Batman: Arkham Origins Anyone?

Played the 360 version yesterday at Hastings for about 15 minutes. My opinion from the short time I had with it is if you liked Arkham City you will probably enjoy Origins.

I've never played a Batman game, I'm not into super heroes particularly. But I did love the melee combat in Sleeping Dogs and have been told they are similar so I might like this, is that true ?

@Gwyn I think people are worried it's not being dev'ed by the same studio, Rocksteady.

I like Arkham, still not sure about this game
I like playing the hero
and I will assume batman, still, does not kill anyone?

I was on the fence, but ended up grabbing it last night. Played for a few hours and am enjoying it so far, but what's up with the Comm Towers?! First one I did no problem, then I went to two others and could not for the life of me figure out how to disable them.

Obviously it could just be me, but for one, there was a fuse box in a separate room, and a space to throw the batarang through, but it did nothing when it hit the fuse box! Detective Vision reveals nothing else of interest in the area either. The fuse box should shut off the electrified door I need to get past, but nothing...

Can anyone help? May be hard to know what I'm on about, I know.

Oh that one. If you see the room where you see the fuse box, there is a box leaking electricity at the left side of the room. Make sure your batarang pases closely through that so your batarang will be electrified as well, and then hit the fuse.

Nice! Thank you man! I did see that transformer, but never thought of that!

So... Riddle me this... I'll spoiler tag this one just in case, sorry to anyone who didn't want to see that last one, my bad!

Another Comm Tower, at the top right of the map, on a little island - how do you get in?? I spent about 15 mins there this morning and could not figure it out! There is an entrance at the bottom, but it's water. It looks like you could pull a boat through with the bat claw, but there isn't one in the water, just a few off to the side that you can't interact with.

This is the last one, I promise!

Still haven't reached there, sorry. But as you know, some are just simply unrechable early in the game since you don't have the right gadget. Might be that, but maybe not. If I reach there tomorrow - past 12AM here - I'll let you know, but I feel that someone else knows the answer already.

I really enjoyed Arkham Asylum on the 360 and Arkham City on the WiiU, so I picked up Origins on the WiiU. So far, it's pretty good, a little choppy in a couple spots, but seems good overall. My only complaint is that the WiiU gamepad is not used as much as it was in Arkham City. I miss selecting the gadgets on the touchscreen and doing the upgrades and hacking there too. It's really just a map now, which is kind of lazy.

it looks awesome on my PC. Fun game so far. I think it was pointless to try to pass this off as being when batman was just starting out however, the tech is too modern for that to make sense.

Having fun with it. Put in about 3 hours today doing minimal story stuff, mostly gathering data packets and interrogating data collectors.

Yeah I was thinking that as well.
It not being from Rocksteady doesn't mean it can't be good. The foundation is there.

I picked the game last night so I'll try to play it tonight so I can post my impressions.

Looks like I might go back to Darksiders II for a while. Apparently there are a LOT, and I do mean a LOT of game breaking bugs including saves being wiped, getting stuck in geometry, black screens, etc...

I'd rather not put in a bunch of time and have it wiped out because they didn't want to properly test their game. So I think I'm going to go back to Darksiders II (I really wanted to finish at least the story before starting Origins anyway) until a patch is made available to fix these issues.

Anyone else having issues with disc noise? I have it installed on my had, but when I boot it up the disc goes into hyperdrive for about 3-4 mins! No other game I have does this, just Origins. Very strange, almost sounds like my damn 360 is going to explode!

I can't say I'm having any problems like that. Just learned about the assassins, so I'm still in the beginning stages of the game, but it's nice. Solid game so far though I feel like I'll regret starting on hard. I died five times before finally beating Croc. Just a bit rusty, but I found a way to win

I started playing this yesterday...the minute I sprade the explosives i had that "not this sh1t again" feeling.

Playing it, I'm still enjoying it. The combat feels nice, no qualms there. Right now I'm just going around and beating guys up for XP. Leveling up my Batman and all that. One thing I'll say negatively is that the atmosphere isn't as good as Asylum or City, even though they try to make Gotham a creepy place to be in. Gotham doesn't make as good a backdrop for a game like this as I thought.

That's pretty much why I was hesitant to pick it up. I didn't want to feel like I was playing the same game again. I enjoyed both of the previous games, but I don't feel like going through another game like that unless they really change up the gameplay.

are all the boss battles QTE fests ? I went up against Deathstrike recently ( on the ship) and while it took me 5 attempts( holds head in shame)to beat him, it is some what anti climatic to have a skillful opponent, and then be forced in in to a monotonous style of combat.

Alright, now the game is really getting me hooked. The more I play, the more I love. Just finished Deathstroke. Hope that's not it for him, he was billed as a unstoppable badass and for him to not be used again would be a shame. I loved the boss fights so far. A nice little challenge to them, but not so tough that it would take a billion tries, even if I hated starting the boss fight from the beginning against Croc and Deathstroke. Interesting sub boss fights as well. Electrocutioner was funny and sad at the same time since I was excited to fight him, but Anarky felt just right. Gonna be cool to see what other villains are included.

I got to spend some time with the game today. I had a lot of fun. It is just like Arkham City and I think that's a good thing. AC is one of my favorite games this gen so more time with the game is always welcomed. The story is interesting to me so I will stay engaged until it ends.

I'm really liking the game. I'm at the Deathstroke fight.

I thought the deathstroke fight was a highlight of the boss fights in the game, I loved the whole one on one thing and I think it was done as well as could be within the current combat system. Lowest point (in relation to boss fights) would be firefly. I beat it (Great story, chris redfield does a good job as batman) and only have one more thing in the criminal database thing to sort out, then comes either new game + or whatever "I am the night" mode is.

About the bugs, definitely dealt with many crashes so far, luckily no file corrupting though.

Definitely "samey," but I have zero problems with that, it's a series that started near perfect, hard to improve I'd say.
Maybe develop some more variety with the gadget use, I don't think there's a single new one here, just re-done, straight gone, or combined. (I miss you line launcher) Only so many times people can stomach the "spray bat, explode, collect green riddler object" process.

Still, I have few real complaints. freezes suck, wish there were more memorable (only word I can think of) areas for the combat and "predator" sections. I think I'll always remember the top of wonder tower. This game, gcpd's good but, meh, it's no meltdown mayhem. (Think I'm the only one here who cares about that stuff though)

Are you guys all playing on PC? I've been on the 360 and haven't really experienced any freezing or slowdown. Didn't install it either. I did see a little geo clipping, but I was able to grapple my way out of that pickle.

Yeah, PC. I've lost some progress a couple times (thankfully no fully corrupt save file) and a couple other bothersome bugs, but nothing real major. I've been reluctant to play it until the issues are at least mostly sorted out.

Besides, when I build my new PC this month it'll be able to max the game @ 1080p 60fps and look stunning, so I don't wanna burn out on it before then.

Whoa, just beat Copperhead and that was a tough one. Kept on dying again and again. Had to take a break right then and there. Also beat Mad Hatter earlier. I have to say, I actually enjoy his role in this game better than City. Feels more twisted in a way. Although I do wish there was more to it. Would've been nice if they had a tip of the hat to American McGee's game and had you fight the card guards.
