Game Lineup Comparisons v. 1.5

Myself, and many others I am sure, still go back and play old SNES, PS1, GameCube, heck Atari 2600, etc games that are old favorites. Going back just 1 gen and many of the games hold up extremely well compared to current gen titles. Another example, the Tiger Woods golf game from 2013 has a ton more features than the one just released on the next systems so many of my golfing buddies are back playing that version right now.

Surely it's not THAT hard to understand that BC is a pretty big deal for a lot a gamers

It is when you realize that the console that plays those games is still available and likely owned by many of the people saying that BC is a big deal to them. It's a nice feature to have on a checklist but most people don't really use it. If I were a developer I'd be a bit bummed to hear anyone saying they are more excited about playing 3 year old games than the stuff I'm showing off now.

Its huge, there are plenty of games I want to go back and play that I never got to finish or never started. I don't have a last gen console anymore.

Either way MS deserves huge props for giving people what they asked for. It was the #1 requested feature on xbox and playstation. Suddenly XB1's lineup will increase by over 100 games.

What? it's not the X1 line up that will increase sorry, it's old games that you can play again if you want but they aren't X1 games they are 360 games.

Neither of us know how many would use it. I know I would. I do still have my 360 but it's not hooked up because of all the electronics and ports I have hooked up now to my TV. Add in when I have gone back and played my 360 the UI is soooo slow now compared to the X1 UI that I would much prefer to play those old games through my more efficient system.

You can downplay it based on how YOU feel but your previous post you came across like nobody would find value in it. I don't know the number but it's somewhere more than you think and possibly less than I think.

Plain and simple.

If you wanted to play it, it would still be hooked up.

Those Bloodborne sales of 1.1 million are actually great. Dark Souls 2 on PS3, 360, and PC, only sold around 2.9 million. That was also with a 4 to 5x larger install base.

That's it?

BB scored well, but only sold between 1-1.5 million. Now, that's not terrible by any means, but when you consider Forza 5 outsold that game when xb1's its install base was 1/5 what ps4's was at the time BB released. Also, MS has heavy hitters coming this fall. Also, BB lead sony's heavy hitters in 2015. I think they meant for UC4 to carry the load.
You can't really compare Bloodborne to Forza. It's apples and oranges. And the whole fact that Forza 5 was sold 1 million units back when it's install base was much smaller is pretty much rendered meaningless by the fact that Forza was a launch game and one of the very few that wasn't a port of an already released game. So Forza had zero competition for sales aside from a free-2-play fighting game, a mediocre new IP from Crytek, and a zombie game of a dying franchise that only got resurrection because of Microsoft's financial backing. On top the fact that Forza is also one of the very few racing simulation games currently in existence and also the fifth entry of a long-existing popular IP. Versus a new IP spinning off of a more niche Dark Souls series that is still taking off. Tomatoes Tomätoes.

But as a lineup as a whole, Sony has already lost 2015 to Microsoft. The Delaystation won't see a decent lineup until next year.

Pretty much exactly this." On top of that, PC supposedly pulled a lot of that weight.

You really can't say this. No proof as to how many will use it on the XB1 as the feature isn't out yet and the XB1's market position and system features are different from previous consoles that had the feature.

Xbox One's game library is getting far more AAA games than the Wii U so you can't compare it to that.

The Xbox One is the cheaper console of its gen, unlike the PS3 (during its time), so you can't compare it to that either.

(Etc.)

If I were a developer I'd be a bit bummed to hear anyone saying they are more excited about playing 3 year old games than the stuff I'm showing off now.

:txbconfused: I really don't see anyone saying that at all.

Nope. I agree with Oblong. The Xbox One's features make it a much faster system to use in comparison to pretty much any disc based system that released before 2013. I would love to play (say) the MGS collection but the Xbox 360's load times, slow on/off, and lack of unification with other apps make it a chore to use in my opinion.

I still don't get the people who think BC is a huge deal 2 years after a console launches. The games won't be improved at all they'll be the same games you've already played warts and all.

Some people like going back to games they enjoyed. Others want to try out last gen stuff they've never played before.

There were amazing games last gen yes but if you didn't think they were worth making time for 2 or 3 years ago why would you do it now with a new generation of games out there for you to play?

Since someone's schedule can't be different years down the line? ::scratches head::

I guess BC could have possibly come in handy for X1 owners the first 9 months of this year since they had nothing but Ori to play :tounge: jk.

Yep, the system blocked out games that released in 2013 & 2014 as soon as the system's clock hit January 1st 2015 12:00 AM.

Seriously though this fall is when MS is finally going to release some exclusive games,

lol at "finally" -- you're hilarious. The first half of 2015 was pretty weak for the system (even though Ori is still a GOTY contender) but come on.

...why would you be excited to go back and play old stuff you've likely already played the hell out of or MAYBE haven't played yet when you have the best games your console will have to offer this year coming out at the same time?

Because more games is more games? I don't get what's so hard to understand. Some people want to go back and replay games from popular series before their first current gen entry releases. Others simply haven't played certain games that launched on last gen consoles.

I know it's a cheap marketing thing when they say buy fallout 4 and you get fallout 3 for free but who's going to make time for both of them?

People who never played any games from the series before? I don't get why it's so hard to imagine/figure out.

The only people I would believe when they say BC matters is PS4/One owners who still have a 360 hooked up, AAAAAANNND those who still play that system on a semi regular basis.

IE, no one who posts on this message board.

I'd be upset too. AAA games front looks bleak, No Cloud games coming down the pipeline or in the future. Paying to play old PS3 games though a hit or miss service. No EA Access. Good, not great online service. I dunno how many enjoy "waiting to be great." I'd rather be "great now". Watching your least favorite console get all the updates, AAA games, indies, mulit plats, Cloud, true BC, great online service, DX12 and Windows 10, Cortana, Forza 6, RotTR, Halo 5, (just to name a few) huge 2016 line up underway and a few other milestones.

You guys fell hook, line and sinker for the same old Sony hype, and now you have to save face. I honestly believe there are a few of you who would fall on a sword for it. I'd be pissed! It'll get old eventually...even to a few of you here. You'll have to admit that you fell for the hype.

I get it, though. Truly. Feel bad for you lot. (not really but...lol)

This doesn't make sense. Why does someone need to use a feature to say that it will matter to people who share a different amount of interest or have different habits?

I'm not interested in VR but I'm not going to say "it doesn't matter" due to it.

You saying 1 million sales isn't good for a new franchise?

Oh its more then 1.1 million and could possibly double those sales when DLC,bundles etc are released.

Eh, Titanfall did double those numbers on just Xbox One with waaaay less install base at the time.

It's not bad, it's not good. It's okay.

I play cloud bsaed games all the time on my PS4.
PS4 has AAA exclusive games(Available now) the XBO doesn't(yet) EA Access is kool,XBO has way 2 many updates, multiplats are better on the PS4. The rest of what you said is wishful thinking.

What does "old" mean to a gamer that hasn't played a particular game?

Old means new.

The value of BC will differ from person to person. I don't think anyone can argue getting free stuff is pretty cool. I do think there are other benefits. The install base as it relates the 360 to the X1 has merged.
