Controller preference

Ignore Kvally.... He will keep trolling using tatics like a 7 year old "i know you are but what am i" over and over.

That's exactly what he's doing. You throw the facts at him...and he covers his ears and says "no".

its crazy because when the PS3 allowed up to 7 players, no one cared to boast about it. in fact, it wasn't even given a thought, and so it was underutilised. so in return, Sony omitted this feature as well as the pressure sensitive buttons. http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/furtivespy/lists/7-player-offline-games/82340/

having said that, how must we use that saying of yours now?

on topic

as this gen creeps on, people may find that the Tpad may pose more of an advantage for games than what it was originally given credit for (a gimmick). I say this because last gen, many games either ran out of inputs, leading to multiple actions in a single button, or the inputs that were currently available weren't sufficient enough for the types of tasks in the game. the problem with launch titles were due to the feature's newness, no one knew how to properly take advantage of it without it being passed off as just a gimmick feature. gyro is another feature I believe is going to turn up in more future titles as it is far more precise than the sixaxis in the PS3.

I miss the pressure buttons from last gen controllers :(

Correct. DS4 is considered better on the majority of sites and gaming polls, does it make it true?

Well, you can say the DS4 is considered more popular based on the acquired data but to Kvally yourself, you may feel the X1 is better but your opinion would not be the opinion of the majority. It all comes down to personal preference. It just so happens this gen that more people prefer the DS4 more as proven by online polls and other gaming websites.

I think the DS4 got a more attention because it was a bigger improvement over the DS3. From what I've used of it, I definitely think it's a great controller- and I hated the DS3. I still like the feel and shape of the buttons and triggers on the X1 pad though. It's like it was made for my hands- using the 360 controller now feels dull and even clunky, and that was the pinnacle of controllers for me.

End of the day, they are both quality, and that's a good thing. I do definitely think the touchpad ( and speaker, thank you Wii) on the DS4 was a fantastic addition.

As a new PS4 owner, coming from 360, I think the DS4 controller is fine.
Its ugly, it really is, but it works fine. I can think of a few things to improve (like longer triggers), but its not dealbreaker.

Certainly a vast improvement over DS3.

I think importantly, the controller is no longer a dealbreaker for many people when it comes to game or console choice, like it was the case last gen where 360 controller is overwhelmly higher rated just about every poll or site. I know many people buy multiplat games on 360 due to PS3 controller sucks for certain games, like shooters.

I would never let a controller prevent me from buying a console. There are too many third party solutions for controller choices. It's like "oh, you didn't play Uncharted because you don't like the controller?"...it's like...uh...no, I didn't like the controller, so I bought a different one, and I played Uncharted. No way would I miss out for something as trivial as the controller.

If I felt the DS4 was a better controller, I would look for a DS4 third party controller for my Xbox One.

Said it before, but between the DS4 and XB1 controllers you're talking 1A and 1B. They're both awesome. I prefer the feel of the XB1 controller, but I actually like the additional functionality of the DS4 with the touch pad. You can't go wrong with either.

I love the DS4, but the battery life and dead zone need to be addressed. Actually, it would be on equal grounds for me with the X1 controller.

More like, YUCK! Those PC players suck cause they get their asses whooped by inferior accuracy:hehe:

Nah.....my accuracy is tight on console....and that's coming from a pc player. Accuracy on console means nothing when players need to rely heavily on aim assist.

Console players cry at my console accuracy.

I cry at everyone's accuracy compared to mine. I just learned to accept it. That makes my negative K/D ratio fun and bearable. :hehe::grin::banana:

I think the accuracy on a controller can't compete with a mouse, but I'd argue it doesn't diminish the skill involved. So long as the field is level, it will still be about skill, and that's really the important thing.

Indeed. Controllers just feel clumsy to me, but then again, as a pc gamer first and foremost, it would feel that way to me.

I like the DS4's sticks until the rubber gets sticky and worn down. I think i'm due for some new controllers already. Oh and that battery life is atrocious. X1's triggers are much better. Other than that they're both great with the slight edge going to the X1 controller for me.

I still rank the 360 controller over both now that i think about it. If the X1 controller had the overall feel of the 360 controller with those better triggers.. it would have been amazing. Instead it's just a small improvement. X1's sticks feel good but they're too small. One step forward two steps back kind of thing, but the new triggers are such a big improvement.

What the hell are people doing to their PS4 controllers to rub down the rubber? I've been playing nearly daily since release, and my controller appears as new as when it released.

Actually I seen worned rubber on DS4 often in PS4 boothes. I think its a legit issues. I haven't seen the same issue on X1 controller though.

I gotta wonder what grubby hands are doing with the sticks. I've seen the worn sticks in online pics as well....just saying, a year later, and my controller still looks brand spanking new.

The sticks on the DS4 are made of some pretty poor material. Fix that and the battery life and it would be pretty much perfect. Xbox One controller is a step down from the 360. Sticks are worse and they did the impossible and made the bumpers even worse.

See I find the Xbox One a very nice improvement with better sticks, better dpad and better bumpers than the 360. But the battery door feels cheap and it seems to take longer to recognize the controller on the Xbox One when you turn it on.

PS4 controller is in my opinion substantially better than the DS3 in every way with the exception of battery life. Though I don't care for the track pad.
