Official Thread ReCore: Definitive Edition

Exactly how I feel. The hype is strong with this one.

I have good feelings about this game, I think it will be good, but, just need to see what the gameplay will be like before I can get truly hyped or make a decision about it.

While I got the Metroid Prime vibes from it, it actually vaguely reminded me as much of Too Human (especially the sound and look of a lot of the ranged gameplay). For me, that is not a bad thing.

I had that feeling too. It also reminds me of the Japanese games from the 90s. Just different with new and different gameplay. This game might be right up my alley, I have always tended to enjoy these games that get forgotten quickly. Sadly I am thinking this one will be too.

Not sure about this one yet, but I kind of felt a Kameo vibe from it. Only me?

Going to have to wait to see more gameplay. Still on the fence. I was more hyped for it before I saw the preview..so that's not really a good sign.

I didn't realize they had a collectors edition for this game.

I would rather pump money into this than buy another Gears collectors edition or something like that.

I want Microsoft to invest into more of these games. Also I don't listen to reviews.

I was very excited to get my hands on ReCore at E3. The game features the heroine Joule and her robot companions as she attempts to find mankind’s new home. The game features 5 different companions, all with different abilities. I had the chance to play it at E3 and came away impressed.

The demo starts you in a desert environment. You need to find a core. You have 2 companions to choose from – the dog and a yellow spider like creature. You can send your companions to specific targets or to attack enemies. The enemies are no joke. It was a nice challenge because different enemies are weak to specific types of ammunition. It is all color coded – use red ammo to take out red enemies, etc. You need to be strategic when you get multiple colored enemies on screen (developer hint – red enemies will wreck you, so focus on them first). Joule has a double jump and dash feature for traveling across large areas without hitting the ground. I ran out of ammo quickly, so look for ammo drops from fallen enemies. You have your normal rapid fire option or you can charge a shot to do more damage. I like the strategy involved in this game. I had to weaken an enemy, send my companion to do damage, then finish it off with a charged shot all while avoiding enemy fire. The platforming is fun and easy as long as you remember the double jump and dash.

Needless to say, I had a lot of fun with this game. It sucks having short demos to review, but we will have the real game soon enough. ReCore comes out on Xbox One and Windows 10 on September 13th. I can’t wait to pick up the full game!

Purchased and now just waiting for the unlock day. Looks like a lot of fun and a great mix of Classic Side scroller Megaman action,Super Metroid style exploration and a bit of Burning Rangers in the boss fights.

Disappointed that this is not a big budget game.

MSOFT has had a disappointing year in the games department for me.

Ya, I was hoping this would be their new fable since fable is basically dead for the the foreseeable future.

Hopefully it does well enough that they are willing to fund a AAA sequel.

I guess it should have been obvious when it was announced that it was using the unity engine that is would be a smaller budget game.

hahahahahah people writing this off as it's cheap......this is going to be one of the most important IP's for Microsoft going forward.....mark my words!
Pre-ordered and waiting for release day.

Please quote where I wrote off the game?

Voicing that I wished the game was big budget is not a dismissal of it. I bought Ori and loved it.

My point in saying that I wanted a AAA budgeted game is because there are so few big new IPs that MSoft has put out so far. It is a disappointing state of affairs in my book.

I will gladly buy this game but I will not champion MSoft in their current games strategy.
