Destiny Alpha gameplay leak

I actually think it looks alright. I dont mind empty landscapes and long treks of walking though.

I aimlessly wandered in Fallout 3 for hours.

I don't know about empty landscapes, I found them detailed and beautiful. If by empty you mean no other beings, well that just kind of makes sense.

I meant no enemies. I dont want to be engaged in combat non-stop. That is how combat gets boring.

Yeah I agree, some plain old exploration will be good. Loved in that fourth vid how by unlocking double jump on his character he was able to reach that cave that looked otherwise inaccessible.

It was getting major hype, but since that last video the hype seems to have died down. The talk around the game seems to be getting more and more negative. It just seems to have evened out to normal proportions. They really do need to show something exciting though, cause thus far, it looks pretty mediocre.

It's a FPS wtf can they show? You ran around shot ran around more and shot. Showing a FPS during gameplay makes them seem boring. Only time they look cool is during trailers when gameplay and story are but together.

BF is a shooter, and yet the videos for that ( not SP) looked like great fun. That is like saying a driving game video can not fun cause all you do is turn left or right.

The game has no sense of danger. Four lone wolfs destroying everything they come across. Bungie said some enemies were harder than others, but all I am seeing is piss easy enemies. What is the point in CO-OP if you have no need to actually work together ? I am seeing nothing but hordes of enemies being thrown at you for you to destroy with your overpowered character. That will get boring quick, at least for me.

Looks generic, & last gen in visuals. If I am excited for the game, the last gameplay video will turn the knob down quite a bit.

For a game that suppose to design for 10 years, why made it cross gen? It not not age well....

You're judging enemy difficulty from Alpha footage? That could be a very low level mission and almost certainly not final. Also, don't know if you watched the last of the leaked vids, but there was some solid Halo-esque enemy squad tactics on display and it looked more advanced.

Ugh all these vids are gone I missed them! I've always been saying that is looks like a cross between Halo and Borderlands though. I'm more than ok with that as long as it ends up fun. Guess we'll see. Keeping my preorder, I know that.

I think this is one of the most over-hyped games ever. It looks solid, but it still looks like there is "something missing" from this game that I can't put my finger on. It just doesn't look like it's so ground-breaking that they are talking about it being the most expensive game ever built, you know.

From what we've seen so far, it's the lack of difficulty, and more importantly, a pace. Open world does not just work with a large map, it needs a proper challenge and deliberate change in gameplay pace to make it work. Destiny has had none of it. Every single challenge just comes and goes and they look all the same, not even a typical stealth option. Even though the game has high moments not seen yet, it seems like there are plenty of others that are just boring and low.

^
If that's the footage people are complaining about I fail to see the problem. Looks awesome.

Saw some of those leaked gameplay. Looks very Borderlandsy, but with a different art style. Fast paced run and gun shooting. Was hoping for something a little more tactical and slow paced. Not Mass Effect slow where it's clunky and people are taking cover, but not as twitchy.

well I got the beta so if anyone wants to play add me on PSN: Jurell02 if you want to play the game and not risk it sucking pre-order off Amazon they'll send you a beta code like 5 mins later then just cancel the order its what I did.

nothing was more over hyped than titanfall lol

I agree, I have always called that one TitanFail. Heck, I got way more for my money out of Plants Vs. Zombies for $20 less than TitanFall. TitanFall is just so limited for being an online only title. Destiny looks better than TitanFall, but I still don't see where all the money is going to make this the "most expensive game ever made." Outside of playing with friends, there's not tons of innovation.

You thought that was fast paced?

I was yawning.

Again, a lot of meh seems to be present. But whatever, my argument speaks for itself, I'll not draw it out.

Anyone else think this game would be made an increment or two better by being third person?
With certain abilities sort of being DMC like, being in third person would make it more of a hybrid action/fps. I think I remember seeing a hunter whip out a sword and it stayed in third person for a short bit, but then it cut away.

Point, I think third person would make this game drastically better due to abilities being used so often. It's just jarring being taken out like that. Sure in Reach and 4 you got used to it, but it'd work so much more interestingly.
Shoot some things, shoot some space magic missiles and bust out a shockwave cuz you're a vanguard and you can do that, then melee kill some four armed pos, all in one glorious camera view.

Maybe it takes more to process in third person. Alas.

Why do the people who always get early access to this stuff always suck at shooters?

I was thinking the same thing when this was posted in the Mutli forum. ;)

I'm judging the game based on what we were told and what I am seeing, same as any other game.

Should have thought to see if it was posted there. I always forget there is a multi forum.

Fully agreed on the 3rd person thing. I posted as much a few months ago when they showed some gameplay clips.

It looks pretty dumb to pop out of 1st person just to do a special ability. That and you spend time making your character look cool and then only see him when you do really jarring special attacks. I really just think Bungie is a bit scared to go full third person.
