assets etc they are adding RT anything else is probably just things carried over from the work they have already done on PC. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they are doing it and it's nice that it's free but I don't expect anywhere near as many visual upgrades to be made. As far as owning the IP the author turned down any royalties when they signed the original deal for the games because he's a moron, since then they've renegotiated but they never said if he just got another lump sum or if he's getting royalties and if so how much, I highly doubt he's as aggressive a negotiator as Disney/Marvel would be.

I think TLOU2 would be different than Spider-Man because it's a newer game and they outright own the IP, I would say it's a bad look but If they do a ton of upgrades it'd be hard to call it unfair to ask for it to be paid for, I mean we can still play the original version on PS5 regardless and it's already a great looking game.

Should they give that away for free? yeah I think so but I'm not expecting it to be honest, not if they do as much as Insomniac is doing. If all they do is a higher native res and add RT and higher framerate that should be free.

I think this whole conversation is dumb, but The Spidey upgrades are work they already had to do with the Miles Moralis game. It's the same bloody city. MM isnt a from scratch game either. Saying it's less meaningful because they are "just" bringing over PC assets is silly and is pretty much the same thing.

That said, these upgrades are perks and are not owed to consumers. It takes more work and man hours to implement the upgrades. These should be seen as perks.

If they put in more time and effort to improve something, they have every right to charge for it. Free upgrades are used to entice people to their platform. If sony doesn't want to do that it's their business.
