The bullet points from the article (and keep in mind, it's an Xbox mag, so yeah).....

-You'll finally be able to experience how the Cloud will power the next generation of game experiences; 'how it will work will set a new benchmark for fidelity and emergent chaos in MP sessions.'

-MS admitted they only got the MP working correctly in the last year or so, but you should 'trust us when we tell you that it is pretty goddamn spectacular.'

-All destruction is done with no loss of graphical fidelity or drops in framerate.

-Cloud has been used in TF, Halo 5, and FH, but nothing has ever been done like this: calculating complex game physics in across a shared experience in real-time.

-CD3 renders 'hundreds and hundreds' of individual pieces of debris in real-time, for every one of the players in any given game.'

-'For example, you could be running away from a gaggle of enemies, and you could use an assault rifle to hastily carve a makeshift door into the facade of an approaching building, and that will synchronize for every player in the game with no delay. If you see an enemy above you, you could use a rocket launcher and rip the floor out from under their feet......no other game on the market can reproduce this.'

-SP is about powering up your character, MP is about moving and traversal because of the destructive environment and the simple 'strictly lock on' mechanics.

-21 different character models

-Double jumps, aerial dashes, and big weapons are a big part of MP. 'Health regenerates if you can avoid being shot for 5 seconds' and color-coded lines tell you if you're being targeted. It's a 'fairly simple but effective system, one that's designed to ensure that you're never overwhelmed in an otherwise stressful scenario.

-Agent Hunter is the prime MP mode, 5 v 5 to collect dogtags of fallen players.

-Territories is exactly what it sounds like, but as the area is destroyed things change quickly.

-The authors still have some concern over the longevity of WZ, because the mechanics are so simple. But they feel the use of destruction will make for this eventually.

-Certain Affinity (made up of ex-Bungie staffers who specialize in competitive map design) are helping with creation and optimization of maps.

-For SP you can switch your character for different missions. They have different attributes so some might be better suited for certain missions.

-2 player co-op only, but 'the game has been heavily optimized with that in mind.'

-Dynamic encounters for dynamic enemy-unit types. As you progress further, the gangs fight back harder.

-It's set in New Providence, and you have to work your way through a 'litany of lieutenants, 3 Captains...in order to get to Elizabeth Neemand.

-SP has been done for awhile now, so they've had a TON of time to polish it.

-The city is more than twice the size of any previous CD.

-The world is completely open from the start.

-SP hasn't been shown publicly since June 2017, but they are happy to report 'it has come on in leaps and bounds. The combat looks dynamic, the graphics sharp, and the framerate stable. The delay has clearly done the game wonders.'

-They went with 5 v 5 for MP because they want your player to feel super powerful. If everything was blowing up all the time, they felt the individual would feel less powerful.

-This is just a bit of what will be possible with the cloud. 4k on the 1x, but any system playing the game will have the same destruction because that is done by the cloud. The didn't make the city fully destructible for SP because they wanted it to be more about the story, not leveling the city.

-The creator of the game is 'completely exhausted!' but 'happy and proud' of the game. They've done everything they can to make it the best it can be.

Thanks for the write up.

I understand their reason for lock-on however I was hoping to hear of a non lock-on mode. Skill gap is what keeps these types of games going. Maybe Microsoft is fine with this being nothing more than a demo for next gen and then allowing everyone to move on.

Hopefully MS can implement this tech into more exclusives. Any idea what kind of internet speeds are required?

After reading over everything, I really think the MP (NOT the SP) is really more of a tech demo for XCloud.

I didn’t even realize we hadn’t seen anything from the SP since June 17’, so that’s pretty exciting for me to see what they’ve done with it, especially since the campaign (and co-op) is what really made me love the series.

They need to start hyping this game already.

Okay... I'll definitely play this on launch day, but I'm keeping down my hype level, honestly, playing cd1 today and I'm not feeling it... it feels very dated and I'm trying to remember if I really like it to begin with. The saving grace for me prob will be Terry, I really love that guy.

Almost immediately they were able to compete with the devs who built the game. No progression system. No road map or even hints at continued support.

Microsoft isn’t looking for engagement. They are looking to shut people up who laugh whenever they mention cloud compute since a big selling point of their ecosystem next gen will be cloud compute.

I have a feeling lots of people will play the multiplayer for an hour or two. Very few will ever hit 10 hours of play time.

Hope we’ll see this tech implemented in Halo Infinite.

I think it may do better than many believe it will. Maybe they were able to compete with the devs immediately, but I think its going to come down to how you use destruction to your advantage to chase down your enemy. That's where the complexity may come in. Again, this kind of destruction has never been done before so I'm sure it'll bring a unique way to play, too. Legit stoked!

Someone here would lead you to believe this has been done by many others.

I just want to finally see the destruction firsthand. Honestly I think it will get old after awhile if there isn’t any substance, but I really don’t care, I’ve waited years to try it out.

And I only really care about the SP co-op anyways. I’m expecting a new trailer any day now...fingers crossed.

I feel like lock-on will be really bad for multiplayer. What's wrong with manual aiming? All the damage caused by missing would be cool tool and make for spectacular fights.

How about optional?

Ive read comments where some said it looks like a 360 game - to which I kindly responded, "WTF?!"
This game looks brilliant. And the Cloud destruction is on another level. Cant wait!
Definitely doesn't look like a 360 game. That's ridiculous. That said, it's hardly ground-breaking visually.

Viewing it after something like MK 11 which is killing it with cutting edge visuals and rendering while being multi-plat is a bit disappointing. Especially knowing the X has such a power edge. Hopefully it looks much better in person as well.

Well that is all depends on people's view of cutting edge.

Crackdown games are always had a unique art style, if people are looking for photo realistic graphics than they will be devastated.

The style for this game fits and this game can have cutting edge technology to set it self apart.

It doesn't have to be realistic, but it should push the rendering in that stlye forward. I haven't seen anything yet that suggests this is true. The destruction tech is more innovative, but it's not in the main game.

Is any of that footage new? Seems like I’ve seen it all before.

I think there is one quick scene I haven’t seen before..? But it’s just a good overview.

Nothing new of the SP has been shown since 2017, so my fingers are crossed that it’s good.

Please, please be fun. After RDR 2 and the story-driven games I’ve been playing, I just want to blow s*** up and collect orbs. Co-op will be even better.

I’m expecting mid 70s on Metacritic, and the MP to basically be a tech demo, but as long as it’s mindless fun I really don’t care.

I know what you mean. This is a perfect rotation game to have with something heavier and more time consuming.

The older I get the less time I have to game and the more dissuaded I am from playing games like RDR2, FO4, etc. I need a “jump in; jump out” experience every now and then.

That’s why I play Blackout. Jump in, die right away and jump out. Xbox off.
