I requested a refund of my preorder but Sony shut me down. This is the first time I ever requested a refund, its my fault as I knew there was no way I could handle 3 open world games in such a short period of time.

Anyway, Sony's reason for denial of refund is that I had already downloaded the game. I wrote back that preload was automatic and I had no control over that but they still denied my request. Ohh well, I guess I really am going to purchase 3 open world games within one month, lol. Lesson learned, don't pre-order unless sure of a purchase.
Neither Sony or MS or likely Nintendo are good about refunds on digital games, Sony did give me one once as a "one time thing" because I had made a mistake and wanted to order the deluxe version of a game but had accidentally ordered the base version.

It's one of the more negative ones.

Yeah, there are 100 metacritic scored reviews now, so anyone posting anything other than the 50th or 51st ranked ones are fanboys trolling one side or the other.

Here are the midpoint reviews.

Its pretty scummy to deny a refund for downloading a game when the customer had no option to download the game at the time of preorder and then had no control over the automatic download when preload went live.

I purchase quite a few games throughout the year and I'll take this as a lesson. I won't be preorder a game again unless I'm absolutely sure. Also, when I think about it there's little incentive to preorder these days. I used to do it for the digital goodies you'd get but lately I've noticed those things are pointless or become irrelevant soon after staring a game.

I am a bit salty about this, I thought Sony would at least take a quick look at my account. I had hoped they would take into account my purchase history as well as the fact that I've never requested a refund before. But none of that mattered and I know this will sound childish but now I'm rethinking purchasing Elden Ring on PS5 and instead think I'll go with the XSX version, its just a small way for me to say FU to Sony.

MS has always given me my refunds, no question. I just do it right from my Microsoft Account. It usually happens instantly and I don't have to talk to anyone.

It's their policy not to issue refunds but I get where you are coming from, if the game isn't playable yet you haven't had a chance to do anything with it so I don't know why a download makes any difference unless they have an issue locking it if you don't delete it which I doubt. Maybe they don't want refunds for games that get bad reviews or something so they just make it that policy?

ER had slightly better performance on PS5 and graphically it matched xsx in every way so it's up to you but you may be screwing yourself, also MS isn't great on refunds for xbox either but luckily you haven't had to try to cancel something with them yet.

Anyone know if anything from the first one (save file) will carry over? Skills? Decisions? Level?
