'A' for effort at least.
H for Hope cause I want to be wrong.

Would be huge for MS to exclude some of those franchises from PS.

If they actually bring them to Playstation like stated above....
I'm done with buying Xbox consoles next generation and will play Xbox through my computers.

Though I disagree we will just have to wait and see. If they are that stupid to spend 7 billion on timed exclusivity then Microsoft really doesn't care about marketshare at all.

I have no reason for an Xbox and that won't change anytime soon.

The Xbox exec says he wants games to be first, better or best on Xbox, Spencer says they will honor existing contracts and moving forward will be a case by case basis, these are facts and from the horses mouth, we know nothing beyond that and probably won't hear anything more until the deal has gone through.

I do find it weird they would consider putting the games on other consoles, switch I can understand down the track. The big plus will be playing these games day 1 on gamepass.

They're playing to lead the gaming industry. This isn't even a question. Nadella elevated gaming to be a future pillar of Microsoft because he believes they can lead that industry. Game Pass is the horse. Bethesda was bought for Game Pass. (I know people still struggle with this logic but Nadella is on record of it). Subscription and cloud exclusives are more important than console exclusives to leading the industry. This is what Nadella, Hood and Microsoft investors believe.

Personally I believe some, but not all Bethesda games will be exclusive. Has nothing to do with "needing the money". Games deep in PlayStation development will likely get released, if not now, then on a delay. There's a lot of moving parts. Subscriptions will likely reach a tipping point of being what drives the industry leader within 5 years. Building up mindshare of 1st party IPs between now and then is critical to the long term. Hardware is already bundled with the subscription. Game Pass will move more consoles than the option for 5% of a gaming base to buy a game for $70 on one console but not another.

But what I really came here for was to see how TekPhan was doing.

You're going to be doing a lot less reading in these gaming streets over the next few years.
PS5 and Switch use the old method which has dominated and will continue to do so.
If MS wants to be successful they will need to quit relying on $1 3 month GP subs and make good games with all the devs they own.

They have no chance this generation if they don't.

Why can’t we fight over which girls is best girl in the uvgf threads, I say green ;) :p

You should see if the board at Microsoft would be willing to replace Satya's business acumen with yours.

They don't...not in the home console market anyway.
Yes you're right. They care about subscriptions, cloud and APIs. Consoles are just an on-ramp. Barely a side chick. I get it that traditionalists aren't all enthused by this but the sooner everyone accepts it, the sooner we move on to more relevant gaming topics. Microsoft's Executives above Phil have eliminated any potential cloudiness when it comes to their strategy. First time in the 2 decades they've been in gaming that the head of the company has part of his compensation tied to gaming...and not a single mention of console revenue or sales. They got blasted in terms of console sales by both Sony and Nintendo and yet pulled off record profits because subsidizing consoles for casual players who barely will engage in the system doesn't do much for the bottom line.

People can accept it or not. Console is to Microsoft what Kindle Fire is to Amazon. For people who only were going to buy a Xbox console to play 1 or 2 exclusives a year, Microsoft would actually prefer not to subsidize and take a loss on their console purchase. Buy those 1 or 2 things on PC...maybe even PlayStation. Eventually they hope those casuals try streaming. Console is for Xbox enthusiasts....people who prefer the Xbox ecosystem as their primary platform or Game Pass subscribers. Comparing console sales doesn't do anything to help determine whether their strategy is working or not. Measuring Game Pass growth does.

We all guessed it at some point in time but to see a developer come out and make a statement about it is new.

There's been much talk within the game development community about the potential downside of having to support a lower min spec with the Xbox Series S, particularly for its limited RAM. Do you foresee having any issues because of this?

The RAM is not an issue for us (currently), but GPU performance presents challenges for future titles. Our current renderer is designed for high spatial and temporal resolution (read: 4K @ 60 fps). It is stochastic by nature. Dropping any of those would require us to do more expensive calculations dropping performance even further. We have a compromise solution right now, but I am not satisfied with it yet.

Hmmm...so I assume future titles wont be on PC and if they are will only target top tier systems. Lol. Kind of strange that a PC dev built a renderer with very little latitude.

So closer to RDNA 1.5 as the Sony engineer had confirmed last year.

PlayStation 5 die shots confirm no AMD Infinity Cache support; other RDNA 2 features may been cut too

It looks like Sony has removed some Fixed Function Units (FFU) and Fused Multiply-Add (FMA/FMADD), for example. We should stress that the below image is only an interpretation of the PlayStation 5's die. However, the space between cache segments effectively confirms that the console does not support Infinity Cache.

It is a customized RDNA 2 based GPU. Sony removed things they didn't need.

"RDNA 2 is a commercial abbreviation to simplify the market, otherwise GPUs with completely random features would come out and it would be difficult for the average user to choose," wrote Leonardi.

"For example, support for ray tracing is not present in any AMD GPU currently on the market. (...) The PlayStation 5 GPU is unique, it is not classifiable as RDNA 1, 2, 3 or 4."

"It is based on RDNA 2, but it has more features and, I think, one less. That message came out badly, I was tired and I shouldn't have written the things I wrote", continued the engineer, complaining to have received insults for his statements.
