DF: Destiny Face-Off

I would indeed say it's NOT a forced parity situation. The game on the Xbox One wasn't even at 1080p at one point...it had been running at 900p all the way through alpha and beta, and the PS4 version always was at 1080p. They didn't hit 1080p on the Xbox One until the new SDK and Kinect resources being freed up were released, otherwise we would have seen it remain at 900p and the PS4 version was going to be at 1080p.

Not to beat a dead horse, but just to be clear, you think the PS4 version should be 1080P/60. But Microsoft paid Bungie to dumb it down? Even though Bungie and Sony have been in bed together since Destiny was revealed?
I spoke already in this thread not beating that horse.
If you want we could take it pm or PSN/XBL chat.

Destiny is absolutely a forced parity situation, Bungie all but flat out said as much. I'm completely fine with that though as the game looks and performs great.

Forced in what way?

And I'm not arguing the point or being a smart ass to you or Val. I genuinely want to know.

Bungie deliberately held the PS4 version back? If so, why?

I don't think they set out to intentionally hold back one version over another, but they were adamant about making an experience that was identical on both platforms. In doing just that, inevitably one version has to be held back, unless you believe that both systems are equal in capabilities, which they are not. In the end, I kind of commend them for not playing into the fanboy system wars and just making a game that is in reality platform agnostic. It should be expected that the majority of multi-platform games this gen will follow suit as there is nothing to be gained (from a developers/publishers perspective) from making one version outshine another.

I wish they would have made it so we could play cross platform.

That makes sense.

But I do believe developers should utilize the capabilities of both consoles to their fullest. I personally have always appreciated the extra effort in the past.

I think they are using them the best they can right now. I am also reading in Ars Tech, Neo, and Eurogamer forums that developers are finding that it's the CPU's (which are almost identical) that are really the bottleneck here and why we will see parity for this generation again.
