MS Surface

Looks like MS might be dropping XBox branded games on windows phone.

Leaked backgrounds for 8.1. Looks really slick!

Anybody here still rockin the 920? Just wondering if it still holds up as a good phone. I'm thinking about buying one soon for an off contract plan, I don't really wanna deal with subsidized plans anymore. They have them on Amazon for $300 and it seems like a good price.

I'd considered the Lumia Icon when I was ready to upgrade last year, but my research said it'd be a bad move considering how embedded I am with Google's services, which are fantastic with apps that are equally so. Microsoft is getting closer and closer to the zeitgeist after all of those years spinning in the mud, but they're just not quite there yet. On the other hand, I love my Nexus 5. Have had it four months now and the thing screams.

I have the 920, awesome phone. Besides my 1020 (camera) and my 1520, it's my best phone to date. If you're used to the WP environment I wouldn't even bother switching to an Android phone. Especially not with 8.1 and the format coming.

For $300 is it unlocked?

They have them for about $250 unlocked through a bunch of random sellers. $300 locked to AT&T. I have a dumb phone now and I pretty much use all MS services anyway so I'm pretty much dead set on getting WP, and 8.1 looks sweet. I know the 1520 got the better specs right now and that have those for about $500, but is the size easy to get used to?

At first it can look cumbersome and oversized, but overall it's the best of the bunch. I still use my 920 however, like I said... probably the best phone I've owned.

Exclusive: I used Microsoft’s Surface watch

yes its coming and the article I saw at work today, which I now cannot find
tied it to the xbox one
so this will have to do
the pic shown is not what it looks like

Microsoft’s plan is to ensure that the Surface smartwatch works across different platforms. So far, we’ve learned that it’ll be compatible with iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, Windows, OS X, and even Xbox One. Teams are hard at work on building software for each platform that will give users of each a full experience. In other words, Microsoft realizes that for this thing to compete, it cannot be a Windows/Windows Phone-only affair.
We’ve also been told that the biometric sensors might be used in unique ways. We mentioned Xbox One up there. We were told to imagine a scenario where a game might get streaming sensor data from the watch, and could recognize when you were, say, turning an imaginary wheel with a driving game where the Surface watch data would be used in conjunction with Kinect for even more precise play. Even more interesting? How about a survival-horror title that changes based on your pulse and how much you are sweating? Xbox fans, keep an eye on this one.

Microsoft To Launch Its Smartwatch In October

Rumors said that Microsoft’s smartwatch will be compatible with other platforms – iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Microsoft’s smartwatch will come in a thinner and lighter version of the Nike Fuelband unlike the recently announced LG G Watch or the Samsung Gear Live that run Android Wear.
Aside from this Nike Fuelband look, it will also feature a built-in heart-rate monitor plus 11 sensors under the hood.
Recent reports said that the device will draw on optical engineering expertise from the Xbox Kinect division to continuously measure heart rate through the day and night. The optical engineers – including designers and data scientists – from Microsoft’s Kinect division were reported to have created a software platform to go with the smartwatch that will correlate data from the device’s sensors which will provide a more accurate report on heart rate and fitness.
With this sensor-rich smartwatch, Microsoft is hoping for an Xbox and Kinect like success

As for looks, the report says that the Surface Watch has an “elongated form factor” and looks closer to the Fitbit One or the Samsung Galaxy Gear Fit than it does to other smartwatches like Motorola’s circular MotoX. Apparently the device the writer saw had a flat screen instead of a curved display that was bent to the contour of the wearer’s arms.
It also makes references to the Surface Smartwatch also being compatible with Microsoft’s Xbox One console.

Im guessing it's going to look more along these lines if all the articles are legit.

I honestly had not heard about these watches until recently, when i saw photos of those Samsung watches. Why the hell do we actually need it?

I don't see any of these tech watches doing well. People already have smartphones. To me, people wear watches for fashion and looking spiffy. Not for someone to be fiddling with it.

people said that about smart phones - phones are for talking to other people who would want to use any of the other stuff.

Id like to be able to sink my phone to my watch and be able to see text messages, and calendar events.
