Reports of PS4 hardware issues.

People freaking out after unplugging during an update is almost as silly as people freaking that their console overheated after wrapping it in a blanket.

What's causing the HDD partitioning issues though? is that related?

Greatness awaits....

They weren't all unplugging. 1 did. The others were from setup, to game playing, to sudden death.

Check your HDMI when you get yours. I hope this isn't a widespread issue.

Though the PlayStation 4 won't be released in North America until Friday, some users who have obtained early access to the systems are reporting broken displays. An IGN retail PS4 stopped outputting through the HDMI after the user began downloading Netflix. Kotaku's first retail system also reportedly had a faulty HDMI jack that would not output a signal. Two other users on NeoGAF, who obtained early access to their consoles via a Taco Bell promotion, also reported similar problems with HDMI outputs. Based on reports from at least one user, Sony has been responsive to warranty claims and is shipping a replacement unit. As is the case for all PlayStation hardware, the PS4 is covered by warranty for twelve months.

It's not unusual for the early runs of console hardware to experience trouble. There are nearly limitless relationships between hardware, software, and user behavior. While many of the incompatibilities can be cleared up during testing, the scale of interactions when the console goes public is bound to reveal numerous otherwise unpredictable problems.

IGN has reached out to Sony for comment but has not yet heard back. Users who are experiencing trouble are encouraged to contact Sony support 1-800-345-SONY.

It only wobbles if you stand over it poking down on one side with your finger like a r****d.
I can't speak for you, but for me personally, that's not a problem.

When you buy a next gen console for $400 you get excited and poke it...
When you get excited and poke it it wobbles....
When it wobbles you say its not a big deal because you poked it...
Then you insert your shiny new KZ:SF into the BluRay Drive ...
When the BluRay drive spins faster to load the game on the console, it wobbles much harder...
When it wobbles much harder it skids across the credenza and falls to the floor...
When it falls to the floor it becomes a $400 paperweight...
Don't buy a $400 paperweight.....

Well you probably know the rest of the commercial... :D

People are experiencing issues for turning off their PS4 while it's updating, and there might be HDD partitioning errors with some.
Here's a supposed fix until they probably patch it: https://twitter.com/BradWardFGN/status/400816699999416320
Haven't heard of any PS4s actually being DOA or really bricking, which is amazing (in these instant social media days.)
he did that...and then it broke again...the guy is getting pissed.

not all the broken ps4 are the hdd...some are the hdmi which plainview posted.

Foxconn....

Those students that were forced to make PS4's for Taco Bell have exacted their revenege. lol

I'm watching the guy on twitch.tv right now and he has said about 100 times that he didn't pull the plug while it updated.

*calls stock broker to invest in rubber commoditys

For 400 bones you'd expect them to already be there on the four corners. Or is evenness so last gen?

Enough of that! Pretty much every single piece of electronics i own wobbles if you press down somewhere.

What I'm more interested in: Hardware quality assurance people. Any stories on the web of bricked PS4's or melting ones? Excluding the one who pulled the plug while updating.

i'm too lazy too read so why is it lopsided?
It's not lopsided. The placement of the feet allows for one side to tilt if pressed down on (see image for feet placement). The unit sits flat if you are not pressing down on the gloss side and this is a non-issue. You could call it an odd design choice, but Sony obviously thought the aesthetics of an upright unit was more important than symmetrical foot placement.

It's funny that people are blaming this on him, the damn thing died on him, he is just trying to fix it. 2 guys on reddit, 2 gaffers, kotaku and ign all have the same problem.

Whatever the problem is - its not a good thing. Fact here is that the unit should be showing *some* form of boot sequence or visual indicator at least on system and firmware load. He's getting NOTHING....

Its obviously bricked ... not a good start at all...

Him pulling & pushing the HDD in and out of the system while it was running...probably didn't help.

I really have other stuff I'd like to be doing, but I can't stop watching this trainwreck.

He's gotta pee.

This tit couldn't trouble shoot an ice cream cone. He has no common sense. When he tryed his Xbox to see if it still worked he used a different HDMI cord in a different HDMI TV input. All he had to do was remove the HDMI from the back of the PS4 and put it into the Xbox and he could have eliminated the HDMI cord and TV input as possible causes of the problem.
As it stands now, if ethier were the problem he could go on for another 10 hours without realizing it.

If this guy isn't banned on teamxbox, someone should go on there and ban him, just because.
