I honestly don't think that's a good idea if you don't like the main game. I'm sure the community is going to do some cool things, but he fact that the servers don't persist once they empty is going to be a killer. It isn't like someone's just going to be able to host some retro server 24/7.

If the servers persisted, then I'm sure people would set up some cool permanent things, but it sounds like you're going to be limited to what is active.

Even just basic as 1942, BC2, and BF3 is good enough for now to me.

Yah that sucks about the lack of server persistence, but it would be expensive for the EAssholes to manage with it. EA/DICE need to have a rental server program after launch asap.
 
Wait so how do portal servers work exactly? I was under the impression you rented those and customize settings to your liking and you just can't rent servers on the normal maps?
 
I'm really glad there's a 10 hour trial for Game Pass Ultimate. Can't wait to try it out without having to pre-order. I really want to play some BF2042.
