If the only way to get the update for new consoles is to purchase the Ultimate Edition then the update is not free. I wonder if this was Remedy's decision or their publisher. Either way this is a crappy move. I own the game for PS4 but if I had it for Xbox I'd be pissed. MSFT's Smart Delivery is being circumvented and running contrary to that program and its intended use, you know the whole "buy a game once and play the best version" at no additional cost.

I'm hoping that it was 505 games that made the call. If Remedy decided that, I'd legit be surprised. Not a good look regardless.

I was just reading about this on Kotaku and the article stated how they reached out to Remedy for comment and were told to contact 505 Games for clarification which they have yet to do. No doubt 505 is consulting with some PR firm for the right way to respond and spin it as good for gamers. So it seems this was a decision on the part of the publisher which is at least clears Remedy.

I really wish Remedy were a part of MSFT Studios. They seem like such a good fit together.

Remedy and the current MS administration seem like a decent enough match. I'm not sure if MS didn't want to buy them, Remedy didn't want to sell, or a mix of both but in hindsight I think if they had been acquired I think both would have been much better off than they are now.

I waited on picking it up so getting the ultimate is fine for me. Kinda seems like a slap in the face to the day 1 buyers.

Yeah. I think they got jerked around by the prior administration, and I'm not sure that the whole idea of being brought in to how what was then MS Studios was working during the development of Quantum Break would be exceptionally appealing, especially since in theory they still wanted to do an Alan Wake 2 at the time. I wish I could believe when they say the whole interconnected universe thing was their plan from the start, but it doesn't matter - Asimov did the same thing by tying in the Empire, Robot and Foundation series at the end. I'm kind of glad I bought this on PC now, though - I may pick it up for the SX eventually as well, but I'd be beyond disappointed if I had bought it on X1X.

Ms could hired a remedy team to work on Halo. They know how to do good lightings.

I don't like the fact that 505 lied. But I also understand that if they spent a lot of man hours developing this upgraded content, they should be paid for it.

They haven't. Remedy have and have put the blame all on 505

The graphics are amazing on PC. The gameplay isn't that bad, but it gets boring roaming around hallways and offices after awhile. I couldn't finish the game.
