Someone sounds..... triggered
Get your hearing checked lol, if that's what triggered "sounds" like to you I think you may have a serious problem that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later :)

I'm here because I've got both consoles and I finished R&C and have sort of gotten a little bored with The Ascent which I'll probably play a little more tonight. Still can't get into whatever the story is supposed to be but it's pretty lol.

The industry is amazed that a $300 console can run MS Flight sim so well. A game that makes some high end PC’s struggle. A game that finally makes good use of the cloud.

Sony fans are like, “Meh.” “ Its like Google maps with planes.”

Flightsim just runs great. My PC is 4 years old, running an Nvidia 1080, and I can run the game on ultra and solid FPS.

That game is a technical wonder for so many reasons. It not only looks amazing, but runs really well too.

It not only pushes the bar, but doesn't need a massive rig to run.

Where is the game part? you can set it to play itself and walk away according to wolf lol. Make a game that looks like that and has any type of action at all like a dog fighting game with planes and I'll change my mind, otherwise it's basically a tech demo that needs to be connected to the internet to get the full experience.

That’s a pretty weird way of looking at it.
It’s not really my type of game either. But MS/Asobo are literally doing something that has never been done. Innovation can sometimes be rough around the edges. This tech could lead to incredible experiences down the road.

I don’t play Ace Combat or any of that crap either. Action doesn’t make those games less boring.
Honestly, I’d just rather fly around without a******s shooting at me.

Never said walk away. The game will pause if you don't do anything after 5 or so minutes but it helps to put it on auto pilot when you want to mess with settings or other stuff.

Fly around and what? look at the clouds? when you get down closer to the ground it starts to look less impressive. If it's something like GTA where everything is interactive and you can jump out of the plane and do things on the ground that would be far more interesting IMO. It's a simulator not an action game so I don't expect it to do those things but I also know that's why it can do some of the things it does, they don't have to worry about so many things that most open world games do, no animations, no character models, not a lot in the way of physics etc. It also has to be connected online to get the full experience so the console isn't really doing all of the work.

Still any game that can let you walk away for 5 minutes when it's supposed to have someone controlling it makes it seem an awful lot like the game does most of the work and your input isn't all that important.

I don't know, man, seems like you're the one losing because you're trying so hard to win.

It's a win win for me because I have access to both Xbox and PS games.

With all the XSX power you guys have been boasting about, isn't it surprising your most recent two console exclusives don't have raytracing support right now? Something to think about 😉
Obviously it's not a power issue as it has been done on the machine, but more a priority issue. MS just doesn't seem to be pushing it as a must for first party, which is annoying. Imo, every game should have RT as part of a graphics mode.

Yes. Some people actually enjoy that. Flight Sims are a thing and have been for decades. Lol

Your second point about having to be connected is the interesting part to me. More so than just this game. The Cloud is finally paying dividend. Let’s see where it goes.

Might as well not play any shooters seeing as they all have some form of auto aim.
Or R&C which automatically makes you grind

And again it's an auto pilot mode.. which you have to turn on. Go play it with all assists off and see how important user input is.

If you guys are busy playing it why are you online constantly talking about everything but that? going into PS5 threads talking about xbox storage which both you and swede have done? Nobody is triggered btw it's google maps the "game" lol. It looks fine, it also moves at a snails pace and hardly has anything that actually moves on screen other than some clouds. If every game was made the way that one was they'd all look like that and we'd all be bored out of our minds in 2 days.

Just find it kind of ironic since Xbox fans have been boasting about the extra power of the XSX since inception yet its very first party exclusive which has finally released after 9 months from console launch is missing the very feature they have been bragging about. The PS5 is supposed to be the weaker console yet it has already supported ray tracing + 60 fps from the beginning with a launch game. I think this is what they call karma? 😏

The Ascent is missing RT on the XSX and XSS too.

Any news on whether Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 is using RT?

Halo probably in campaign. Forza Horizon 5 no. Only in Vista/picture mode.

I don’t know if it’s simply not a focus for MS like Froz says. Or if the studios are just better in Sony’s camp or if the PS5 just has some advantages?
I personally don’t discount the IO/SSD and frequency differences as possible advantages.

Supposedly, RT favors more cores, but MS doesn't seem to care as much for RT as they do making sure their games have 120 fps modes, which is silly, imo. Most tvs can't even support it.

They said they are working on it. Their 12 person team was too small to get it out according to them.

FH5 is.

They got it out on PC though, no? I hope MS helps them out in that Dept.

FH5 is only in photo mode, right? No RT during gameplay? Or did they change that.

343 said they are supporting RT in campaign? Well that's a good sign.

Maybe Insomniac Games are just developing gods. But even they said they aren't close to maximizing PS5's potential at all which is awesome news if it means we get even better looking games than Ratchet.

Which is kind of weird.

I think it's more a case of these games having to support the X1 and PC that the XSX is able to do 120fps as it's just pushing those titles with raw power rather than it being a design choice. I would think developers want to prioritize ray tracing 30/60fps modes rather than 120fps as a choice so they can push the visuals department.

I like what Forza is doing with the photo geometry terrain looks amazing, maybe they tried ray tracing and couldn't keep it stable when the cars were racing at high speed? As was said it just doesn't seem to be the focus for them atm for whatever reason.

I'm sure there will be RT in future Xbox games. This is a lame concern.

I don’t know how RT makes sense for an open world racer other than bodies of water. But yeah, no complaints on how FH5 looks from me.
343 I don’t think has said anything about RT’ing in Halo. But it would be disappointing if there wasn’t an option for that.

Tbf the SeriesX has been pretty well supported with ray tracing already from 3rd party games and the medium used it too.

There's already RT in Xbox games but they are from 3rd party.

It's not a lame concern IMO. If 3rd party can get RT working with 60 FPS already, why won't MS's first party?

Flight Sim doesn't have it even in 30fps mode. FH5 will have it only in photo mode unless something's changed since I last read about it. No news on Halo Infinite supporting it. These 3 are pretty big first party titles yet so far only FH5 has it confirmed but only in vista mode and not during gameplay.

Is it a tools problem? Maybe once they are able to better figure out the tools then they can implement it into their games? But that doesn't make sense either since earlier games like RE8 and The Medium already does RT on the XSX. So the only logical conclusion is it's a design choice by MS but they're pretty mum on why they chose to do this so far but like some have said, maybe they just don't feel it's necessary in their driving and FPS genres.

Maybe Val was right…… supporting previous gen hardware limits the design choices.
I mean Halo Infinite is on the OG Xbox One. I’m pretty sure RT wasn’t even a consideration. Lol

FH5 still has real time reflections in campaign. The vids are posted in the FH5 thread.
