There is something about this game that's off for me. I have no idea what it is, just feels like it's missing something from all the gameplay we have seen.
I am sure the difficulty was toned down intentionally. Aside from that, I agree with the generic game play. IMO, one aspect that looked silly was the random 3rd person view when performing some kind of energy wave that blows the AI like a grenade.lol
Seriously, how does anybody look at that video and think fun ? Generic objective, generic enemy drops, terrible A.I, and an almost non-existent sense of difficulty.
I'm glad you posted it here. I have the Xbox section as my bookmark and often forget that any other section exists.Should have thought to see if it was posted there. I always forget there is a multi forum.

Low difficulty usually has to do more with lower damage dealing from enemies and lower enemy HP. That was certainly the case in previous videos, but this time it was definitely harder in that respect. Gathering around like they are r******d, not utilizing any covers, etc. must mean AI is not finished at all.
I pre-ordered only to participate in the beta. It doesn't mean I'll buy it.Destiny has a lot of pre-orders on PS4 and even Xbox One. Look past the marketing deals, it's probably going to be a good game if not "megahype" worthy.
It would probably be more accurate to say that its Activision, so they'll pay for their 8's.Nah its Bungie so it will get 8's and above no matter what.
I'm not sold yet. For a public event, I wanted to see other folk playing too. I thought it be more hectic. I don't mind big expansive worlds to explore; if there are cool things to discover.

Wait, that is possible? Then maaaybe I'll do that too...

A soul lol.CO-OP? Level-up? More Players? RPG-element? Or even zombies?
I have to agree...for some reason every gameplay video or trailer has just been unimpressive to me. I mean it's not the graphics as I think it looks good to great and I even like the premise (the earth being ravaged and the "Guardian" Orb protecting the humans). I mean it could be totally epic but it doesn't come across that way in what they've shown. I think it may have to do somewhat with the player not having a solid identity in the world....we have no idea how the player and story are intertwined. I went to preorder some games last night and found myself leaning towards SO instead of Destiny (even though I know probably as little about SO). I mean I'm probably going to preorder Destiny as well but decided to wait until after E3 to see what is shown. I haven't read every preview/seen every video though so could be missing some stuff. The things I'm looking for from Destiny to really make me want to preorder:There is something about this game that's off for me. For those who aren't getting the hype for this game, check out this vid. It should help you understand why some of us are looking forward to this
and in Fable 3 you could rule a kingdom. I think we all know how that turned out. Reading off a list of developer talk does not trump what we actually see with actual gameplay footage.

Dang, another boring playthroughs. It's just like Borderlands, only it doesn't look as fun as that.
Wow....Borderlands 3.0?
Never even played the Borderlands games but this looks like a poorly executed version.
Call me hasty, but I'm sure this is APB all over again. If Bungie and Activision don't turn things around completely during the next few months, Destiny might well be the first flop of this generation.
Just looks like a borefest to me.
Not sold on it.
HaloLands
Looks generic, & last gen in visuals. If I am excited for the game, the last gameplay video will turn the knob down quite a bit.
For a game that suppose to design for 10 years, why made it cross gen? It not not age well....
Saw some of those leaked gameplay. Looks very Borderlandsy, but with a different art style. Fast paced run and gun shooting. Was hoping for something a little more tactical and slow paced. Not Mass Effect slow where it's clunky and people are taking cover, but not as twitchy.
You thought that was fast paced?
I was yawning.
I'm judging the game based on what we were told and what I am seeing, same as any other game.
Regardless of the difficulty, my opinion of the game still stands.
Nah its Bungie so it will get 8's and above no matter what.
GOATY 2014. Best seller 2014.Wow, that looked so boring.

Get ready folks.
There's a lot of confusion here, and we haven't done the best job ever of explaining the game or its structure.
I'm Luke, and I'm one of the lead designers on Destiny.
First, Destiny is structured into Activities.
We've attempted to build a suite of activities that can suit a variety of moods (I want something challenging! I want to chill out with my friends! I want to see where the story goes next! I want to shoot other players!, I want the game to be a cruel dominatrix! et cetera)
These activities come in a bunch of flavors:
- Story missions - soloable activities (you can still play them in groups of up to 3!), often with ties to the main story arc of Destiny (the campaign). These activities appear at various Levels (numerical, relative to the player) and choosing a higher level (relative to you) means you're opting in for some additional challenge.
- Strikes - 3 player activities, with bosses and loot at the end. Their goal is a highly replayable activity that will - at higher levels - lead you into the loot game.
- Explore - cruise around the surface of a planet in Fireteams of up to 3, taking odd jobs and tasks for the City. You can find minerals and resources out in the world that you'll have some use for as you find weapons in Destiny that you want to stick with. This is a lower intensity activity
- Raids - 6 player, cooperative required, communication required gameplay. High challenge. We haven't talked much about this yet and I'm not going start that conversation here on NeoGAF
- Multiplayer This is for the "shoot other players" mood.
Now, the second part is how the world has been built.
We've structured Destiny's world to have places where you will probably intersect with other players, and places where you won't. We're not going to have players drop into the climax of a mission, but the common landing zones for a given planet? That seems like a great place to see other players running amok in the world.
EDIT: Regardless of what activity you're playing (PVP aside), you'll see players on their own activities, i.e., players beginning a Strike might see a guy collecting Relic Iron on Mars, and a Public Event begins and suddenly everyone is distracted to take down a key Cabal target for a chance at powerful gear and materials to upgrade your best weapons and armor.
A bunch of folks are playing the Alpha now and we're already seeing all kinds of opportunities for places to improve Destiny. I have no doubt that in the Public Beta, we will learn even more from your feedback and experiences.
I'm not going to get into any of the recurring activities or gearing or class stuff today, but I imagine we'll start to try and explain stuff more soon.
