Think I'm on chapter 5 with Wake. Going back and forth each of them. Really enjoying the story but gameplay, specifically combat, is bad. Just really not that fun and it seems half the time I switch to a weapon using Dpad, it doesn't work. Or I shoot an enemy I've hit with the flashlight and bullets go right through them. Probably just drop it to easy and power through it.

I'm loving this game. The story has drawn me in. I don't have a problem with the combat but traversing some areas are a pain.

It's better in every single way except maybe combat, think more survival horror (RE 4) than the looseness of the first Alan Wake. Otherwise it's a huge step above the first imo.
You weren't wrong, my friend. I am loving this game and it has me hooked. GOTY worthy.

That's surprising tbh
I'm not surprised actually. It was the same with AW1. And this was digital only. And it's not on Steam. And I have never seen a commercial for the game on TV.

Forgot about the digital only... yeah, haven't seen any here either, but I'm not living in Stockholm anymore, so the usual subway commercials I don't know about. The only games you see on TV here is COD and maybe some nintendo commercials, but that's basically it.
I do wonder if the game would've sold better on PlayStation if it was an exclusive for that platform... and it prob would be talked about more too.

This is why there should always be a physical option

A couple things. Not saying it's perfect and it's right or anything, but...

  • it was a few hours
  • probably disclaimer text covering them when servers are down
  • physical copies don't mean much unless they are perfectly released or there's a way to apply patches manually

Valid. But maybe those few hours were the time when someone was free to play.

Physical copies would have the patch installed already and you could go play with the disc if servers are down , at least that's what happened last time with me.

How so? There have been like 15 patches.

When your system is in sleep mode, it can download patches and install automatically. Even if not, you can play the older version while waiting for servers to go back up. It's not like the game is unplayable or broken.

Oh, I meant if you had a physical copy and never used the internet.

Beat it this weekend. Loved the story but my previous comments on gameplay/combat stand. It did help putting it on Story but still some aggravating things about it. That said I did end up getting the Platinum and it took just under 30 hours.

I've been playing all week. I am loving it. They put in a lot of effort in this game.

I get that. It's not a perfect system.
