Wasn't supposed to receive my PS5 until the end of next week, but I received a notice that my order is being prepared to ship and presently has an ETA for delivery tomorrow! Our office actually has Monday off for Presidents Day, so I will be psyched beyond belief if I receive it tomorrow since I'll actually have a bunch of time to enjoy it!

I think Ghosts looks the best

Ghosts of Tsushima? The art direction is nice for sure but graphically speaking , Demon's souls blows it out of the water. I played Ghosts for the first time on my PS5 soon after Demon's so both are fresh in my mind. You can still see parts of last gen in Ghosts but Demon's Souls looks like it was made in the 2nd half of next gen.

Weird, that is not what I see... Just Character detail alone in GoT far exceeds what I see in Demon's Souls. Hell, in GoW Kratos blows away how your main character looks in Demon's Souls

Getting up close to objects/Walls in Demon's Souls, and looking closely at the detail is really not impressive looking at all IMO

Just my impression of them after playing both games. The character and overall picture detail didn't look as sharp as in Demon's souls to my eyes. The lighting itself in some places looked a generation apart. Ghosts is still a nice looking game considering it's last gen.

I haven't played God of War on the PS5 so can't comment there.

The bosses seemed to have a lot of detail in demon's souls, well judging by a video anyway.

They do, yet Vanguard and some others don't look all that impressive. Some are better than others... like the Dragon God Boss fight is one of the most impressive things in the game

I don't see how Sony can be making so much more money by being limited on PS5 systems to sell, the fact that they don't make much per system sold in the first place, and having few new PS5 titles to sell... I mean, isn't new game sales where they really make their money?

I call this more of a bluff to say... "Look how great the economy is doing!"
They are losing money for every PS5 they sell but they are making it up and more with game sales and plus subs, digital accounted for over 60% of game sales in their last reporting quarter so that's more money per game sold right there, also PS5 games are $10 more than PS4 games.

I knew better than to get my hopes up with Gamestop, my order is still in "preparing to ship" status and showing a delivery ETA of today. Unless it's shipping from the Gamestop that's 10 minutes from my house, that's not going to happen. Gamestop, you cruel bastards.

Yeah, I just find it hard to believe they are selling so many games on PS5 when there really isn't that much to offer, and with limited PS5s to sell... Maybe PS4 sales are making up for that, but it's felt very dry in new games on that system the last few months as well.

One thing is for sure... Digital is winning, and won me over. Hard to fight against it now

The PS5 sold a lot of games, the attach rate is likely very high, Miles Morales sold over 4 million copies and the vast majority were on PS5, which has sold about 4.5 million consoles add to that first party games selling for $70 instead of $60 and them getting a bigger chunk of the money when selling any PS games digitally and that all adds up, plus they had a large jump in PS+ subs from the same time last year (8 million more) and that is all more money coming in.

Just weird to me a game selling more on a 4+ million sold console, than PS4 that sold over 100 million, and how everything is doing better/selling more in an economic slump, plus 500,000 more dead with 10s of millions of jobs lost... Just something doesn't feel right when so many are hurting/dying, and everything doing better

This type of lockdown environment kind of encourages people to spend more time at home. They can only binge so much on Netflix or another streaming service, so I'm sure people are looking to play some video games at home while they are unable to go out and do the normal social things. So demand is actually increased in this type of environment. With less people going out and doing outdoor things, they have more money to buy video games / consoles. I know, it's a weird concept but this sort of environment actually helps the video game industry. Also, I know many people who are waiting to get a PS5 to play the new Miles. So they are just waiting to get their hands on a PS5 first.

More dead, and more out of work seems weird that would drive sales higher when people don't really have to buy new to play video games during a pandemic, especially when millions have less money to waste while being out of work.. I just find it all just a little crazy.

I think a lot of people either want to wait and play MM on PS5 or some may not even know it's available on PS4. As far as things doing better in this terrible time it's mostly because people are at home and have time to spend on gaming etc and need the distraction. It doesn't help that the US government has failed to support it's citizens during this time but much of the rest of the world has done a decent or better job as far as keeping money flowing.

Don't forget that people would have blown money on vacations and other things that they couldn't do.

$500 for a video game console is a good value for the money (the prices scalpers can get proves that).

Instead of spending 2 hours a day in traffic going to and from work, I can use that time for video games. Lunch hour means I can actually play too. I'm lucky to be able to work from home and not lose out on anything.

There really isn't much new to even play on the PS5, and everything opened back up before the PS5 even came out ... I don't see why people want to spend more on something that doesn't offer much during difficult times. Hell, 10s of millions can't even pay their rent, or mortgage, and are now way behind with more debt

Spiderman Miles Morales and Demon's Souls Remake are good launch titles. Then there are the multiplatforms like AC: Valhalla, Dirt 5, COD, Hitman 3. Then there's the PS Plus collection for those who missed the heavy hitters of the PS4 era:
There's also the PS+ offerings, Bugsnax, Destruction All Stars, Greedfall, ManEater, Control, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: DE. There's a lot to play.

If people missed the PS4, I believe that would be a far better buy than a PS5 during times like these... Mostly the hardcore have bought the PS5 so far with only 4+ million sold. Plus the PS5 being so limited, and hard to find makes me I doubt average gamers will be trying so hard to get one when looking at it's paltry offerings

Demon's Souls is good for the hardcore gamer who likes those kind of games, but I don't believe it's good for the common Joe looking for entertainment while at home. Miles Morales is a pretty good one... Yet one isn't a great reason to get a PS5 over the much cheaper PS4 at this time IMO, especially when that one game is also on PS4

The fact that you'll be playing the better version of all PS4/PS5 compatible titles is appeal enough to get a PS5 (if you can) over a PS4 at this point in time. You're also future proofing your purchase while you are playing your backlog.

I agree for hardcore gamers with 4k HDTVs, but not for average people looking for some kind of entertainment during a pandemic

EDIT... Hell, I think the Switch is a far better buy for family fun during a pandemic

Well, that's just your opinion. I think there are lots of interests in the video game industry as a whole as evident by the console sales and demand so far ever since the pandemic started. It's a struggle to find the new next gen consoles as many can attest to. Part of the reason is scalpers, yes but there was an article saying scalpers make up about 15% of the new purchases. I never play Switch unless it's a party but that's just me. The single player games on it don't appeal to me as much.

I also believe the pandemic is what hurt production of more PS5/Xbox consoles from being made along with greatly slowing down game production

However, like you say... That is just my opinion

That I can agree with with game developers working from home, this will decrease the efficiency.
