MS Surface

They really need a yearly "hero" phone that they release on every carrier and their mom don't they.

Phones arrived but 02 sent the wrong sim so its either wait 2-3 days for delivery or off to the store to get one so off I go.

Phones a little bigger than my 925.

Still rocking a 920. Can't wait for the windows 8.1 update to start rolling out for AT&T.

Really liking 8.1 on the whole. Just about everything feels better but Xbox Music needs some updates.

Liked that 3 apps had been updated during the night without me having to do anything.

So the UK is getting Cortana but not voiced by Jen Taylor because MS wants a British accent...... They do know Britain is filled with multiple accents but the most common is probably English

I'm using a Lumia 920. Been using it since may of last year(2013)... This problem occured just now. I can't access the windows store and I have no idea why. I'm signed into my Ms account and even my Nokia account. Any ideas?

Reboot ?

Just wondering. What do you guys like about the Windows phone that made you choose it over something else?

I would say Nokia's hardware played a large part in why I chose windows phone. They're durable and have useful features like glance screen and high sensitivity touch screens for use with gloves (it gets cold as sh*t in Wisconsin). As far a the OS goes, ist by far the most stable and smooth OS I've ever used. Sure the app selection is not as good as iOS and android, but it has everything I need and then some.

MS announced yesterday that the app store now has over 300k apps.

I can't think of too many apps I'm missing.

Im thinking about jumping ship. Been debating it because doesn't seem like MS is going to be releasing any high end nokias on att this year. Have had a 920 since the day of release, in need of a upgrade.

I might be ok holding off on a upgrade till the spring if the surface 3has the same 4:3 aspect ratio as the pro 3 and a screen as good or better in a 10 inch form factor.

Windows 9's Metro Start Menu Nears, Images Leak of Newest Build
In its current form, the "new" Start Menu features two panes. The left pane will include pinned apps, as well as commonly used apps or hubs. The right will feature a compacted version of your Metro Start screen, with core hubs Microsoft considers important. If you click the "All Apps" option, reportedly this hub will transform to a list of apps, similar to Windows Phone's scrollable alphabetic listing.
One major change is the lack of a folder-based system for accessing apps in the start menu.

So Windows 8 users got screwed entirely. And Windows 9 is still hit and miss.

Back to square one. For a long term OS developer, there is a lack of creative juice in UI design.
First they change a UI that no one is complaining about, then have to reverse to bring the 'classic' UI back.

Well, at least Win 9 looks promising.

I am sure there is a free upgrade or discount to Windows 9
There won't believe there will be a free upgrade to W9, and I am not paying extra for what should have never been taken out of the OS to begin with. And even still with this new Start Menu, it lacks the old Program Files; instead there is a shortcut to the poor-for-desktop Metro "All Apps" of Windows 8. Microsoft is fueling StarDock's business. I can't help but hate it.

REPORT: Windows 9 to be revealed Sept 30th

The Verge is reporting via 'sources familiar to Microsoft's plans' that the software giant plans to reveal Windows 9 on September 30th.

Windows 9 is the successor to the much derided Windows 8, and is set to bring back the classic start menu (albeit with some metro flavour), in addition to windowed modern apps. Windows 9 has been code named 'Threshold' for some time, and is touted to further unify app code bases between Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox One.

The Verge is also reporting that a developer preview will hit soon after the announcement, debuting an early version of Cortana for desktop. The unified Windows Phone/RT OS is expected to break cover as well, putting the final nail in RT's veritable coffin.
