Finally reached England. Warmed up more (pun intended) with the game. Apparently, it took them a week by boat, which begs 2 questions.

1st, how do they poo? backside facing the water.?

& secondly, they seemed to travel back in time as it was middle Autumn (or fall) in England. Small nitpick yet but again, how did they poo?

You can't spell assassin without "ass in." Probably they just stuck their rumps over the side and into the water.

I noticed there was a nudity option in the menu and mine is turned on. I bring this up because I ran into something that you would think would involve nudity but no one was nude.

After playing this for about 7 hours, I finally faced a real challenging boss fight. It was a bitch but a fun and cool boss fight.

Also, it's screen tearing galore at times on xsx lol
Doesn't bother me, better than using v-sync most of the time imo

I think ubi stated they need to change the way they make open world games for the new gen, guessing this engine isn't taking advantage of what these new consoles really are capable of?

Either way, game is growing on me... Not better than Odyssey and origins yet though, but this game is a much more slow burn than they are so maybe it'll change. Strange to have the 3rd game with this gameplay style and choose to reveal it all so slow when we already now how the mechanics play out.

Enjoying it well enough, but it didn't take long for me to remember why I'd mostly lost interest in the series. Really don't care for their combat design anymore...

I'm going to be playing this once my brother is done with it. He bought Valhalla while I bought Demon's Souls and Spider man. Going to exchange games after.

Really enjoying it still after 20 hours, the setting, characters and story is more appealing for me then odyssey, still enjoy origins more though I do love a good raid and pillage.

It just all feels so samey though, I can see why they can pump them out almost yearly, it's just missing that special something to elevate it.

You can't be serious? This is a cross gen game, and it suffers from issues like that?

Do side quests not show up in the quest tracker for anyone else? I'm still in Norway, not sure if that has something to do with hit.

Side quests doesn't show up in menus, they're organic in the way that you'll see the blue shimmery orbs when you fly with the raven but you'll not "pick them up" in the sense you're used to. You have to do them straight away.

I am enjoying it, finally left Norway today for England, the Norway stuff took longer than I expected, the devs all said it was a short section at the beginning of the game but it took me like 10 hours because I was trying to collect everything. There are still a couple of spots where the map isn't open yet in Norway so I'm guessing we'll be going back there at some point.

Graphically it looks very good most of the time but I have to say the fire when you blow something up looks awful, it looks like worse than 360/ps3 bad same when the rooftops are set on fire and it moves at like 10fps. Sadly they still have the low res clouds that get banding lines in them further out into the distance and why do devs keep making those 2D birds that move at 5FPS? do they think that really looks better than nothing at all? lol I also wish we could turn off that overdone water on the screen effect that so many games use when you travel on water. The lighting at times looks amazing though and the texture quality is really good for the most part , they've also improved the fur on the animals compared to current gen just don't zoom in on the rats lol.

I hope when they make changes to their engine for the future they improve the way they make clouds, weather effects and water, the water in this game looks more like the water in watch dogs games than it does the water in the last couple of AC games, it looks like a sheet that's being moved around. I get that it's taking place on rivers and lakes instead of the open ocean but the water could still look a lot better.

You should check unreal 4.26 dynamic clouds. It’s physical base particles cloud unlike texture cloud like most games.

there are no side quests. The mysteries are small 10 minute missions that you can do or not so. They don’t show up in your quest log as they are meant to be completed when you find them. They are always in the immediate vicinity of where they start. UBI did it this way to remove fetch quests and dial back the noise and make the actual quests more relevant to the story. I really like this approach.

I'm really liking the game on next gen. However if I was still on an older console I probably wouldn't have rushed out to get it.

It isn't a massive upgrade, but still lots of little things that make the game better. I love how they put back the feature to blend into the crowd like in the old games.

I’m playing one a One X. It looks and runs good. Enjoying it a lot, still in Norway though, only a few hours in. Combat seems a little weak, I think that’ll pick up as I get abilities.

The combat definitely opens up as you get abilities. Before that, a yellow enemy with a shield can take an eternity to take down. Once you have some abilities you can break their guard and things open up.

I remember Odyssey was annoying at the start until you had some essential abilities.

Look for books as well, you'll find some great ones in the gold "wealth" areas of the map even in Norway.

What do you guys think about the mini games?

I like the drinking contest, the last round gets pretty intense with trying to keep your character standing.

I like the poetry slam, but I feel like on certain rounds the timer goes by waaaaaaay faster than others. I'm in such a rush to pick an answer, I don't have time to read each one. Then other rounds, I can read each one twice and still have time. Not sure what's going on there.

Dice game is cool, but games take far too long for my taste. I see myself avoiding that one through the game.

I like the drinking and rap battles, I didn't take the time to figure out the dice game and rushed through it.

What I like the most is how the devs encourage exploration by hiding these cool abilities throughout the world in the form of books of knowledge. That will keep me exploring because there's a cool payoff.

I raided some random, unimportant to the story, area in Norway that had no specific stories tied to it last night that had a better battle than I've even seen in the campaign so far. So many enemies, 3 different yellow boss fights, loot galore. I never would have known it was there without exploring. Really cool. I sadly think it's going to be a while before I get to England, I'm wanting to 100% Norway!

The world events are like side quests, but far worse. They are boring, & often confusing what you need to do, or where the person you are supose to follow went or want to do. There also are NO in-game prop or info most of the time unlike main quests & traditional side quests.
