I bet a few usual suspects here will down play how good some of the XBox games are this year.
I'm pretty sure they've already drafted rough posts depending on the scenario.

"Redfall sucks, as expected."

"I can't believe Russia launched nukes. At least I won't be missing anything since Redfall sucks anyway."

All this all comes off as its only bad when MS buy.

Sony studios is about 90% bought.
MS just bought a ton of studios a few years ago and nobody complained at all, you keep overlooking studios vs publishers for some reason. Sony bought studios and the IP grew out of those studios as they owned them, MS is buying up established publishers that make multiplatform games and making them exclusive it's not the same thing. You even bring up Psygnosis for some silly reason, a company that was a minor publisher in the 80's and 90's and was still allowed to make games for other platforms after Sony owned them for many years before focusing solely on PlayStation and eventually being closed.

Because JinCA hates MS/XB and loves Sony/PS. It’s that simple.
No but just keep telling yourself that instead of admitting their flaws. Xbox is run poorly and has a ton of potential that's being wasted by the people in charge.

False equivalency is real here. Comparing Activision and Zenimax acquisitions to Insomniac and Psygnosis (lul) just because Bungie happened to publish Destiny 2 so now Bungie is apparently a publisher equivalent to the other two multiplatform giants hahaha.

They must be doing something right lately because Sony Bros have been out in full force against them.

No, people aren't saying Psygnosis is the same as Activision. People are saying that it makes the statement that Sony has never acquired a publisher completely false.

Just wait till High on Life gets announced for PS.
They won't buy it....it's digital only.

And you conveniently ignore that Bungie has a publishing studio that they opened this past year to publish more games. And who said that Sony's publisher acquisitions were "equivalent" in size. The fact that you support Jerry's lies is telling.

It's weird how Sony fans say it's ok to take away multiplatform games from Xbox, but it's not ok for Xbox to take away multiplatform games.

Exactly.

You can't complain about 1 buying publishers while making excuses for the other buying them.

We also know full well Sony would have made a bid if they could afford it. And no matter how you try to spin most of Sony's games studios got bought not created by Sony.

Still waiting on that Amazon/EA announcement.........

I read it as since Sony bought these so and so, it's okay for MS to buy these so and so. Unless that is not what is being said?

Console wars aside, both are doing it and both are doing it equally. Both are keeping a lot of third party games off of each respective console. Timed and permanent. They are just going about it different ways.

Yes agreed, but do you agree that MS just brought an atomic bomb to a gun fight though with these acquisitions? lol

Literally acquiring two large multiplatform publishers that make up approximately 80% of Sony's market cap to try and "compete" against Sony as if they weren't already.

Even without the Activision acquisition, MS already has more first party studios than Sony, imagine adding Activision's on top. That's not trying to compete, that's trying to overtake the competition's standing through straight financial flex.

As long as MS is continuing to push these games out day 1 on Gamepass without substantially decreasing the quality of these games, I'll be a happy camper.

Same with Sony, as long as they're continuing to push out quality narrative games , I'll also be a happy camper.

All of this promotes the other to do better but the pace at which MS is acquiring publishers needs to also be regulated. What's stopping them from buying more publishers and saying "it's for more releases on more platforms"? There just needs to be some balance and regulation because anyone can see if they keep doing this, it's definitely going to significantly change the industry and I'm just not sure if that's in a good or bad way yet.

Well this is all just discussion for you and I since we have both platforms and get to play them all no matter who owns them.

Yep. Also I might not be gaming anymore by the time any of this significantly changes things so

Hydrogen bomb, perhaps? Better than a lemon ;) iykyk :p

Cod will essentially become their madden, and like ea just post it on their stores as well and on (in?) the cloud.

But I wonder what it could mean for their development, like it’s been said that del down in the code of their games the og quake engine source is still in there. Could id support them, maybe this could lead to Carmack returning….like old founding members (from serval studios*) coming out of retirement because they got bought out by Xbox. I forget the exact details, but I think some og blizzard dev returned to blizzard because of the promise of change within with the merger/buyout.

And they’ve only bought two publishers within two, technically, now three years? I don’t know how it works but from what I understand is that Xbox already owns activision, they’re just waiting on approvals, otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to offer those ten year contracts.

But I guess Sony just might fear that Xbox has other devs/pubs in their eyes that they would buy but probably can’t, maybe with external investing. I’m supersized they haven’t bought more into epic, they probably can’t buy them outright because many external factors, particularly tencent. And to add some conspiracy sauce, Xbox is in a partnership with tencent.

Wouldn’t releasing more games on more platforms be a good thing? I want more tony hawk games, the Dreamcast version with all the og maps was my jam when I was a kid.

I dono where I’m going with this lol I need to go pick up some food anyways 😆

Sony would have? why would they do that? they had a deal that was working well for them, they were getting the games already and didn't need to spend tens of billions of dollars to do it. It's an idiotic move to spend that kind of money on a company whose products your customers already have access to. It's the same reason I don't think Sony needs to buy square, why spend the extra money when what you already have is working so well.

You aren't stupid but the continually comparing Psygnosis and now bungie to Bethesda and Activision is idiotic and I don't believe you are serious about that for a second lol.

It's easy to see it'll be bad lol they can't seem to manage the studios they already have properly.

You know full well Sony would buy them if they could afford them and the offer was made.
MS didn't go looking to buy Activision, they went to them and MS said f*** yes.

You can keep trying to ignore Sony buying studios. Just because MS spent more on two doesn't mean we ignore Sony buying about 20 over the years in order to dominate gaming.

MS did, it was an opportunistic time to start talks in acquiring Activision as per this article.

Kotick went around to other companies after MS first showed interest.

"Microsoft started acquisition talks with Activision Blizzard just days after the publication of a report alleging that its CEO Bobby Kotick had known for years about allegations of sexual misconduct at the company."
