MS Surface

So the main difference is just screen size right cause its sounding like EE will be the only ones selling the XL and I'm not giving those bastards my money.

Really considering switching my carrier to get away from Verizon because of the 950. Have about a year left on my contract. If VZW doesn't remedy the situation by next November I might bolt.

Looks hot. So much sleeker than 1.0. Hard to justify the upgrade for looks, gorila glass and stairs tho. I get they want to keep it fitness centric but I would like to see a more stylized or textured band versus that dull dark grey.

Unless something has changed Cortana, 'play helter skelter by the beatles' should still work, as does 'next track', or 'text my boss ill need a raise' or 'wake me at 6 am'. All Cortana commands should work, but if you ask something commplex like directions the band will direct you to look on phone were it will have already displayed answer.

MS are giving discount to people upgrading. In the UK it's up to £70 off.

My gf is thinking she wants this and I'm trying to decide if I should get it for her for Christmas. She's most concerned about the heart rate monitor. Anyone here know if it's supposed to be pretty accurate? Especially is it accurate for things other than just long distance running where you heart-rate is pretty steady? For example, doing intervals (run 200 meters, rest, run 200 meters, rest, etc..).

I know its more accurate than the first one, but I want to say that I read somewhere that the wrist ones just aren't as accurate as a chest strap.

Ordered mine last night from the MS store. Really hope the can add music control.

Do you have an iPhone? I thought I read that you could access Cortana from the band. If you can, with a Windows phone you should just be able to say next track. My headphones have a mic on them so I can just hold the button and tell Cortana next track when I'm running.

Damn. Seems due to the new design the size is different compared to the original model. Shall need to send it back and get the next size up.

Sure is a nice design though.

Music control coming in the next update.

Actually forget I have it on at times its that comfy.

So no way to transfer whatsapp chats from the 930 to another Lumia?

I can't download Here Maps anymore. That was the main reason I had for sticking with Nokia.
And now they are doing more generic designs with the metal band around the sides, no more cyan polycarbonate cases.
I hate to say it, but I would need to be super impressed to stay on with Windows for my next phone. More likely I'm looking at a OnePlus or maybe a Xiao Mi.

I've really enjoyed my Lumia 920 from a productivity standpoint. I get more work done at work and on the go with this phone than I have with others. However outside of Official Microsoft offerings, the app support is less than satisfactory. That may be the only reason I switch phones in the future.

Here Maps gas been updated and should be back now

i have read that google and ms are going to make up and kiss and Google will put their service in the Windows phones.
This really needed to happen a long time ago. The app situation has been the huge downfall of the platform. I moved back to the iPhone after putting up with enough of the terrible YouTube functionality. Microsoft should have never been butting heads with Google like that when their mobile platform is and was in late last place. It'd be a shame if WP didn't pick up because it has a lot of potential, especially with the music functionality.

To be fair, its Google moving the goal posts that killed the awesome YouTube app that MS had in store for WP. Google has made no effort in bringing their apps to the WP platform while MS has released high quality apps for Android. Perhaps Windows 10 will be angame changer if universal apps pickup the pace.

I think Google corner them self now they are starting to look like the bad guy after MS have been all over all platforms.

And they are also close to complete with eco system.

Microsoft sued Google and Motorola to make royalties off of Android sales because it wasn't enough to make money selling their own Windows Phones. Google had every right to be a prick. Microsoft started that fight, and they should have known better.

Sorry that is BS. The lawsuits was for patent infringement not only by Microsoft but also Apple. Google was in a state of denial and let their partners take the flak. Whether the patents were infringed or not, that's a whole different subject. In any case, its not about who is screwing who, but doing what is right for their customers. By not releasing and sometimes hindering development Google made sure their own customers who use Google services on other platforms didn't have the best experience. Its no different to the anti-competitive practices of Microsoft in the 90's and early 00's.

Why you lie? How was Google letting its partners "take the flak?"

Saw that. Looks really nice but will it getting any advertising?? Not from MS who didn't even bother to advertise the 950/XL

Due a free upgrade in a couple months.

Its either wait to see if they go with the Surface phone or the new Samsung while keeping my 950xl for music and so on. Finally finding myself missing some apps and the official ones windows have need to some loving.
