When Final Fantasy XV launched, the PS4 and Xbox One had a combined installbase of about 65 million. The game sold 5 million copies worldwide one day one.
When Final Fantasy VII Remake launched, the PS4 by itself had an installbase of over 100 million, so more than XV had, and it sold 3.5 million over three days.
I don't recall hearing about any panic when 7R was about to come out.
At the moment, the PS5 installbase is about 40 million. XVI won't do 5 million on day one, or even 3.5 million in three days, but probably 3 million over the first week, and those are solid numbers in general. It's also #6 behind Diablo, three versions of SF6 and Survivor. Can't be that bad.
May not be day 1 sale but demand is there for long term sales . Yoshi P even has a 18 months plan for it.
Aren’t those similar numbers to each three of the rebooted thomb raider trilogy game release did? And this fans originated with both, primarily, on Sony and Sega 32 bit consoles.
The game was also exclusive to the Xbox at launch though sales weren't as good IIRC.
Sales went back up after releasing on multiple platforms.
True, granted CD did say without Xbox footing the bill with the first it wouldn’t have existed. And that’s the way a third party title should be, mp, but I’m ok with whomever gets marketing rights, just don’t make dlc exclusive for a year and then nerf it when the new dlc is released.
Even with great numbers each release was a disappointment to square.

Dono if anyone else has Asian or other non typical western parents, but I can relate, get an a on a test and have your mum be like “why not an a+”

Their expectations are Asian level. A+ or bust.
And pc…. I wouldn’t be surprised if later we got a chibi version on mobile, then at a later date it releases on console/pc
They are also on the PC too. And Nintendo platforms too like Octopath Traveler.
Xbox gamers are buying less and less these days, so I can see why some publishers skipped it since Xbox is pretty much part of PC with more than half of Gamepass subscribers on PC. They will do it if the demand warrants it or MS pays/helps out.

I’d rather play on console, and with Xbox IP games that I want/need I buy physical, even though I have gpu, i got three Xbox’s at home, so it helps with games like SoT or FH…. I really want a physical version of hifi rush tho 
When was the last time you saw an Xbox exclusive game go on top 20 NPD? Part of the reason also is because it is changed now where you can play Xbox games on PC too with Gamepass there day 1.

Yeah Forspoken launched on PS5 AND PC.
We have numbers for UK with the Xbox : PS numbers and Japan too but Xbox never charts there . And there's always a bigger amount of PS players buying games than Xbox in general. And UK is MS's second largest market. In the US, Xbox games rarely chart in top 20 NPD ( if ever) so even in their biggest market, their own games don't sell nearly enough to chart except for maybe Minecraft which is on all platforms. Microsoft doesn't release numbers because they seemingly don't sell well enough these days for their first party studios.
I like to play console for narrative games and multiplayer on the PC
MS don't release numbers because they have focused on player count for years for obvious reasons.
