That psychopath will be dearly missed. He also voiced Saul Karath in KOTOR, one of those retroactive "ah ha"moments.

I doubt we'll be seeing any returning characters, unless it ends up being a prequel. (but then I read whats up there a little closer) I don't think a second krogan rebellion would be a very good plot. Doesn't seem grand enough for mass effects usual flair. Think a Saren spin off would sell or has his story been told enough through books? Thinking back on it, a lot of characters are good, but not very many have the ability to stand in their own game, for some odd reason, I think saren is one of the few that have the...for lack of a better term,"character," to do it.

I just hope they don't move it 200 plus years ahead so they don't have to pick a cannon ending.

Though I'm fine with the idea, I'm thinking that's exactly what you're gonna get.

Bioware is doing a survey, so go here to give your input. I took the survey. It's very brief. The questions are very general, mostly about what you value in RPGs. It doesn't get into the specifics of ME4 (e.g., do you a want it to be a prequel, etc.).

"Michael Gamble, Bioware‘s producer, has tweeted about a survey that will help the team while making the next Mass Effect game, inviting all the fans to help them out by voting.

You can help as well and cast your vote here to help in next Mass Effect’s developing process.

WTF does cosplay enjoyment have to do with game development ?

I'd say that's a pretty good sign that the game won't be out for quite some time.

I appreciate Bioware taking fan opinions into their games, I really do. I just hope that they take all ideas with a hint of reality. Because if they were to use fan stats from the last Mass effect games, there would be only 1 class( the soldier), the games would be shorter so players would actually finish the game, and no female character cause we'd all just use the stock male character.

Yeah, there's a lot of unimaginative gamers out there. Fortunately, the guys who auto-pick a male Soldier and don't complete the game aren't likely to be the ones filling out a survey.

I don't think that survey will really help them in shaping ME4. The only relevant questions had to do with what parts of an RPG you value the most. I was expecting more specific questions (e.g., what colors should the endings be, etc).

The Class choice does not surprise at all. Soldier is the most accessible of all the classes. I always started off with that class and then used a different class per play-through.

Its funny cause if you went on the Bioware forums all most of them care about is the female Shepard. In fact its a bit of a scary obsession they have with her and romances.

There and other sites. They'd go on and on about Jennifer Hale's voice acting was so superior to Mark Meer's(I thought both were done well) or how much better the game was with fem shepard. Well the stat shows alot of them were blowing smoke as hardly anyone played as fem shep.

I preferred Jennifer Hale's voice acting, too. I thought Meer was meerly adequate. Jennifer Hale had more personality. Fem Shep also got better adoption rates than most female characters. I think Bioware was justifiably proud of that and how she turned out. I'm glad, too. So many female characters are garbage; Fem Shep was well done. I'll often play as a female character, if I get the option. I'll probably do it in DA:I, too.

It means that the costume design for characters will always take cosplay into account as in Dragon Age Inquisition, I suppose. With that game, Bioware is already releasing a cosplay guideline through blog, so they clearly thought that element during the design process.

If statistics made things that way, the first thing to go away would be a bisexual relationship, which is far from going away.

Yeah, in fact, Bioware seems to be more conscious than most developers about making room for the minority viewpoint in their games. That's good, although it feels a little PC to me, sometimes (but then, I'm a heterosexual white male; I would probably feel differently, if I weren't).

I hate PC and I have no problem with Bioware on that. PCish attitude starts to be a problem when it turns into a propaganda rather than a narrative. If Bioware turned anti-Geth Quarians or anti-Mage Templars into a total dick that would have been the PC attitude that I absolutely hate, but fortunately enough, this has never happened with Bioware so far, as they have been putting a dilemma for choices that seem politically correct or wrong; you kinda understamd the voice from the other side even when you make your choice. Hopefully, such dilemma would be reinforced in future Bioware games.

I never liked Hale in ME.

Meer got better as the series went on but she always sounded so false and was trying too hard to make herself sound tough.

That is not a good thing. I want amazingly awesome and crazy armour for my lesbian Shepard. Not dull, everyday attire to suit some weird game of dress up. Just make the birthday suit an option and the cosplay folk can dress that way:D

Exactly what I thought, but say that on the bioware forums and you'll get laughed out of the room.

Hale tried to be too tough like you said, the direction that Meer avoided later on. He understood the jokes in the script which prevailed in 2 and 3, and made them fun. It's not tough nor badass, but he was clearly better at emotional scenes and one-liner.

Agreed. It's basically a way of saying they are making costumes that can actually be made with real life material. While I can't remembee any Anime-esque impossible costumes in Bioware games, this sounds like a limitation.

I disagree with the opinions about Meer > Hale. I'm not one of the fanatics, though, so I'll just chalk it up to a difference of opinion. I also think it has something to do with who you playthrough as first. You get attached to that particular rendition of the character, so that the alternative feels off somehow. Anyhow, different strokes.

I liked both but preferred Meer. Meer didn't sound like a hardened soldier but a relate-able human being as far as emotions go. Hale was a hardened soldier through and through for every encounter. Diffenrent strokes as you say.

I still need to play ME3. I started it when it launched but could not get in to it( despite being a big fan of the previous 2). Perhaps it is time to re-install and give it another crack.

That wasn't my experience of Hale's rendition at all, but okay. Imo, Meer was too flat, and Hale was more expressive. I didn't get any sense of personality at all from Meer. But, whatever.

I think it's testament to Bioware, that they created a character over which people still argue, years later, about whose voice actor was better.

Side Note:
This can't get any geekier. A bunch of RPG guys arguing over the best voice actors for a series on a video game forum. If nothing else, we're going to have a great debate for the 4 voice actors chosen to voice the Inquisitor in DA:I

Whatever Bioware does, just please no Mako resource gathering or planet scanning.

If not those, then what? If they do nothing, I feel it might be a feature too shallow.

But, I like planet scanning, so..

It just needs to be a more varied and in depth process. As is was it was just too simple and thus it grew tiresome quickly. I want it to stay, but it needs to evolve. It needs to be a mini-game within the game. Maybe look at how Eve Online does mining.

I wasn't one of the people who lost my mind at the end of Mass Effect 3 but I do agree that it could have been MUCH better. Obviously ME3 fell off the rails a bit! I pretty much agree (or at least understand the argument) with all the points here on what it'll take for ME4 to get everything back on track.

All I know for sure is that the ME universe is too good and too deep for them to screw it up. They have to give it the respect it deserves. Also.... make a damn movie already. A GOOD ONE!
