Viralheat, the social media marketing company has done some tracking during each consoles respective launch weeks and discovered some interesting information. According to their report:

PlayStation 4 garnered:
643,086 mentions
47% positive
33% neutral
20% negative

The Xbox One on the other hand received:
659,976 mentions
57% positive
25% neutral
18% negative

Also worth noting was their tracking of several video games between October 14 and October 24. NBA 2K14 led the field with three-quarters of all mentions being positive. Right behind it was FIFA 14 and Call of Duty: Ghosts with a 68% positive sentiment rate. The rest of the field was composed of Battlefield 4 (58%), Madden 25 (52%), Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (50%), and Watch Dogs (39%).

Only Spring will tell the true power of these next generation consoles with hit titles such as Titanfall, Destiny, and Watch Dogs finally releasing.

PlayStation 4 garnered:
643,086 mentions
47% positive
33% neutral
20% negative

The Xbox One on the other hand received:
659,976 mentions
57% positive
25% neutral
18% negative

More mentions, more positive, less neutral, less negative... better all around on every statistic, which is cool...

Only 2% more mentions for X1, but:

21% more positive mentions for Xbox One
11% less negative mentions for Xbox One

Not bad. :)

Good news all around it would seem, especially for MS.

Not bad at all. ;)

Everyone I know who has a One really enjoys it, word of mouth is very positive. I also lol at all the people who claimed they will never get one, I would bet a majority are just bumping their gums on the internet and will eventually. Bottom line unless you are some man baby who doesnt enjoy games but prefers nut hugging a particular brand you can see the pros in getting both, after all we all are supposed to be gamers.

Well I think, say and hope its in a year(or less time)

I like the Microsoft company. And one thing I can admit is they, like their investors love money. So as prices drop on fab processes and competition of build, you'll see lower cost for finished product. They will ride that out in terms of profit until they absolutely have too.

Wait, now the XB1 has more megafeelz and +1s on the nets? I suppose for once it's nice to have a useless "stat" to feel good about, but it's still inconsequential.

Likewise the Xbox fanboys need to admit the same. Their worlds have come crashing down around them.

I think the Sony fanboys just need to admit that the Xbox One is doing better than they want it to.

Realy? Anyways if I wanted a gaming console I would get the ps 4. Xbox 1 deliveres some cool features sure, however I take better performance/graphics over voice commands. Voice commands in games it's just like 3D, a niche, which I don't need..

I'm not sure why that's so hard for people to admit. They predicted doom and gloom for the X1 and clearly it has done just fine. The funny thing is the negativity comes from the people who admit to not even owning one.

I don't know how reliable this is at gathering general sentiment, but I guess that's good news for Microsoft. I think it's really hard to make any predictions about next gen at this point though, whether it's sales numbers or early sentiment.

Both companies are selling every console they can make right now, and it seems it will be that way at least until January. The company that is selling more is the one that is making more right now. And a lot of the people that are buying these consoles now fall into the PS4/Xbox One fanboy or hardcore gamer category, and their sentiment and impressions don't always correspond with the more casual club.

I think next winter around this time is when we'll actually get a much better picture of how this gen is going. I could see Halo and Titanfall giving the Xbox One an early lead though. I'm sure Sony will show off some very good exclusives, but I don't know if they'll have anything next year that carries the same weight as those two franchises.

That's never going to happen... It's an integral part of this generation... And time will only solidify that more.

Just like the Kinect was supposed to be mandatory at all times?
Just like headsets were not supposed to be included because the Kinect provided sufficient voice communication?
Just like the Xbox One was supposed to be an online requirement/hourly check-up process?
Just like there were going to be restrictions on buying/selling Used Xbox One games?
Just like there were going to be restrictions on sharing game discs with friends?

I recall people saying all of those things were never going to be reversed right after E3 because they were all 'integral parts' of this generation.

Mr Titan - policy is different from hardware and software built from the ground up to work together, and of which is required for the system to work as designed.

Kinect is a differentiator which Sony can't match... And that differentiator has its home well solidified with X1...

As for others who claimed some of MS's original policies wouldn't change - I never made any such claim, sp I don't really care about claims I didn't make.

Kind of like the X1's broken disc drives? Or all of issues with PSUs I've been reading about?
Can't be that bad if X1 is getting better feedback than PS4 during both of their respective launch periods.
