Nicely padded out with 360 games I see. Lol. Plus, Halo Infinite and Horizon 5 aren't released yet.

Look at that list, is really a wonder why gamepass failed to hit its target.

420ish games on gamepass and 2 thirds are indies and previous gen (360, OG xbox) games. The rest are dominated by very old games.

Simply not good enough.

I think it's funny that the media paints a gloom and doom picture when it was almost a 40% increase, coming off of an 85% increase (which was ahead of Microsoft's target).

Gotta love gaming and media.

Do we even know if that projection was updated, or was it assuming Infinite would release last holiday season?

New Larger Xbox Storage Expansion Costs More Than An Xbox Series S

A 512GB and 2TB card will come out before Christmas, but for a hefty price

Wasn't there some news that Xbox was supposed to be partnering with other companies for proprietary harddrives releasing in November or something?

No release date from MS but MS said they have multiple partners.

These are close in price to the $430 2TB Viper NMVEs for the PS5. $30 more than a PS5 Digital.

My 2TB drive for PS5 was more than a PS5.
xss is weaker, cheaper tech that shouldn't be compared.

Oh okay. These proprietary drives are slower than the SSDs you can put in the PS5 and in general you are getting much better performance for the buck.

The Golden standards Samsung 980 Pro and WD SN850 are faster and cheaper right now.

Need a heatsink...

Amazon product

These should work. There are so many OEM's that will fit now after Sony announced official expansion support.

I would wait for black Friday sale though since we are only a month away.

Myself, I'm still waiting as I don't have need to expand right now. Just deleting and downloading as needed as I don't juggle too many games at once. Unless there's a really good price...

That isn't enough. If MS thinks 1 new AAA title a month is enough then this service isn't going to be as successful as they think. Niche stuff like Scarlet Nexus and failed games like Avengers isn't getting people to sign up in droves.

You say "those games make it worth it" but do they? It might be enough to keep what they have, but there is a reason why day 1 games still sell so well. Only a small portion of the consumerbase like either Horizon or Halo, that portion shrink massively for those who like both. Plus, Halo's MP is F2P anyway.

Simple fact is they aren't offering enough. 18-20 mil subs is only a third of the X1 consumer base, or a fifth of the 360 consumer base, and this service is on 2 gens of Xbox, and PC, and mobile.
That's why doing this in gaming is going to be hard, netflix can do what they do because they make TONS of new content and most of it is at least decent quality and has a wide appeal. You can get 3 seasons of a show filmed, edited and aired before one game is finished. The amount of output needed to do something like gamepass properly just isn't possible IMO. You can do what they've been doing and just fill it with old games and indie games but that starts to add up and when most people don't touch those games anyway you are just paying to have the picture on the menu screen to give the illusion of depth.

That is expensive as hell, I shudder to think what it would be in my country, I'll stick to my normal HDD.

I think they can do GP properly, but they haven't put the investment behind it before they got all these new studios, I don't expect them to drop massive games all the time or the business model probably won't work, but like menace said there's times where there's a huge gap between big games, and if you're not into co-op games like avengers and back 4 blood you're a bit out of luck.

Like I fully expected sekiro to be on by now, maybe work something out with Ubisoft or something, for me there's never been a shortage of games to play, but if you're not really into indies, you can be left wanting.

It just needs more balance and consistency. I think it can be done, but just not from XGS output alone.

I'm not knocking Gamepass. Even with 2 thirds being Indies 10-15 bucks for 400 games is still a great deal. I just think MS is at a point now where it needs to re-evaluate the content they put up and find more quality over quantity.
