Glad to hear some relatively positive impressions. Definitely still on the fence about the game, but mainly only because not sure I have the time to really get into it.

I cannot wait. Two questions:

Starter Zones. If you want to play with friends from level one do you all need to base you characters on same class? Race? Alliance? What?

Free to Play. Aside from initial cost of game do they sell anything and if so is it intrusive like Neverwinter or pay2win like Warframe? I don't mind supporting a dev but do not like the tactics deployed in the two games mentioned.

1. Just the same alliance.
2. There is a "Crown" store but not as intrusive as Neverwinter. You have to go to the Start Menu to even see it.

Neverwinter is garbage compared to ESO. I played the PC version at launch and it was fun, but had its issues. Sounds like they have really made some improvements and that the controller bindings are well done, so I will likely jump back in. The only hesitation I have is that I will likely still be deep into TW3 when this releases.

The beta is over now. They say there won't be another one. Release is what, 6 weeks away? I'm trying to decide if I want to go with the $20 port from PC to Xbox option or if I want to continue playing on PC. I really wish they could have linked the PC and Xbox servers.

The Elder Scrolls Online won't require CD key on console, Bethesda clarifies

The console version of The Elder Scrolls Online will not require a CD key to play, publisher Bethesda has explained, just hours after initially claiming the opposite was true.

Last night, a Bethesda representative claimed that all console copies would ship with a one-time use activation key. Once used, your copy was permanently registered to your account.

"To clarify, you will need a unique game registration code in order to play the game, and used copies will not be eligible to receive a key if the code has already been redeemed."

This would have left the game with effectively no trade-in or resale value.

However, Bethesda has now revised its statement and explained that this would not be the case.

"The physical console version of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited does not require a one-time game code," a spokesperson explained.

"As with any other boxed PS4/Xbox One game, only the game disc is needed for verification. Any previous statements counter to this were incorrect."

Oh, cool. Thanks for the update.

Speak for your self, I played both and I think Neverwinter is a better game.

I did like eso better than neverwinter but i am not sure if i will get eso now due to witcher 3 and then batman coming out which will probably be my spending limit for quite a while

you can think its funny right now but Neverwinter is sitting 1.6 million xbox one players which it will keep growing. This game puts a lot of games to shame, first of all they didnt ask for anything to get the game on top of that the packs you can buy are fair price.

ESO is still going with a lot of problems and people still think its not a TRUE ESO. On top of that you have to put out $60 and have a cash shop on top of the price that you already put out?!

Please get back to me when this comes out and we will see.

I think ESO is much higher quality and it isn't even close. From graphics to story to voice acting to game systems. But Neverwinter does have that true free-to-play hook, where ESO does require the upfront purchase, so I could see ESO not having as fast a pickup as Neverwinter in terms of number of players that have downloaded and logged into the game. But I bet that over the time number of active players will be higher on ESO.

Neverwinter is a fun game but the framerate issues are really distracting. I also cannot stand the spamming and convoluted currencies built into the game to support its free to play model. Frankly the less intrusive and more straight forward a developer treats me the more I would support them. For these reasons I feel ESO will have the upper hand even if it means a $60 purchase upfront. I believe for this reasonESO does not have to lock bag slots, spec rerolls and character slots behind a paywall...I know that works both ways so its a matter of preference. Oh, and pvp in Neverwinter is pretty bad.

So what's the verdict with this? I hear that you will be disappointed if you are looking for a Skyrim experience.

Never was quite sure what people meant by that.

If you mean being able to pick up a plate from the Jarl's keep and put it on the kitchen table in your home, well then OK you can't actually do that. If you mean music, graphics, UI, names and places don't all feel like Elder Scrolls, then I couldn't disagree more.

i think this game looks like dog sh!t, Neverwinter already have their place for a while and its get better with each updates, also i wont be surprised if their expansion comes out right before ESO.

It's OK to like crappy games, but don't try to sell us a turd and tell us it's a pastry.

Everything I have read says they have done great things with this game... Can't wait. I just got an email saying my pc game will transfer on June 1st...would be nice if I could start playing on June first but I need time to finish witcher

So.....

If I HAD to choose between ESO and The Witcher 3, and I've never played the first or second Witcher games, which should I choose. I'm in desperate need of an RPG for my X1.

I'm in the same boat, though I got Witcher 1 and 2 on my PC but hardly played it. Don't know if I should play through them or get ESO.

Not even a consideration. You play W3 unless you really love mmo's. Even then, you should probably still play W3.

I didn't play much of the first two Witcher games at all and I'm having an absolutely blast.
