Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, HiFi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More

Austin might have been closed without the merger mainly because it's looking like most had already left due to not wanting to work on Redfall.

Why do we care what an abusive former boss has to say? :p lol. I'm sure Phil isn't happy about having to do it, nobody with a heart would be but a lot of the issues that xbox has faced over the last gen and a half have been over decisions Phil made.

So, is everyone going to destroy another Xbox console or trade it in?

It sucks for people losing their jobs and for anyone who enjoys their games, but I've never liked a single game any of those studios have ever made.

My Xbox consoles are safe for now.

I don't think they're cooked, but the public perception of Xbox is dropping, fast. Hardware numbers are lackadaisical, while software is good to average. Gamepass numbers look to have plateaued and 3rd parties still are skipping releases on your platform both physically and digitally without too much impunity to their bottom line.

I'm not Dooming and Gloming, but look where we are at. It wouldn't surprise me if the Series S/X doesn't out sell the Xbox One and that's saying ALOT.
It's beyond doom for console hardware... I dipped out in Dec and will never trust them again.

The rumored portable makes sense though and I can see it being highly successful.

So it's based on "some people posted" and "who knows". Which is my point. For all we know these studios could have been shuttered months ago if Zenimax was still independent.

Some of the narrative being thrown around was that MS absorbing these studios was to avoid this very outcome, no?

The question you need to ask is, was this going to happen regardless of independence? What is wild is that Xbox finally gets a Japanese developer, after this, I am certain they will never get another.

I'm not asking any question. I'm going to go back and play some more games. Feel free to scour the web on what everyone thinks happened, but no one really does.

This sort of thing has gone around one too many times and it's exhausting.

I kinda feel we, the players, are partial at fault, many didn’t buy the games that says devs produced. Even those that did, many of most didn’t complete them.

I don’t blame players. The consumer doesn’t have a responsibility to artificially prop up companies.

Being on Gamepass was supposed to increase game sales, no?

I feel subscription services like GP, PS+ made me jump from game to game more while finishing less games. Not sure why

Opposite for me. Gave me more access, especially smaller titles. Played and finished the majority of the ones I've chosen. I still have a back log of games to play.
