Fallout 4?

I have a feeling we are being trolled HARD and it would not surprise me if that Survivor site is made by the same a****** who made the fake trademark for Fallout 4. Just mere hours after Pete Hines said they wouldn't be at VGX, the site got updated:

http://www.vg247.com/2013/12/06/fal...nges-again-new-message-embedded-in-gibberish/

And on another site, a dutch site:

http://www.insidegamer.nl/nieuws/108489/bethesda-toont-niets-tijdens-vgx

Says that the website is now hosted from Maryland.

The site is run by misterx and his split personalities insider sources. #TrufFAQ'D :crazy:

Disclaimer: What I typed above is almost certainly wrong. I take no responsibility if I happen to be right or wrong. Which means it needs to be crossposted to MisterX.

Hoax, troll or not, it's getting me hyped as fvck for Fallout 4 which is almost assuredly going to be released in the Winter 2014 window (Oct/14 - Feb/15).

One of the key games to get for me. But please..... no tutorial level to start off the game? Just let us make a character and immediately be able to roam the landscape.

I thought the one in Fallout 3 was cool though, with being a kid at his birthday party and all, better then just stopping you outside and telling you to move the Left analog forward to move lol.

Agreed. Almost felt like you weren't even doing a tutorial but rather just a scripted part of the story.

Welp.. after tonight I'm going to have to change my name and move out of the country.

Oh, sow was a hoax after all, I really did hope that it was not. Hopefully we will see Fallout 4 some day.

yep it was fake
I challenged gstaff on that\
I said if the prey 2 site was fake and Bethesda said so
why not say something about this one?

but folks the puzzles were a lot of fun

Yeah they sure did put a lot of time into the puzzles. Hopefully with this new generation of consoles a new fallout game will come sooner or later.

f***ing a******s. Clearly people who have too much time and no life. It's totally up in the air when we can expect anything about a Fallout 4.

You only find it out when you go here

http://thesurvivor2299.com/f***you.php

Who discovered this?

Aww, mang, it was fake? Oh well, nothing has changed really -- we know Fallout 4 is still coming. In a way; it's good, because now we're back to knowing nothing about the game and everything being a mystery. I'm ok with that. We'll hear about it when the time is right.

Yeah that is true and we indeed know it's coming. It's known that Bethesda was looking for people to work on a bleeding edge rpg, that can only be Fallout 4, cause a new Elder Scrolls is too early.

Fallout 4 Survivor2299 hoax cost $1000 to pull off. Hoaxer reveals all
8 Dec 2013 by Paul Younger

Now that things have cooled down slightly, the hoaxer behind the Fallout 4 Survivor2299.com hoax has surfaced giving details of why and how the site came about.

Addressing the community, he revealed that the campaign was created to possibly force Bethesda to reveal Fallout 4 at the VGX awards which have just wrapped up. The plan was to release a CGI trailer when the clock hit zero but it appears he bottled out early followingcomments made by Bethesda on Twitter confirming they were not associated with the site.

The cryptic codes and messages that appeared over the last few weeks were apparently taken from a script the hoaxer had put together called “The Survivor” which took around 700 hours to write and was supposed to be used for a Fallout New Vegas DLC mod. It also took around an hour to create each Morse code and cipher for the hoax.

This was not a cheap hoax however, it cost around $1000 to pull off. The hoaxer explained that it cost “Hosting: 30$ Traffic (15TB) 60$ Phone number: Approx 900$. Domain 12$”.

The individual had servers set up in Germany, Poland, USA, Spain and Italy to help send fans off his trail. He said that the site was “discovered way too early” and that he wanted to have the IP address look like it was hosted at Bethesda HQ.

When quizzed about stopping the campaign early he added:

“When Pete Hines said TS2299 is fake and then I gave up. That was stupid move. I’m one of these ‘selfish bastards with a lot of money’ so I wanted to release a CGI Trailer. But Pete Killed my plans. Maybe I’ll release it later along with the script, so somebody else can use it!”

Will any of his work see the light of day? Apparently it may be released some time after the 11 November on his website but he want to “let things cool off a little. I don’t wan’t to piss off Bethesda at this time even more.”

The hoax really did bring the Fallout community together which was his intention.

“I wanted to force Bethesda to reveal something during VGX/ on 12/11, and bring /r/Fallout community together (for at least 3 weeks) Unfortunately, this plan Failed” said the hoaxer.

It’s been a wild but fun ride over the past few weeks and it was an excellently executed hoax, one of the most solid I can remember, even if there were many clues to it being a fake. The passion of the Fallout community really helped keep this one running and running.

Should Bethesda have stopped it earlier than they did? That’s something the community are pretty split on but publishers usually don’t comment on rumours or speculation. Perhaps with the VGX awards happening today Bethesda though enough was enough. The hoaxer did confirm Bethesda had contacted him today.

"I wanted to force Bethesda to reveal something during VGX/ on 12/11."

Kind of stupid to think he could force Bethesda into a premature reveal with buzz generated by info they know is fake.

Well said. Bethesda is rock solid when it comes to reveals. They don't PR too much, not too early, most of their previews use the in-game engine as material and I don't think any of their RPGs have even had a demo (at least on consoles). Pretty barebones and tight promoting.

I'm surprised Bethesda didn't try to take down the site in some way..... if there was a legal way they could do it.

I love some of the gameplay changes in New Vegas: it wasn't just running around with no other choice but to "kill the bastards". However, New Vegas itself was crudely rendered and yanked one out any sense of suspended disbelief. It was painfully crude and cartoonish, and the Duke Nukem quality dancing didn't help. The best part of New Vegas was the DLC. That harrowing excursion into the Divide, is my most lasting memory of the game.
