Official Thread Rise of the Tomb Raider

Oh sweetheart, all the loads I've taken, the years of bondage...

I mistook the CIA's waterboarding for foreplay. I still can't walk past a power point without getting excited

Do you think a few bullets will stop me? ;)

I can't wait to go all Tomb Raider on yo ass!

What would Lara do!?

(p.s. How long is the game?)
The game is a lot longer than expected. I'm near the end, but don't want to finish it :( I've put a lot of hours into it as well. Not sure how many. Much longer than the first game I'm sure, but I spend a lot of time looking for the collectibles and tombs.

I am almost 8 hours of play time into this game (according to the game hub). I have only reached the "second" challenge tomb, haven't finished a regular tomb yet. It shows I am at 15%, and I have barely scratched the surface. This game is HUGE.

If youre speaking of equipment, relics, etc? Yes. Later on you'll acquire more equipment to help you in accessing other parts of earlier areas that weren't accessible to you before. The game is phenomenal in that way.

It took me a while to figure that out while exploring and move on. I can't wait to go back and see what's left for me once I have the required equipment and skills.

I just got the game and damn this game is not getting the attention it deserves because its awesome. The presentation, story and controls are done so well. Also, I read of some complaints of input lag but I haven't experienced that. The game controls are fluid and responsive, maybe its something that happens later on during more chaotic areas. There is a very well done cinematic quality here that I love. The way the tombs and expansive vistas are presented make for beautiful scenery.

Zero input lag here too. The game is aces.

It gets much better in the later levels. RYSE definitely has a contender for best visuals.

This game has some great lighting. When making my way out of a cave I can see the daylight streaming in from the mouth of the cave which looks amazing. My only complaint so far is that all the Tomb puzzles I have come across are really easy. I hope they get harder as I progress.

I have to agree with the IGN review which stated that exploration is much more fun than the combat. Combat is fun and responsive but the environments are so beautiful that I'd rather explore them. Every new environment has a unique look with a lot of details. I wish we got more action/adventure games like this. Luckily Uncharted 4 is not too far off and there is DLC coming for TR.

Busterman > Kvally

:(

Haha, you're probably further along than I am.

It would have been cool if you could remove the hints they put in things like the white chalky looking outlines they put on a lot of things to indicate interaction. Its cool though because the game is still a lot of fun to play.

I am not very far...I think 18%. I have already used YouTube once for the second Tomb Challenge.
I never would have thought to throw a can of explosive gas on the pallet in the water and time it to line up with the opening to blow the hole open to let more water in. NOW that I know how I need to think about stuff, that might help me going forward though..I need to think OUTSIDE the box.

That was a fun Tomb. Don't forget to hit R3 to not only highlight points of interest but to get Lara to give hints on what's next for the puzzle.

I definitely didn't think they were too bad, but I don't really want super convoluted puzzles. They are still leagues better than Uncharted's "Puzzles". I'd say they are about in line difficulty-wise with that wind-temple puzzle in the Reboot. Just enough to slow you down and get your mind going, but not overly frustrating. Suits me perfect!

I didn't have much trouble with any of the puzzles because they actually made sense, unlike a lot of games.

Those of you not experiencing any input lag or slowdowns will see it the closer you get to the end of the game. As much as I enjoyed everything else about the game, the slowdowns later on dropped this game out of the top spot as my favorite game this year.

My son finished it, and didn't have any lag issues or slow downs.

I experienced some slow down at the end but the controls always remained good.

I am about 34% through and game just keeps getting better. Performance and graphics are solid.

I tossed it in for a bit last night and wasn't really feeling it and played some Halo 5 MP instead. Fired it back up this afternoon and I just spent 6 hours on it and can easily do more. Not a lot of games do that to me anymore nor do I have the time. Everything about it is super good and the hook that it puts into you is special. It's like a good book you don't want to put down and can't wait to get back to.

I am at 32% now. This game is TOO big. I keep getting sidetracked with different challenge, finding relics and challenge tombs. I am actually trying to get up into a building right now, but I haven't figured out how yet. I might have to youtube this one.

The game is longer than I thought it would be. I thought I would have been done by now but much to my delight there is a bit more to it. I spent way to much time looking for dead rabbits at the Geothermal Valley, damn those challenges. The villains are a pair of sibling wackos which makes the story much more interesting. Its a bit predictable but the voice acting and cutscenes make up for that.

I've had a little pop-in. It hasn't happened that much but has been noticeable like when I came out of this one Tomb it took a second or two for the environmental graphics to load in. I only mention it because its the only real technical glitch I have run into for a otherwise very stable game.

Got this today! I had already played the demo, which was awesome, and it just let me pick up where it left off. Didn't get far before the kids took over the Xbox for Just Dance though... the MS holiday sale is working.

I completed this last night and it was awesome all the way through. I enjoyed the combat but the exploration was the real highlight for me in this semi-open world. I only wish there was more to it, this is not a short game but it was so good that I didn't want to see it end. I haven't tried Expedition Mode yet either so there's that. And I plan on another playthrough on the hardest difficulty setting and hope the DLC is just as good.

The release date for this game was a mistake, I expected better from MSFT. I really hope this game gets the sales it deserves once its released on more platforms.

Glad to hear you loved it man. I completely agree on the release date, it was a misstep. Putting it in the overcrowded holiday season, plus up against Fallout 4... I really hope the current sale gets them lots of Christmas purchases (like mine!), because they surely deserve it.
