Mortal Kombat was not even on the table when WB was trying to sell their gaming division last time, they were going to keep the MK IP which defeated the purpose of buying NRS IMO. Yeah they had mentioned things about long term licenses but who wants to buy the team that's been working on MK from the start and then have to pay to keep making MK games once the license runs out or sharing the profits from sales with WB after they bought the dev etc. Mortal Kombat should be a multiplatform series. The only reason Street Fighter was exclusive is the same reason Dead Rising was exclusive to Xbox One, Capcom was in a bad place financially and those games wouldn't have been made otherwise, Sony paid for SFV to be made and MS paid for Dead Rising to be made etc.
The only value in Crytek is the engine, and XGS seem to be fully invested in UE5.Being greedy and looking at the games out there right now, I think a great acquisition for MS would be Asobo. They are the main studio working on Flight Simulator, worked on Recore, make A Plague's Tale (I love it). Would make a lot of sense there. As stated by others, the WB studios look to be problematic if they are bleeding talent and don't come with the IP. The other studio that might work is Crytek....Ryse 2, Crysis, WarFace, CryEngine, some VR games, (assuming MS is looking to move into VR this cycle)....they've been kind of a mess over the last few years so might be too risky.
For the most part agree their value is technical however I wouldn't say Microsoft is fully invested in UE5. On contrary I'd say they're more invested in developing their own tech stack and the fact that their studios still use outside engines shows the weakness with it. Crytek's engine is good for realistic, open, outdoor worlds. Still not sure they make sense as an aquisition but if Microsoft did get them, it's evidence the engine adds value to their stack. The only value in Crytek is the engine, and XGS seem to be fully invested in UE5.
Burnout is a far bigger IP than Dead Space. Dead Space was dropped because of poor sales.Burnout would be awesome but Dead Space seems like the obvious low hanging fruit after how well the Mass Effect trilogy did. I could see a Dead Space trilogy. Remastering a collection would drive more sales and a collection makes less sense with Burnout.
I just think a trilogy has a different kind of value than a single remaster. Especially in this time where a lot of enthusiasts are kind of starved for those types of focused single player games. Honestly wouldn't mind both.Burnout is a far bigger IP than Dead Space. Dead Space was dropped because of poor sales.
You keep saying Remaster, but the article doesn't say or imply that. This seems to be a new game, not a touched up old one.I just think a trilogy has a different kind of value than a single remaster. Kind of agree here on track based Burnout...tho Paradise did grow on me. My fav Burnout memories are 3 and Revenge. Love me arcade racers...Please be Burnout. Atrack based Burnout.

Doesn'yt surprise me at all. Making a new game in a series they canned for not bringing in the cash. The rumoured Dead Space game is supposedly a reimagining.

It will be Xbox. The Silent Hill stuff was funny but just seems to be an indie dev trolling for publicity. The Kojima rumors are all over the place. Xbox game, PS5 exclusive Silent Hill game......?
They were my favorite racing games, love actually being able to smash into the other cars and have it impact the race in a fun way, I don't like more serious racers but burnout was a blast.Yeah, they were great games.
I wouldn't pay that guy a dime to make a game for me, was stupid when Sony spent the money on bringing him in. He's a name without an IP, the guy was given plenty of time and money for his last MGS game and when he ended up being told he had to actually finish the game at some point he threw the publisher under the bus and everyone acted as if he was some abused child. The game media gave him 9's and 10's and I thought it was one of the most overrated games I had ever played. The Kojima rumors are all over the place. Xbox game, PS5 exclusive Silent Hill game......?
