Still don't think there's much point in making too much of how they perform on cross-gen games, and my eyes are for s*** so maybe it's just me, but my impression at least of those shots (i.e the ones not showing a small area in great detail) are that the PS5 ones look like they went darker to hide the fact that the distance is not quite as sharp (like the revelation I got when I was in high school when I got my eyes checked and was able to see that trees in the distance had leaves, not green fluff).
I am taking 2nd shot later this month was well. Holiday is troublesome depends where you want to go. I couldn't even visit my parents.
It's a comparison thread so bound to come up as updates come along. Besides, this is one of those BC updates that actually improved the most at least for the PS5 side. This is one of the first, if not the first, where a BC title is in favour of the PS5. Usually XSX is able to take the cake in most BC comparisons. The fact these are so close speaks to the improvements they have made.
FYI, PS5 always had the slightly darker gamma this gen for some reason. Even the revamped Metro Exodus complete edition was bit darker looking on the PS5.
The shots that zoomed in even more show that they are no difference in the textures in both versions and NXGamer didn't mention any AF discrepancies or distance details missing from the PS5 edition. He literally says on a 4K tv, the XSX and PS5 picture looks identical. I trust the words of someone who does this for a living, especially one as good at analyzing as him. But hey, if people want to deny it because they can't cope, that's their prerogative.
Fully vaccinated with Pfizer right now but I personally believe even 2022 is risky for travelling abroad.

My point being I literally looked at those three images and on all of them, everything in the distance to my s***ty eyes looked far blurrier or less sharp or whatever on the PS5. The zoomed in shots of course would not display that. I'm not making a comment on the game itself or any other aspect, of course, just my view of those three shots that you posted and I quoted. If you can tell me whose glasses I should be borrowing so that my opinion of what I see has any validity rather than being 'coping' I'll... get right on that.
They look the same to me except for the slightly darker look on the PS5 version.

87% higher resolution and faster loading on XSX. Performance is better on XSS than PS5.
I'm shocked they did anything at all, it's an old game that nobody plays anymore. That being said it's not really an upgrade they just lifted the framerate and resolution caps they didn't go in and actually enhance anything as far as I know.
Higher resolution with diminished returns as the picture is identical between the XSX and PS5. Faster loading I'll give you that. PS5 needs a native port to get faster loading speeds.
VGTech has the PS5 version at 59.58fps average through the stress test. XSS isn't perfect 60fps either with drops so we can deduce that the improvement is marginal at best.
For the best quality and performance, the PS5 comes out on top. If you are purely looking at performance, XSS may edge out slightly better but at the cost of worse image quality where even the PS4 Pro's picture beats it.
Higher resolution > Lower resolution. I agree, PS5 needs a native port to get faster loading times. XSX needs a native port with XVA to get faster loading times too.
But in favor of the XSS
For best quality, Xbox Series X. For best performance, Xbox Series S. For a happy medium, PS5.
PS5 best overall, same picture as XSX and better performance.
Xbox side - XSX for quality, XSS for performance but I would still choose the XSX because the image quality is that much better.
So now performance means win over everything else... Guess Witcher 3 on switch wins over Xbox one and PS4 versions then?

The market area is basically empty on ps consoles and sprawling on Xbox one x and xsx... With higher res.
But if the ps consoles have 1 less frame dropped I guess it's the best version also?

DF needs to stop making these stupid videos when the games are in backwards compatibility mode, there is no PS5 version the PS5 isn't getting demolished it's the PS4 Pro version running on the PS5. Xbox has superior BC integration we all know this but this constant arguing the same s*** over and over every time a new BC game gets "tested" is getting old, it's the same broken record every time.
We all know you'll make your "ouch" comment or something along those lines and then one of us will remind you it's BC and you'll pretend that means nothing when you know better lol it's the same nonsense over and over. I'm not trying to tell people what they can or can't discuss don't get me wrong but it's really beating a dead horse when it comes to BC games, they already had their discussion when they were new.
We are having next gen games drought . What do you expect them to do to make a living, took a part time job at McDonald while waiting for new next gen games.

The newest DF analysis of latest patch showed again not much has changed from the past: better performance for the PS5/PS4 pro and better NPC counts for the XSX. Loading times are still really bad for the PS5 as all non native BC games are.

Well the fact that DF basically only exists because they fuel the console wars I wouldn't mind if they had to lol. That kind of shows you why youtube isn't a viable career for most people long term, especially when you cover an industry that can go months between major things happening.
