I heard it was going to effect FHA loan applications and my wife and I are going through that process right now with our mortgage company on a new construction home. I called my loan officer and they informed me we have nothing to worry about with the govt shutdown.
So...yeah, keep it closed for all I care. Less govt = better in my opinion. Millions of people have said they don't want the ACA, yet the Senate doesn't care what Americans say.
that is the core issue.. the senate doesn't care, but that is part of the core issue. The biggest issue is our representatives are not being our representatives. They are voting how it benefits THEMSELVES not their constituents.
this is totally ridiculous... imagine if everything they disagreed upon they take the government hostage by shutting it down.
total BS and acting like kids, esp Tea Party need to fire the lot of them.
This is LAW, i don't agree with some laws as well so is it ok for me not to follow them? good grief
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolutionary_WarThe war was the result of the political American Revolution. The British Parliament insisted it had the right to tax colonists to finance the colonies' military defense, which had become increasingly expensive due to the French and Indian Wars. The colonies argued that they already spent much through local government to maintain their place in the British Empire, with Benjamin Franklin appearing before the British Parliament testifying "The Colonies raised, clothed, and paid, during the last war, near twenty-five thousand men, and spent many millions."[12] The colonists claimed that, as they were British subjects, imposing laws in Parliament upon the colonists, and particularly taxation without representation, was illegal. The American colonists formed a unifying Continental Congress and a shadow government in each colony, though at first wishing to remain in the Empire and loyal to the Crown.
Laws can be changed and amended though. Look at pre-civil rights.
May I also remind you of the Revolutionary War with England? The American colonies didn't want to pay taxes to a tyrant across the ocean...thus the U.S. was born.
yeah so change the law through normal process instead of holding government ransom, that's how it's been done for hundreds of years not shutting down the government
so you think this is same situation, who's the tyrant here then?

If American's are calling their Congress reps over and over telling them, DO NOT FUND ACA...what is Congress suppose to do?
I would say the tyrant is the President and Reid. In my opinion, the President should act as the neutral leader, listening to both sides and listening to the American people. He's wanting his way or the high way. Time and time again, he says, I am open to discussion on reforming the ACA...but it needs to be funded first.
Seriously?
How is that logical at all?
he is trying to get it set in the law books as funded and approved because it is harder to defund and repeal then. plus, he can use that as a party line "see, the ACA was voted into law (without the house voting on it) and it was funded, it has to be good right?"
Next prez election is going to be insane because whoever the Dems nominate for their prez nominee, that person is going to use the shutdown as their primary attack against Pubs. Then the same thing will happen with the Pubs against the Dems, Dems caused the shutdown, etc.
I hate politics and I most certainly hate political parties. Gimmie a cool movie president like Harrison Ford from Air Force One, or Dave, or Morgan Freeman from Deep Impact.
Looks like some people are not happy about this:

True, though the timing is perfect. I don't know...I would find it hard to believe if an American wanted to go on a shooting spree in protest of the govt shutdown..., this is probably something else.

^ this is why I am an independent, well spoken Mr Sanders
Mr. Sanders is a self-proclaimed socialist. Yes, he has SOME good ideas, but he's for an extreme form of redistribution of wealth. He wants YOU to give up half your income for someone else who is a part-time worker.
I am just talking about what he said in the video, I don't know what else he stands for.
Socialism is stupid, I hate too much taxes as well.
Are conservatives stopping an economic catastrophe by stopping spending or causing it by refusing to follow through on our obligations? They say they are trying to stop our economy from collapsing, but it just might be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Something needs to be done obviously, but you can't just decimate entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare then double military spending.
Socialism is stupid, I hate too much taxes as well.
Sorry to tell you this, but the economy has already collapse and will not be getting any better. Right now the only thing they're doing is trying to revive the dead horse known as the american via fed printing...
socialism aint communismThis quite true hence why China is progressively abandoning it while america continue to embrace it full-on.
...and why the f*** not? Thomas Jefferson was a profiteering slave driver, weed head and an adulterator and yet his words on government still ring true today.I guess I can just take the message and not worry about where it came from.
