Official Thread ReCore: Definitive Edition

Nah, someone needs to find some little morsel to discount Xbox exclusives. Look at the source of the concern.

Looks at the releases of games, laughs.

You do realize when companies state a 4-5 year dev cycle, they mean from concept brainstorming to finished product, right? Those games also tend to have a highly modified engine or one built from scratch.

Anyway, all this is moot. Lets wait till Gamescom, where it seems we will get play.

Truth.

check this out.
uncharted 1 nov 2007
uncharted 2 oct 2009
uncharted 3 nov 2011
TLOU june 2013

oblivion mar 2006
fallout 3 oct 2008
new vegas 2010
skyrim nov 2011

Dark souls sept 2011
dark souls 2 mar 2014
bloodborne mar 2015
darksouls 3 2016

hmmmm, me sense a pattern... While most of these aren't "new IP" (although Bloodborne is), many of these are big budget and stuffed with content. Naughty Dog games being high production value. Whether these others were technically "in development" before the release of the previous game is debatable, but they wouldn't hit full production until they were done with the previous games.

Recore is a well needed franchise on Xbox. It helps build their image in a new light rather than a shooter Dude, Bro console. On 360 the most popular games were always shooters or had shooting mechnics. Crackdown, Gears, Halo, etc. Factually they had decent variety but when people see whats popular it doesnt help their image. Heavy hitters like Scalebond and Recore are well needed franchises on the X1. If too many first party games hit PC it will devalue their image. People will look to Sony and Nintendo for true exclusives

To be fair, shooters are the most popular genre on the Playstation as well. It's all image, really.

It should be illegal to announce games without showing gameplay.
It should also be illegal to show "cgi" or "in game engine" or "insert other PR here" instead of what the end game (aka downgrade) comes out to actually look like.

I agree, though I think it is OK to show those things so long as you also show real gameplay.

Thats my point

For many gamers Scalebound and Recore are a breath of fresh air on Xbox while people look to Sony for niche titles and variety, its their image.
How do peoole think Sony caught up in sales last gen? RPG gamers, etc etc buy Sony consoles not Xbox. They cater to a wider audience. Now combine all the reasons people buy Playstion and you'll see why its sales more, that's the difference.
MS is starting to notice and finding new ways to build their image in a new light. The fact shooters are the most popular genre is irrelevent.

Hmmmm, Keiji's track record:

- Megaman
- RE
- Onimusha
- Dead Rising
- A mishmash of SF, Lost Planet, Ace Attorney, Dragon's Dogma, and other titles.

I think we're in good hands.

The Hitman reveal was pointless as well. Also a ton of PC games still use CGI trailers and it makes no sense in this day and age.

Yeah. Seems like a waste of money to do CGI renders. But they are done for a reason even if it costs a bunch of money...... it works.

Amazingly, some devs like Bethesda typically demo in-game gameplay. And what happens? People love it.

In this day and age, releasing canned CGI trailers just gets gamers more anxious and critical.

Well Inafune and co were basically saying we won't have to wait long to see actual gameplay. Obviously Gamescom , Pax and/or TGS are good candidates.

Sunset showed only CGI when it was announced and everything turned out fine. MSoft rarely puts out turds, they have done a great job with publishing games with The One. Still finishing up Ori and it is an amazing game. Let's wait and see how they do with Recore, Crackdown, Scalebound, and Quantum, in the very near future.

I had the same questions about Sunset Overdrive. I knew it would never reach the level of graphics that the CGI trailer had but they at least showed some of what the gameplay would be like in the trailer...the wall running, shooting, wacky character and guns. With Recore we got a little sense of the story was about and that's it. The pedigree of the team developing it can't be denied...so that's whats keeping me interested and wanting to see more. But until then, its ones of those keep an eye on games rather than a must have. Hoping it'll deliver in terms of gameplay...always good to see new ideas rather than another continuation of franchises/same old gameplay. I've already got enough franchises (Halo, Crackdown, Forza, Batman Arkham) that I keep going back to.

Check out the @e3 Xbox live segements. They interviewed Infuane and he talked about the game and some of its mechanics. The power orbs will be used in all kinds of ways and will allow you to solve all kinds of puzzles and obstacles.

You are right, new ips are always welcome.

but that was 18 months before the launch and Sunset had another E3.
ReCore should be out before next E3.

Is there any gameplay of ReCore out there?

Not yet. It sounds like its in the early stages. Hell, look at Crackdown...that was announced at last E3 and we still haven't seen any actual gameplay yet and most likely won't until September.
