That's sucks
It's surprising I'm guessing it's just a small team that couldn't optimize things enough, it was supposed to be a launch game so it was already delayed by around 9 months so they probably just didn't have time to get everything lined up.

They may be small but they're a veteran team.

Some are complaining that DLSS isn't available for Game Pass on PC and are having difficulty with RTX too. RTX is grayed out with DX11 option while using DX12 it's available.

I haven't been able to really play around with settings and performance yet. Just was reading some of the chatter on PC/Gamepass end.

Also fyi DX12 has a little hitch....it isn't bad but run your game in DX11 and it gets rid of it. The developers are aware of it as well and there should be a patch released soon.
Yah I am getting the hitches. It's not so bad with a Gsync monitor, but it's enough to bug the crap out of me. The annoying achievements pop up slices performance in half. They need to fix that. I am playing on Game Pass. The game looks awesome and it's fun so far.

I don't need DLSS on my end at 4K. Though, I wouldn't mind the extra boost with DLSS Quality. The performance is above 60 FPS, even with RTX on. I can't complain. Raytracing/DLSS is exclusive to DX12.

Yeah I don't see the DLSS option on the Game Pass version. That is the version I have.

No HDR and RT on XSX is a little disappointing but it looks pretty good just the same, couldnt play more then 15 minutes though, hopefully I can hop back in for good later tonight.

Surprised MS didn't jump in and give them a hand to optimize the game for series consoles.

For what it's worth. From their Steam FAQs:

What are the display specifications within The Ascent and next gen features?
The supported display specifications in the game are the following:

STEAM > up to 4K 60FPS (spec dependant) + Ray Tracing (dependant on hardware) + DLSS (dependant on hardware)

XBOX SERIES X > up to 4K 60FPS + Cross-play within Xbox family

XBOX SERIES S > up to 1440p 60FPS + Cross-play within Xbox family

WINDOWS 10 > up to 4K 60FPS (spec dependant) + Ray Tracing (dependant on hardware) + cross-play within the Xbox family

XBOX ONE > up to 900p 30FPS + Cross-play within Xbox family

XBOX ONE X > up to 4K 30FPS + Cross-play within Xbox family

Is DLSS supported in the game?
DLSS is currently supported in the Steam version of the game only. We are working with our partners at NVIDIA and XBOX to implement it in other versions of the game

The lighting looks good, it's one of the best things about the game visually, you could tell people it had HDR and they'd believe you based on the way the lighting looks so it's fine. I know some will see it's not there and be upset but HDR isn't something you need a powerful console for so if devs skip it in games it's just because they didn't think they needed it or didn't have time to do it.

That's cool, still there is only so much you can do especially if the game was already delayed, their backs were probably up against it and the tech they chose probably needed some special work put into it to get RT working on consoles without it impacting performance too much etc. If they had a bigger team and tis was a bigger project I'm sure it would have made it in but it's a $29.99 indie game so I'm more than happy to cut them some slack. I really don't know how much of a difference RT would make in this games visuals anyway.

DLSS isn't needed, game is well optimized. My laptop is running it at ultra with all RT options on at 90fps. 1440p too.

Oh I agree. DLSS isn't needed for performance, but it looks better than native (DF analysis) and that's impressive.

Yeah, I game at 1080p, so no DLSS for me. Just kinda odd to have different options from different stores (MS and Steam).

I played about 30 minutes with DX12 on and no stuttering for me. Which I heard was the main complaint. I have a 3070.

There was some slight flickering where I think RTX was being used. I toggled it on/off and it went away.

I also put VSync on because certain areas my FPS was 400+. Putting it on dropped it around 200 +/-.

Game's great at this point (couple hours in).
Graphically, the main character looks lol, but those environments.... It's cyberpunk done the right way, it really looks outstanding, imo the best graphical style this gen

I'm trying to like it but the aiming feels off to me, it jumps around a lot. I do like the way the world looks so I'm going to keep going, this was the game that stood out to me when MS first started showing xbox series x games so I've been looking forward to it for a long time. Also I haven't found any upper body armor yet and it doesn't take much for the character to die and they send like 7 enemies at you at once lol.

I played through the first mission (basically I played through until you talk to the guy in the nightclub) and so far I enjoyed it. It felt really a bit too easy but I imagine that will change as I get further in, but since I'm also trying to get through Dishonored 2 I'm probably only going to be playing this now and then until that's done.

Played this for a bit on XSX. Was fun and looked nice. Sort of feels like I've played this game before though, but good for some mindless fun.

This game runs smooth as butter on PC maxed out with RT at over 120fps constant @ 3440x1440p.

Also looks incredible and is actually very fun!
Yep! Screw the reviews. This game is a banger once you get the eb and flow of the combat and reach higher levels. I had a blast last night just playing solo. Gonna jump back in tonight.
