Report: Xbox One received more positive sentiment at launch than PS4

The X1 really is a solid console, sure it may have some issues needing some ironing out but MS will get there.

All in all I'm happy with it.

The XO is performing beyond expectancy for one.....it'll get worse if NPD numbers show they've sold more than the PS4. MS has been keeping a steady flow of consoles delivered to retail. Thats a big deal.

After just coming back from Best Buy and then reading through the thread on GAF and Cheapassgamer about everyone's experiences, you guys are in for a rude awakening (I'm talking specifically to only Flynn, XboxNeo and Mcmasters).

Best Buy universally seemed to have received far more PS4's than they did Xbox One's. According to the manager they were averaging around 110 PS4's per store, and 40 Xbox One's, all shipped this week, all stored up for Sunday. This particular store met these numbers ("Over 120 PS4s and about 40 Xbox's"). I had ticket #35 for another PS4 that I am buying for my father. The guy in front of me had an Xbox One ticket #6. So there were 34 other people with PS4 tickets for every 5 Xbox One's in front of us. There was no contest in terms of both supply AND demand. My PS4 today was built in November 2013 from China.

At this moment at 1:00PM, this advertised post-launch of both consoles at the Best Buy's around me looks like this. This is in the Chicago/Milwaukee suburbs, which has the third largest metropolitan population in the country:

Not sure why anyone would want any console to not do well. If someone prefers one over the other, great...but to wish less of a success on them............
I guess your sarcasm meter wasn't working this time....I got next.

Kinect is sooooo important for MS that its biggest game(TITANSFALL) doesn't(THANKFULLY) use it.

False.

All games use it. They all use it in multiple ways. They may not all have crucial gameplay elements tied to that usage - but every single game on the system utilizes Kinect. Every single one.

Unfortunately this doesn't go against the "Sony has a supply problem and MS doesn't" it actually feeds into it.

How will Titanfall use it?

I have no information. But for starters, I expect it to use voice commands in the same way they are used in BF4. I would also expect it to use lean. Perhaps one additional gesture...

But on BF4, Kinect is mainly used for comms, and no one is bothering with the pack in head phone anymore. Because the noise cancelling really works... Go figure, Microsoft could have skipped the headphone packin.

I think he is grieving, because there is some denial there. He can't get past the idea that the X1 is selling like hot cakes, which it is.

No... they said they won't use voice like this... Kinect will be used just like with every other game....xbox record that...... things of that nature.

You have no idea how many the PS4 and the Xbox One sold at this time, anything is just pure speculation. Sony last announced 2.1 million a week ago and Microsoft last announced over 1.1? million a couple weeks ago.

Anything beyond that is just pure speculation and fanboy hope.

Also, the sales numbers right now, no matter who is 'winning' are MEANINGLESS. Both Sony and Microsoft are selling through everything they can make right now. The 'WINNER RIGHT NOW IS THE ONE THAT CAN MANUFACTURER MORE UNITS'. It is not really indicative of anything else right now.
Woah there Titan!! Dont have me bring down the wrath of Zeus upon yo ass! ;) Then it'll be GoW all over again, is that what you want?!

I wasnt saying that the XO was outselling the PS4. I was simply stating that the XO is doing better than many expected seeing as it was predicted not to sell as well as the PS4. f*** all!

Like I said...xbox record that... you use Kinect for every game. You use the Kinect with EVERY GAME.Just like he said.

None of that is exclusive to Titanfall though. Thanks for replying though, no one else did.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when certain other people couldn't tell us enough about the PS4 on Amazons top yearly chart... Why no one one bringing that up now???

Well let's bring it up then? It still exists, and is interesting data... assuming you can handle analysing it.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2013/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsar#1

Although it's sort of strange.. XBO is now in the top 10, can't find PS4 until #74 the BF4 bundle.. although that links to all PS4 SKU's, so could just be what is being listed.

Yet PS4 games still dominate the list compared to XBO games.

Conclusion: well.. conclusion I can draw is that Amazon's data is kinda strange. lol.. products seem to go from the top 20 "yearly" list to dissapearing.. which doesn't make sense.

But if it CAN be trusted.. then MS has really out-paced Sony with Amazon alotments after initially having quite a few more PS4 pre-orders.

And MS is either not selling games, or XBO has the way more popular Digital Download service.

Also the Dualshock 4 is way higher on the list than the XBO controller is.. also could be indicative of Xbox One being bought by a lot of scalpers at this point? Scalpers buy systems, but no games or controllers.

I dunno.. sort of give up.. Amazon's "yearly chart" is interesting but we are at the whim of however amazon feels like calculating it.. and amazon's goal is to sell stuff not provide meaningful product sales data to people.

Better than whose expectations? I think everyone expected both consoles to sell out into next year including the most ardent PS4 (and Xbox One) fanboys.

I am just about sick of this BS. I am tired of all these people giving their expert eye test opinions and what could be BS conversations with managers at their local stores. The PS4 was ADVERTISED for Best Buy this week in their AD as being in stock for Sunday. Of course they will have a big shipment in for that.

You also can't prove anything at all, by showing me a screen cap of what is and isn't available at Best Buy. Especially when you have no idea how much stock is being sent to stores during the week.

Again people are looking at things in a vacuum. Lets use one stores advertised day for in stock items to prove the PS4 is selling better. The same thing happened on Amazon during pre orders.

Ok, that was entirely reasonable. Good post!

DS4 could be way higher because Sony pulled the embargo on all their games and accessories at the start of November. Microsoft never did until a few days before launch. So people had a better chance to stagger their money. I know personally I have yet to buy an extra controller.

Your own post kind of tells us that Sony had a lot of PS4 stock and from Yoyoniner's post that stock being pretty much sold out.

My point is if you want to say we don't know how much stock was supplied from Sony, why say it was a big shipment?

I wish less success on MS because it's quite obvious where they want to take this market. They want a firm grip with an iron hand over ALL aspects of this business. They want to be able to force developers to do what MS wants them to do, they want to force users to give up more and more money for less and less content and they want to force unwanted hardware on consumers under the guise of "innovation".

Sony's not much better but they're also not as brazen about it either.

This just isn't true.

No one at Microsoft wants "complete control" over anything. Most folk I know want as much freedom and grace as possible for developers, and no one wants people to give up more money for less - the problem is consumers expect more and more with little (or no) increase in price. I spent $80 (retail price) for a Sega Master system game over 20 years ago... Game prices haven't really increased with inflation, but the costs to make them has sky rocketed... And the quality of the games in terms of production values, blows away those games by a huge margin. Obviously a business wants (and needs) to make money, but Microsoft doesn't want to get there through strong arming, and taking advantage of anything or any one.

...and Microsoft is no more forcing the Kinect on people than Apple is forcing accelerometers on iPhone fans. Kinect provides an input the system needs/requires to function as designed... And it's the sole reason why many are saying things like, "Xbox One feels like the future"... Kinect creates friction-less entertainment, and opens doors no other device in the living room can.

By the way, I babysat for a friend last night... My hands were quite full... Voice commands made my life significantly and meaningfully better last night... No way I could have fumbled around for a controller or remote... A small, corner case - but a real world example of the ease of use and better lifestyle Kinect can bring.

Yeah but look at it like this. Microsoft has been keeping all US outlets stocked very well since launch. Sony hasn't. So why are we showing differences between Microsoft allocating more and Sony having one day since launch advertised for Best Buy as a factor into who is selling more.

I am just sick and tired of people using inconclusive data in arguments as fact to say who is doing better. No one has a f***ing clue so those people need to stop telling others what is right or wrong.

Everybody's playing the guessing game until more definitive numbers come out like the NPD numbers.

Well Sony shipped 1 million plus to NA only didn't they?

And a week ahead of MS.. whose 1 million plus was spread out across quite a few territories.. best estimate is that MS shipped roughly half what Sony did to NA.

Which means MS has been playing catchup to Sony's NA numbers from the start.. and while they've been shipping more refreshes out to NA, Sony hasn't stopped shipping and would've had a fairly good lead on MS.

I really think Sony is going to easily beat MS in the upcoming November NPD report simply because I doubt MS was able to catch up to Sony's shipped numbers.

Both consoles are fairly easily selling out left and right when shipments come in, so outside of "how were launch shipments spread out" we aren't going to know which is selling "better" until at least December NPD.. but we could see both systems selling out fairly easily longer than that.

Going to be a few months before the dust settles on the launches.
