Yeah those are bad numbers for Sony. As I posted the other day all but 1 game in the top 30 was a Switch Game

Yeah quite low. Wonder if it's because they have no stock there or Japanese just going more portable or a combination of both.
Both.

Wasn't Sony pushing most of their stock to America? Believe I read that somewhere. So that can't be helping.

Holy crap those Japanese switch numbers are something else, it really is a great console though.

Now we have the numbers-

-Jan 2021 - bar set for 250k ish for next gen consoles given history from predecessors.

US lifetime sales

PS4 34M
Xbox One 29M

Considering everything MS stayed close and shows why Sony have prioritised the region.

Switch is now at 26M so will no doubt overtake both in the next couple years.

Switch will beat Xbox S/X and PS5 this gen.

Microsoft said they had their biggest Xbox launch ever yet debuted with lower sales numbers in the US. I guess they had to allocate some to the new countries which spread the stock thin.

Switch is selling better than ever. Xbox and PS aren't catching those numbers anytime soon. Easy win for the Switch and its sales are proof people aren't worried about it being an old model.

Which MS also made clear.

We've had 2 restocks of SeriesX since launch but haven't heard anything about PS5 yet, even the scalpers stock is getting a little thin.

Double the countries this time.

A few PS5s dropped last Thursday but they were gone in seconds. I had one in my Amazon cart but it wouldn't let me buy. :really: A few other retailers supposedly had a little stock but again it was gone so fast. I'm guessing they are only shipping small amounts, either that or demand is still through the roof.

Microsoft Poised for Strong Earnings Boosted by Cloud, Videogaming
Demand for Xbox gaming consoles has outpaced supply

The software giant’s fiscal second-quarter earnings due Tuesday afternoon will reflect a period when demand for the latest versions of its Xbox videogame consoles has outstripped supply. Wall Street expects Microsoft to post $40.2 billion in sales, the highest for any three-month period and up around 9% from the prior-year quarter. Net income is expected to jump by $1 billion to $12.6 billion, according to FactSet.

Yea haven't heard anything about restocks in my country, they're very sparse, I'm accepting the fact I probably won't get a PS5 till later in the year, which is ok then I can get all the exclusives second hand by then.

Revenue =/= profit. Just saying. But things are looking good from appearance at MS side.

"Early today, the Yodobashi Camera electrics megastore in Akihabara, one of the biggest in the country, sold a huge shipment of PS5. All hell broke loose.
People began shoving and pushing, descending on a Yodobashi clerk who had a stack of an estimated 300 numbered tickets to purchase the PS5."

"Why did this happen? As Twitter’s AJapaneseDream points out, the Akihabara location is apparently only one of two Yodobashi Cameras in the greater Tokyo-Yokohama area that does not require the retailer’s black credit card to purchase the hardware—a requirement that was instituted, it seems, to thwart resellers.

What’s more, unlike in the past, the store gave out numbered tickets first come, first served. In the past, also in an effort to discourage console flipping, the retailer would give away raffle numbers for the chance to purchase the hardware."
