Microsoft Closes Redfall Developer Arkane Austin, HiFi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks, and More

Why is it that an email exists stating the reason for this and is posted and yet this thread turned it to a Twitter-esque dumpster fire.

Come on people. Seriously.

Cause it's getting harder to believe anything they say.

IMO it's a niche game. I don't expect it to sell well. I think the first one only sold a million.
My guess as to one reason they keep them is their knowledge and skills with the Unreal Engine, wouldn’t be surprised if they have members join the new support studio

Depends how well it sells... But considering hifi beat all metrics. Does it even matter at this point?

Wasn't sustainability a bit thing a couple years back when Zenimax was acquired ? If smaller studios are not , big titles will need to sell crap loads to make up for being on Gamepass because it seems just having good numbers isn't good enough apparently.
You think Housemarque is safe if their next game is a dud? What about Haven?

Everybody is day to day based on recent performance.

Well, I am going all in on PlayStation now. Seals the deal.

I'll just point out that rather than keep Arkane - Austin open to finish out the Bite Back Edition, they shuttered them and are offering refunds. I think that says as lot as to how close they were to having it ready, despite the game being out a year. Things clearly weren't moving in the right direction there.

I don't think it's just MS. Something like this.

Insomniac had layoffs and they're the best developer in the world, so does it even matter at this point?

They were last gen but they have been missing the mark so far this gen with new games. Their studio is alive and well though due to great success with previous titles.

Hifi rush wasn't a dud though and they weren't safe. So what exactly do studios need to do to stay alive these days? By all means, if the game is bad and sells poorly I can see some reasoning. Or if development hell has been going for a while.
