Official Thread Rise of the Tomb Raider

The only reason I can think of why they would release this game among other high profile titles like FO4, is because it was just a great title to add to their line up. Perhaps it was just sending a message to gamers. No doubt by adding a new Tomb Raider as a year exclusive along with Halo 5, Forza 6, Rare Replay and Gears U.E. sent a pretty strong message for the holidays and S.E. were compensated for any losses they may acquire. (which I'm sure they and Microsoft anticipated)

Both companies have much more accurate prediction scales and numbers than the best sub arm chair and basement analyst professionals in the bizz.

I think you've nailed it. While I don't think it was the best idea for Tomb Raider, it may have been the best idea for Xbox. I hope everyone involved hits the numbers they hoped for and more.

Plus, if you add in Tomb Raider still releasing on other platforms later on, it just makes more since. Everyone wins kind of deal. Xbox was armed to the teeth with heavy weight exclusives this holiday season though. Best I can remember. T.R. just cemented the deal.

The release date for this game was a mistake, I expected better from MSFT. I really hope this game gets the sales it deserves once its released on more platforms.

I guess we shouldn't expect them to have learned from their mistakes after putting Alan Wake up against Red Dead!

Got this game for Xmas, looking forward to playing it. Sorta need to play the last Tomb Raider first though....after finishing Fallout, whenever that happens.

How do you craft Molotov cocktails on the fly? I'm thinking this is a skill based trait I have ignored and I'm screwed as the copper mill mission requires it.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a gifted skill at some point. You just need to pick up a bottle, and hold RB (on X1). As long as you have cloth in your inventory, it will work. Anywhere you need one to progress, both bottles and cloth can be found nearby.

Got this for Christmas, absolutely outstanding.

On another note, why are screenshots and recordings disabled?

If you pick up a bottle, hold down your right bumper button to fill it up and light it.

I need to figure out the crafting more. How do you use the mushrooms to lace the arrows with poison? I can now craft hollow point bullets but I have no idea if need to do anything. Thanks for the help. Outside of using the last couple of skill points to make Lara a more vengeful killer, I have generally focused on the ones that maximize XP, loot gathering, making things easier, and a general focus on improving my bow and arrow skills. Although my revolver with the silencer and other upgrades is getting pretty lethal also.

dammit. I saw a sealed copy of Rise of the TR at Goodwill for $6 and then I flipped it to the side and it appears that the disc has been swiped :(

Wow, what kind of sad, pathetic loser do you have to be to steal from Goodwill? Just to be perfectly clear I am not referring to you, but to the person who stole the disc.

It's sad that the person who stole it can't afford $6 to pay for it. It's probably some kid that stole it. I blame this store for not putting it behind the glass window near the cash register like other Goodwill stores do. Here's another find that I found two months ago but when I opened it up, the disc has been swiped.

Did you buy the Pirate Adventure DVD? That's what I would've bought out of that stack.

Likely why they were so cheap- they never had the actual games in them. Someone probably just has a CD folder with the disc and they wanted to get rid of the case.

I doubt that. I'm 100% sure that MGS V/Rise of the TR copy was donated from Target. I don't know where you live, but my Goodwill stores get a lot of brand new/unopened games from Target.

I got me a sealed copy of rare replay (case is cracked) for $15 a few months ago and here's a bunch of PS4 games locked up behind the glass window.

I've never found anything goof a GW, but it makes sense if they are behind glass. That one wasn't. We will never know :(

Microsoft has stated that the game has a least sold a million, but they haven't given exact numbers. Could be 2 million for all we know. Great sales and great score for a great game.

I'm going to have to go to that Goodwill shop to rearrange the shelves to satisfy my OCD.

I mean, The Sopranos upside-down? Really?

And they are sold-through numbers too

http://www.gamepur.com/news/21618-a...figure-are-sold-through-rise-tomb-raider.html

This announcement from Aaron Greenberg came under the radar of fanboys and they started shouting from the top of their voice that the Rise of the Tomb Raider sales figures news from is "Shipped" numbers and not "Sold Through". Thankfully, a clarification has been made by Aaron via Twitter.

When asked by a fan: "some people on sites are trying to kill the Tomb Raider news saying its shipped and not sold through. Do you have an answer?" Aaron clarified that it is indeed a "Sell-Through" figure and well over 1 million mark.

Awesome game, and deserving of all the sales! I'm pretty sure I'm close to the end, so I've taken a break for a few days. Time to jump back in and finish it though!
