I could be reading more into Uncle Phil's words than what was intended. But it strikes me that he says Gamepass is "Sustainable" and not "Profitable". I guess both could mean the same thing but then again they could mean two very different things. Sustainable could mean to incur acceptable loses. Ehhhh, who knows what he really meant.

There are 4 types of sustainability. This falls into the Economic Sustainability. I was a fan of my economics classes believe it or not. So for a business, going by this type, it is efficiently using assets (in this case games and IP with subscriptions) to maintain/retain company profitability over time. So it doesn't mean that Game Pass will be a big profit center. But it will contribute to the overall profitability of the division. Break even as a service or better. It would not be sustainable losing money. There is a difference between a "loss leader" and sustainability. Some people seem to forget that the franchises on Game Pass have a value. MS is building Halo IP, giving it a massive "value". If MS wanted to sell the Halo franchise, they very well could probably sell it for billions. That "billions" is factored into the value of Game Pass for Microsoft. Microsoft invested in developers, which all have a value. Microsoft invested in IPs, which all have a value. Microsoft has close to 20 million subs on Game Pass, which has a value. Not that anyone else could probably afford to buy all that value from MS lol.

As the end gamer though, the gamers don't give a s***. Most just see a new shiny game they can download and play. They are getting a huge value.

I don't see value in Game Pass for me, because I don't game enough. Someone who games daily, or someone that plays maybe 100 games a year will have an insane value for the $120 a year. For me, it might take me a couple years (literally) to finish a game. I am not gonna rent that game for 2 years. I own it for $59.99, and I can play it when I want and not have to worry about my subscription.

The fact that he said it's doing "very well", and that he said it is "very, very sustainable as it is" seems pretty telling. Sony gives us their success stories, and we don't question it. MS gives us their success stories, but why does there need to be black helicopters associated with it?

The time I spend gaming has increased about 4X since Gamepass started. I'm now wondering if it's just me. I feel like there's ALWAYS something to play!

You are there desired customer. Even more so if you take advantage of their DLC discounts.

Yeah, true. I wasn't expecting to be such a "good consumer" for them, but if just happens to work for me. I am probably more likely to buy DLC as I'm not paying for the games, regardless of how much I'm spending a year.

I also have been doing a lot of the rewards points stuff now, and it's basically making my GP Ultimate subscription free. I should have done this more from the beginning. I spend line 10 minutes a day after gaming.

Don't BING.

Lol, that's like 1 little reward compared to a bunch of others like earning specific achievements on Quests, but what happens when you Bing, does an angel die? 😂
Well, if you set BING as your default search engine and you have the BING extension in your browser, you get reward points every time you do a new search with BING. I tried it for a week, but my god, the BING results were horrible. I ended up just googling them instead.

Yeah, I actually prefer the new Chromium Edge for my phone, but not my PC. However, BING is still not nearly as good, even though it's gotten better. I use Google like 90% of the time. There's some console BING searches for the rewards, which I really don't give a crap about.

Who was it that said Sony or Playstation never praises or speaks good things to their competitors?
Well, TBH, I feel like Phil was the first leader I saw being so open about it, and has possibly shifted the pattern, but it's just an observation, and may not tell the whole story. I think they should ALL be that way. Too much vile s*** in the community already, and leaders gotta lead.

I think Shawn Layden was better than Jim Ryan. They went the wrong way there IMO.

Did you read what you posted?
Yup. I read that PlayStation was saying congrats on the big 20th Xbox Anniversary day to Xbox, and Xbox said thanks and asked if they (PlayStation) wanted to play games soon.

Are you reading a different tweet?
