Destiny PS4 vs Xbox One comparison.

We're not turning this thread into another "But there's a 40% power difference" "but we don't see 40% more power" "but it's 40% better" "but special sauce" nonsense thread.

Exactly, but according to Xbox fans last gen, there was vast differences between the 2.

It's just funny and sad at the same time, that now that the PS4 has the edge, the differences are nothing (you gotta squint). Last gen, the differences were so vast, that it smacked you in the face as one was curb stomping the other.....lol.

It's okay, just the reversal of roles now this gen. Last gen, PS fans were saying exactly what some of the Xbox fans are saying in this thread right now with even more miniscule differences between the PS3 and 360, lol.

If you think with a 40% advantage that both games would still look virtually identical and its anything but parity then....you are not thinking.

Did you read what I posted? :meh:
I'm not denying there is an advantage to the PS4 hardware. You can see it.
That said from what I (and others) have seen visually at least relating to Destiny the game LOOKS practically identical even with a '40%' difference. The hardware power of the PS4 went into other aspects of the engine.

A 40% power difference won't translate into visual splendor all the time.

I don't know, as a PS gamer, I acknowledged the differences back then, it just didn't matter to me, because like this gen, it wasn't that much of a difference.

I can assure you though, that if the difference were in XB1's favor like last gen, we'd get the tons of face offs/lensoftruths comparisons with the constant claim of how much better the XB version was.

LOL its a held back difference

Some people are do desperate to make the game equal, that they'll downplay the differences as being "only" in vibrancy.

Um, no....it's not just vibrancy. If you look at the image below (and not on a freaking cell phone), you can see that the PS4 image is sharper with slightly better textures. (click to expand). not worlds different, but certainly more than just vibrancy.

It's like someone put a slightly blur filter over the X1 when you look at it side by side.

DF and Lensoftruths were so popular last gen on TXB when 360 had the superior versions. Now that the roles are reversed this gen, you can see a drastic decline in the sites' popularity... coincidence? I think not...

30%+ also can mean ~40%. :)

AY: Well, obviously PlayStation 4 is more powerful than Xbox One.

How much more powerful?

AY: It depends what you’re doing. GPU, like 40 per cent more powerful. DDR5 is basically 50 per cent more powerful than DDR3, but the memory write [performance] is bigger on Xbox One so it depends on what you’re doing.

http://kotaku.com/report-ps4-is-50-faster-than-xbox-one-1308239556

Speaking anonymously, developers interviewed by Edge talked about how the PS4’s component performance makes it faster than the Xbox One:

Our contacts have told us that memory reads on PS4 are 40-50 per cent quicker than Xbox One, and its ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) is around 50 per cent faster. One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at “20-something” FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,” concluded one developer.

But the most intriguing thing about the Edge piece is the suggestion by said anonymous developers that a cross-platform game might be held back from looking or performing better on PS4 so as to not anger Microsoft:

One source even suggested that enforcing parity across consoles could become a political issue between platform holders, developers and publishers. They said that it could damage perceptions of a cross platform title, not to mention Xbox One, if the PS4 version shipped with an obviously superior resolution and framerate; better to “castrate” the PS4 version and release near-identical games to avoid ruffling any feathers.

"I’m not saying they haven’t built a good system – I’m merely saying that anyone who wants to die on their sword over this 30%+ power advantage are going to be fighting an uphill battle over the next 10 years…"

""The most obvious point is that anyone looking at games on both platforms do not see ANY difference, let alone this alleged 30% - 40%. Both systems are powerful. Both are capable of next-gen graphics. I'm merely saying the application of that performance will mean the actual difference will not be that great.""

Last gen was so bad, that xbox fans were claiming large differences between ps and xb versions, but claimed little differences between xbox and pc versions....lol.

I don't see it any less popular. In fact, I see DF being posted here much more often...with almost every game now. Though I think Lens Of Truth is like out of business or something.

Read some more of what I added too for your information.

Oops...sorry. I am done :)

It is less popular... among Xbox fans. Just like how DF was less popular... among PS fans.

What MS says lol

Now reality
"However, they did tell Edge that the PS4 is “obviously” more powerful than Xbox One. Yudintsev said: “GPU, like 40 percent more powerful. DDR5 is basically 50 percent more powerful than DDR3”

"I know that pure hardware specs are not the whole story, but man, all next-gen AAA devs I talk to say it's 50% speed difference..."

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/156273-xbox-720-vs-ps4-vs-pc-how-the-hardware-specs-compare

we could list some games that are on both that show case up to over 40% power advantage in PS4's favor(and upcoming games) in you like.

I know when I just happened to be looking at that spot while playing the PS4 version I thought I bet that is shaper looking then that same spot on the XB1 version!

Let's save that for another thread on topic....MODs already gave warning.

Correct me if I'm wrong last gen Sony marketed their system being 2x as powerful and fell on their face. MS never claimed a power advantage this gen or last as far as I know. Don't make promises you can't keep is all I'm saying.

So then attack Sony for the claims....don't make up nonsense of this grand difference when it's not there.

Edge?! Wha?! The black mine in the middle?:laugh:

I'm not getting into this one. Too much nonsense.
