- Both X1 and PS4 have about 2M sales each in roughly the same number of days being compared against
- X1 shipped in 13 countries uniformly on Nov 22
- PS4 had a staggered ship with NA on Nov 15 (a week early in the biggest market), then to a slew more countries to total 32 countries at the end of Nov
- Hard to compare launches as the ship periods are not apples to apples
I can't believe it. I'd swear that PS4 releasing for $100 less, in more countries, with better PR, and with every online poll heavily favouring it should at least sell 2:1, never mind the 3:1 and 4:1 ratios.
Goes to show that clicking a vote button and voting with a wallet are two completely different things. Who would have thought that? I'm positive online polls are the be all and end all.
That aside, good for both systems. The gloom and doom about console gaming dying off due to F2P and 99 cent tablet and smartphone games is definitely not true.

Well.... technically there is butthurt in this thread also.Would you please give out the number of butt hurt individuals there has to be before we can officially say the butt hurt is real.
Also on the last page of that thread they are arguing if MS is lying about the numbers.
What we have now is a healthy competition, with both consoles selling well on their respective merits, and a grudging respect--with notable exceptions, of course--by both parties for the others machine and tech.
I took a quick skim of a certain forum to see what the posts were like. Well, if I'm a believer of sour faced posters, I'd say that MS is BSing their number and that it's impossible for them to sell 2M. More like 1M tops.
Its still early days.
Launch period are not reflective of long terms sales. Obviously people who buy new consoles at launch period are more on the hard-core side (considering most of the games available now can be played on current gen consoles) , & paying 500 bucks or more isn't an issue for the hardcore.
We will need to wait a little longer, after the holiday period, & the fanfare of a new console on the market died off before we have a better idea how each console does.

Now that both systems seem to have pretty close sales so far (PS4 is probably still ahead due to hype and the 19 more countries it's released in), at least now all the 2:1, 3:1, 4:1 and "According to no-name site X conducting no-name poll Y, online click research shows Console Z is going to have a 3:1 purchase advantage" articles should theoretically be put to rest for a bit and now we can concentrate on games and features. Goes to show what a farce all those weird polls are.
Reminds me of the Howard Stern online poll from the late 90s when Hank the Dwarf won a "Most Beautiful Person Award" over A-list stars because every excited Howard Stern fan flooded online polls on purpose. He technically won, but the People Magazine pulled it and gave to Leonardo DiCaprio to save face.
What I like about the PlayStation 4 is that it's not trying to be an Xbox. It seems more like the logical evolution of the PlayStation 2, a console I still play a lot. It's got the same kind of quirky design esthetic that startles the eye and then grows on you. It will be my number two console one day.

I said it all along, much of the MS hate is from people who were never going to buy one anyway. The bulk of the negativity is just noise on message boards, not indicative of the bulk of the people. Lots of gamers never go to a place like this.
Word of mouth is getting out there. There's still lots of gamers who are waiting on a next gen system and both systems are going to keep selling. If Titanfall turns out to be really good it will be a huge boost for X1 as well.
I'm actually thinking Sony sells more worldwide both short and long term, but I have no worries about X1 either. Reviews have been positive and you really don't hear too many negative things about it outside of a few smaller issues.
Last gen was mainly the years of the PS3 as Sony had more GOTY award winning higher rated 1st party offerings.
Good, I'll be getting a PS4 eventually. Something about the 4 brings back fond memories of the 1 and 2.

It's not too often you'll see bunches of gamers claim a sales report is bogus and the company is lying about numbers. but if it's going to happen I'm not surprised it's a certain sour group of people claiming MS is lying.
I fully expect that we'll see a bunch of fanboys claiming the numbers are bogus no matter what they say. Stupid knows no borders.
I forgot about Titanfall being in spring. Good point! MS really has done a great job covering their bases with all the exclusives so far. I'm very impressed by the post 360 turnaround. It's like they finally get it after a long generation of Halo and Gears. It would be cool to see some indie exclusives as well this time. They really remind me of OG Xbox era so far, with all the exclusives. Just get Turn 10 to do a Rallysport and all is good. (no Dice) :-P
In the beginning of the xbox 360s launch they were all about the exclusives also.
