For the record, I believe both are custom RDNA 2 based. People are falling for marketing once again like always.
I feel like we're falling back on the fake tech experts or articles with click bait headlines taking developer interviews out of context to go right back to where we were before. I'll stick with the feedback of an experienced developer working with UE on both pieces of hardware for now. The marketing talk of RDNA 1 vs 2 vs 3 means nothing. Series has more capable hardware accelerated features.

I mean Xbox fans here believe these Twitter "geeks" that the PS5 is somehow closer to RDNA 1.
My opinion is they are both RDNA 2 based with customized features. That's the gist from all I've read.
Again this is just a semantics game so people can save face, hand out L's....or whatever the kids call it on Twitter.
Mesh shaders, VRS and ML all can be simulated on both platforms. Difference is capabilities based on hardware. Having "their own versions" doesn't say or prove much. Tells you nothing about efficiency.
One dev can misread a situation especially this far from delivering results so I'm not saying that my answer is the final answer. I just don't see any of what's being offered here as evidence to refute that Series X is more efficient at these tasks. It's misdirection for these people on Twitter to get into RDNA 1 vs 2 definition technicalities.

Xbox Series X is the worlds most powerful console. It's also the only FULL RDNA 2 console. RDNA 2 > RDNA 1.1 and 12 > 9

I mean, until a few weeks ago the Xbox One X site still said it was the most powerful, so lets not take the MS PR as anything meaningful.
And Sony hasn't ever claimed the PS5 is the worlds most powerful console.....because.....incoming reasons.....
Guys, the most powerful console isn't real because neither official page for these consoles state that they have the most powerful.

We finally have a picture of the PS5 chip where we see it’s size and a point of comparison. A bunch of RDNA2 stuff is missing and what’s left is RDNA1.1. But yet we are to believe it does the same thing because of patents and technical know how. Basically message board talking points along with SSD and the XSX is not true RDNA2 because of CPU speed.
