It's funny, everytime they come back at us with this title they're showing us either a performance drop off or a graphical downgrade.

Still, this used to be a 360 Kinect game, so it's definitely come a long way. I'm actually looking forward to this game so I really don't want them to come at us with anymore technical news.

This game is supposed to be an X1 showcase title.

Just to put this into perspective the new Kill Zone game uses 40,000 triangles.

It will depend on how it looks in motion. Also, in that gif, which is the before, and which is the after?
The one where Marius's armor looks silvery is the before, where it looks more charcoal is after (the one with the defined neck folds on the right side character is after, if that helps).

yeah I would say upgrade indeed, even tho the old screen looks sharper everything else looks better in the new one.

Yep and this game actually proves that. No one was speculating it wasn't 1080p despite all the footage released and the only reason we know is because someone from MS told us.

Also MS and Sony never came out saying all next gen games would be 1080p/60FPS.

Winner, the only people who thought that all next gen titles were going to be 1080p60 were...fanboys, despite being told for like a year plus that 1080p60 wasn't going to be a standard.

I for one was hoping 1080p/30fps was standard for next gen consoles.. was disappointed when I heard RYSE was 1600x900.. hopefully it has nothing to do with hardware and can expect future crytek games to be 1080p

Nobody was saying that afaik. Ppl were demanding it be the case as if we were supposed to care, and others were arguing (correctly) that high end PC games of 2012 or so would be doable at 1080p60fps though.

It's funny how optimizations that literally nobody would ever know without being told are being treated like downgrades now.

Yea okay.

There are still people (on this forum) that are severely disappointed by the thought of 720P next gen games. And 900P apparently too.

I've kind of prepared myself for the inevitable ( thanks Ketto)
The games still look great to me though. Hell GTA 5 looks great.

Hmm, Im just speculating here, but scaling images has come a long way since nearest neighbor scaling. I would be willing to bet that if we put you in an ABX simulator showing you games both rendered natively in 1080p, and rendered 1600x900 and scaled you would not be able to tell the difference between the two.

As other have said, I want those resources going to better lighting and other effects.

Yea DF already showed that the loss of detail between 1920x1080 and 1600x900 is absolutely minimal, that's 30% less pixels to render and that processing (and savings in polygons) has been repurposed to making the visuals looks better as evident by the comparison gif that was posted earlier.

I'd question anyone who would have rather had 1080p/150k polygon character over the vastly better looking 900p/85k polygon character shot. The old shot honestly I thought looked ugly as hell and the new shot shows exactly how much it does.

I don't want to get to far off topic, but consider the jump from GTA 4 to GTA 5 graphically. That has to be one of the largest software only improvements in a singe generation of games I can think of...

Yea okay.

Link to one person who claimed all games would be 1080p60fps. I sure never heard anyone claiming that. Like I said, you are confusing what ppl demanded with what ppl actually were claiming.

I think its because we've been stuck in this generation forever People expected more and I don't blame them.

I can see that. It has been a lonnnggg generation, and some people want to see bigger jumps.

I don't care about 720p or 900p, what I care a game that looks great on a artistic level and the gameplay is smooth.

I gave up the whole 60fps games with 1080p stuff.

What are you even talking about? I never said anyone was claiming all games were going to be 1080p60. I said they thought it would be a standard (because of new consoles). A person thinking something isn't the same as them claiming something. How you arrived at that I don't know or care; I do know I'm not arguing with you over it.
